The NAKAIOMA Corporation, or simply NAKAIOMA, is a multinational conglomerate, headquartered in Nakaioma Plaza, on Coruscant, it was founded on Coruscant a millennia ago by the Nakaioma family. The conglomerate initially centered itself around energy extraction, but has since branched out into a number of different industries. Including telecommunications, mining, transportation, health services, mass media, and a variety of other areas. Ranked among some of the highest in the galaxy by gross revenue, employees, total assets and profitability. Nakaioma has weathered several large-scale wars, the rise and fall of regimes, and a countless number of other disasters, both on a galactic scale, and an internal corporate one. One of the many factors leading to its rise in prominence. Taken under the helm of new leadership nearly two decades ago, following the sudden death of the former family patriarch, the conglomerate has begun a new, more morally ambiguous path, in the pursuit of profits.
Once restricted to a single sector. Nakaioma has since taken on an ideology of diversification. Dedicated to branching into as many industries and service sectors as possible, to prevent a total reliance on any one, or small number of industries to maintain company profitability and growth. Historically having offered their services primarily to the democratic governments of the core, and 'western' parts of the galaxy, maintaining an aura of neutrality, in-order to ensure the trust of the governments and planets that frequently hire their services. In recent years, the conglomerate has expanded, or has announced intents to expand into neutral, and in some instances controversial space. Similarly, via the drive for diversification, the company has begun expanding its own private security capabilities, as its various corporate interests, and projects become too big, and too widespread to rely on purely outside assistance alone.
Operating primarily, but not exclusively throughout the Galactic Alliance, New Imperial Order, Corporate Authorities of Denon, Silver Jedi Concord, and the former Confederacy of Independent Systems. Nakaioma has also taken to a number of operations across the Outer Rim, mostly in neutral space, but also that of the Eternal Empire as of late, dismissing any claims of conflicts of interest, and strongly reaffirming its pledge to faction neutrality. Known for its strong corps of political lobbyists, Nakaioma hands can be found in the pockets of many senators, representatives, and other public officials throughout this region of the galaxy. All working towards the goal of further expanding the already grand reach of the conglomerate, and the profits that it brings in. Many of the most well-to do elite among the core worlds attend the elaborate, and decadent charity fundraisers, more accurately described as informal social networking parties, which the corporation holds.

As a private entity, Nakaioma does not lay claim to anything officially. However, de-facto it possesses great influence on Atrisia, its ancestral homeworld. Along with this, it exercises varying amounts of influence over much of the Galactic Alliance, Rimward Trade League, Empire, Silver Jedi Concord, Eternal Empire, Corporate Authorities of Denon, and Elysium Imperium. Currently, Nakaioma has a presence in at least a majority of inhabited systems, with the notable exception to this being the Brotherhood of the Maw for obvious reasons. In regards to the conglomerate's interactions with the many diverse communities it is surrounded by throughout the galaxy, it often keeps to itself, excluding the occasional cultural festival they will bankroll for positive PR. Their products, and services however are prevalent in the lives of many, often without them being fully aware of it. The more politically minded citizens of the galaxy view the conglomerate as a creeping mist of privatization, and ruthless expansionism. Most people simply see it as a company that makes things, and their relationship with it is not of much note.
Operating millions of physical facilities across the galaxy, both big and small, Nakaioma has over the centuries streamlined its construction, standardizing its various facilities throughout all of its subsidiaries, to make construction faster, cheaper, and easier. An electronics manufacturing plant in the Mid Rim will be almost the exact same, if not the exact same as an electronics manufacturing plant in the Inner Rim, and this rule goes for most affiliated sites, including heavy industry factories, retail stores, barracks, farms, refineries, administrative buildings, and medcenters. Regional Offices, and Headquarters are typically tall skyscrapers standing amid city skylines, the Nakaioma flower logo brightly lit at the top for all to see. While the most notable of the corporation's physical assets, would be Nakaioma Plaza, the central headquarters of the corporation, located on Coruscant, a truly gargantuan construct, and the Nakaioma Family Compound, a luxurious, and decadent series of mansions, courtyards, and recreational areas, the location of which is highly classified.
A strictly family-run business, Nakaioma has for most of its history been 80-90% owned by the Nakaioma family, and for all intents and purposes, regardless of official titles, or responsibilities, Nakaioma clan members outrank all others. At the top of the dog-pile sits 'Old Man' Nakaioma himself, the clan patriarch, and unwavering corporate emperor of the conglomerate, to which all employees pay loyalty to, and the vast paramilitary services of the conglomerate pledge allegiance, akin more to an actual emperor, than a CEO. It is with him alone that the highest level decisions are made, and executive board appointments are confirmed. While his relatives, divided into factions, constantly rival one another for increased influence, and control over the conglomerate.
Next in line would be the Executives, the high-ranking, but non-familial members of the conglomerate, typically those who run the subsidiary corporations, or are in the upper echelons of the hierarchies of said corporations. Due to the vast nature of the conglomerate, and the countless worlds, and systems in which it maintains operations, the ranking system is strictly regulated, and standardized. Almost all worlds on which Nakaioma is present, there will be a 'Regional Office', on certain major worlds, there will be 'Regional Headquarters', which coordinate all activity for a certain region of the galaxy, the executives in-charge of Regional Headquarters are known as Regional Directors, whom are second only to the Chief Executive Officers of the subsidiary corporations present, while those in-charge of Regional Offices are known as Local Directors, and answer to the Regional Director. Chain of command for any corporation, or department subsequently goes down the line of Provincial, Local, and Site. With Provincial Directors responsible for an area of a single world or system, Local Directors responsible for cities or towns, and Site Directors responsible for a single work site, factory, or other field operation.

