The Stalwart-class heavy cruiser is designed for one very specific role: to fill the Republic's need for a large-scale patrol and interdiction ship. This ship carries a half-wing of starfighters and two gravity well generators to, essentially, serve as a mobile carrier platform. Its role and usage is very simple - use its speed to navigate itself into position, engage the two directional gravity well generators in order to trap capital ships in place, then use its starfighter and bomber squadrons to mop up the targets around it. In this way it serves as a more efficient interdiction platform than the ancient Imperial one, where it can efficiently take on all manner of targets on its own as opposed to requiring fleet support from other vessels. However, with its communications package, it is also able to summon help quickly. Patterned somewhat on the Venerable-class design, the Stalwart-class is an excellent patrol and system command ship, making for one of the most versatile heavy cruiser designs in Republic history.
