ADVANCED SYSTEMS
  • Heavy laminate armour plating

Strengths:
  • Tough as nails: excellent shields, redundant components and robust plating make the H-Wing hard to bring down
  • Easy to repair: uses parts and components common with many Incom vessels. Armour plates more easily replaced than a burned out shield generator.
  • Good, concentrated head on firepower: can often blaze through a screen of light fighters and laser fire and threaten small escort ships most fighter struggle with.

Weaknesses:

  • Ponderous: Good straight line acceleration, but not the quickest turn. Capable in a dogfight but has to trade some hits and find an opening.
  • Limited ordnance: can fire all four missiles at once but this is all it carries. Torpedoes are not too grade homing for chasing down light interceptors, but for hitting regular starfighters, bombers and heavy emplacements.

Description:

In recent years Incom has focussed on the more exclusive end of the private market and aiding large organisations in high-end Starfighter capabilities. The H-Wing, as well as minor updates to the Headhunter line, represent a push into the more affordable sector of the market to increase the company's revenue.

The H-Wing is affordable and robust, designed to survive multiple engagements. They are easy to fly and easy to repair.

Underneath the durasteel armour plating is a layer of ceramic plates with a weave of conducting metal mesh. This dissipates blaster fire and reduces the effect of shrapnel impact. Unfortunately it isn't light and affects maneuvering but it is easy to replace. The cockpit itself is more heavily protected than a typical fighter. One downside is that the pilot sits behind the centre of mass in a heavy fighter, which can take a few flights to adjust to.

The H-Wing excels in head on battles. Breaking an initial fighter screen or braving defensive laser fire to strike a key target. The heavy laser cannons and torpedo tubes are close together and can deliver concentrated fire on a very small area. If a force cannot afford advanced, long range bombers the H-Wing can fulfil both heavy fighter and strike capabilities. However, it is not designed for bombing ground based targets.

ADVANCED SYSTEMSStrengths:
  • Long range
  • Low sensor signature
  • Capable sensor suite
Weaknesses:
  • Not designed to heavy combat
  • Not as capable as advanced vessels with cloaking technology or crystal grav traps
Description:
The Sleuth is a proven and low cost reconnaissance ship. Designed for one or two operators and with provisions to stay in space for weeks at a time it offers an attractive alternative to costly cloaked vessels.

The vessel acts as a home for two. Behind the cockpit is a compact living space with bunks, a compact sonic shower, cookingand a fold out table. Optional features are available for comfort. Incom recommends the high-end caf machine (or wine chiller for four bottles for private customers). The vessel has proven reliability, with spares available across the market. Navigational systems can find routes off known hyperlanes to scout enemy territory.

Can run on biofuel for the environmentally conscientious.

Provisions are necessary as the vessel has to approach a target slowly to maintain stealth. Firing the engines on anything over 25% power makes the Sleuth just as visible as any other ship.

Armaments are light. Concussion missiles are intended to distract pursuit rather than engage enemy targets. Shields will not stand up to much attention.

The sensor suite is advanced though not capable of detecting a cloaked ship. The sensors can detect vessels with accuracy at long range as well as hyperspace reversions. From high orbit enemy installations can be imaged in high quality. Information can be securely directed back to allies over a tight beam.

Whilst a cloaked vessel may be required to penetrate advanced sensor nets, the affordability of the Sleuth cannot be beaten. Perfect for deep reconnaissance or as a unit of scouts ranging ahead of a fleet.