The process of joining Nakaioma, or any of its subsidiaries is different depending on the position, and corporation in question. Executives are typically Atrisian in origin, and have been with the conglomerate for their entire working life, as to prevent infiltrators, or otherwise disloyal elements from corrupting the efficiency of the firm's operations, rarely will executives be brought in from third-party sources. This of course does introduce unique elements of factionalism, ideology, and politics, as over decades, certain ways of thinking, and beliefs for how the conglomerate should be run begin to form, and consolidate. It is generally agreed that the benefits of this internal recruitment outweigh the negatives however.
At lower levels, among the specialists, researchers, and innovators, who are responsible for the many advanced products which the conglomerate produces, similarly to the executives, Nakaioma prefers an insular approach in most cases, establishing, or funding existing universities, and other such academies in-order to recruit Atrisian students directly into their work force upon graduation, picking the best and brightest of the bunch, and finding positions for most regardless. However, unlike the executives, some exceptions can be made at this level, and in these rare exceptions, third-party sources are scouted, and poached from other corporations, prestigious organizations, or even governments, depending on the skill set required.
While at the lowest level, the factory workers, low-level managerial staff, and service sector workers, becoming a member of the conglomerate is as simple as sending in an application to a subsidiary's HoloNet site, and appearing for an interview with the local site manager (Second to the Site Director, depending on the size of the site). These positions are usually recruited from the local population, as bringing in Atrisian workers to fill menial roles, and manual labor work would be far too cost-inefficient to justify. In this circumstance, Nakaioma proves to be a very large job creator on most planets that it operates on.

For the overwhelming majority of Nakaioma's personnel, the everyday, low-level workers that is, it is a fairly standard job. Wages are liveable, tasks are expected to be carried out, and responsibilities are assigned by managerial staff. The higher-up the ladder one goes however, and the more politicized, clique-based, and dangerous it becomes, at the highest levels, where these faction-based decisions, and cultural shifts begin, the tone is well-policed by the family, and corporate patriarch, in-order to prevent any serious schisms from rupturing open. One is still in-danger of having their career, or reputation smeared, or ruined beyond repair at the executive level, if they do not play nice with others. Hyper-competition is rife within the upper echelons of the conglomerate, information brokers are regularly contacted, for exposing, or incriminating evidence on office rivals, and alliances are made between influential figures, sometimes by handshake, sometimes by marriage. One must be socially adept, politically agile, and ready to switch sides at any given point in time, as one day their boss may become a pariah at the next board meeting, and no one wants to be seen with a pariah.
In the public eye, Nakaioma's reputation is that it doesn't particularly have a reputation, which is essentially how it is supposed to be. Carefully curated by legions of public relations experts, and sociology professors, Nakaioma's ad campaigns are generic, corporate talk of 'building better worlds', and 'making your life better'. It is criticised for the things that many corporations are criticised for, workplace harassment, not caring for the environment, pay wage increase demands, and so forth. While beyond generic advertisements, Nakaioma styles itself as a 'cultural ambassador' of the Atrisian people, and regularly provides monetary support to Atrisian immigrant communities across the galaxy, and hosts elaborate Atrisian cultural festivals. In the underworld however, things rapidly change, daunting, overwhelming, and lethal, the conglomerate is best avoided, and not one that many would dare to cross. Known to dispatch its unique special agents, a detachment of its security officers, or simply a legion of lawyers. It does not take kindly to challenges from society's lowest.
Upon signing up with the corporation, or any one of its subsidiaries, all Nakaioma employees are given two things; a small pin of the company's flower logo, which is to be worn at all times when at work, and the implantation of a microchip slightly beneath the skin of their arm, which acts as their employee identification device. The microchip in-particular also functions as a tracking device, allowing the corporation to ensure the safety of its work force, minimizing the risk of kidnappings, muggings, or other such occurrences.
Maintaining an air of self-discipline, uniformity, and professionalism, the conglomerate exercises a number of both official, and unofficial rules for its employees to live by, from bowing when one greets a customer, or superior within the corporate ladder, to the neatness of one's uniform. Bowing in-particular has been strongly enforced under Saro Nakaioma's reign, as a way of showing respect for authority in the work place, failure to abide by this protocol can, and has often led to immediate dismissal from the corporation. In regards to uniforms, all Nakaioma, and Nakaioma-affiliated employees must wear strictly regulated gender-neutral jumpsuits, or business suits, depending on their position, and subsidiary. Above all, the conglomerate prizes discretion, and all employees regardless of position must sign a thorough non-disclosure agreement upon beginning their service with Nakaioma. Failure to abide by this NDA has led to fierce legal retaliation.. And worse.
Grow and expand, this is the ultimate drive of the conglomerate, to ensure the security, and continuity of the Nakaioma family legacy, the conglomerate must continue to grow its influence, wealth, and power throughout the galaxy. Whether this be via the expansion of existing operations, or the acquisition of new corporations. The pace of, and attitude in regards to tackling this goal change with every family patriarch, but the goal remains the same. To Saro Nakaioma in-particular, the status of his vast corporate empire is a reflection of his status as a man, for the sake of his honor, he must be absolute in his rule, and unending in his pursuit for power.

Saro Nakaioma - Family Patriarch, Chief Executive Officer
Amaya Nakaioma - Youngest Daughter of Saro, CEO of Nakaioma Medical, and Rescue-Recovery
Founded in 167BBY by Hideki Nakaioma, NAKAIOMA, which was at that point known as Nakaioma Energy Consultants, started its life as a small energy corporation making its profit off of limited contract work in the Mid, and Outer Rim. A moderately well-off businessman on Coruscant, Hideki Nakaioma was originally an immigrant from Atrisia, working at another firm, he had put together his entire life savings into this dream of his, investing in the expensive equipment needed to get his feet off the ground, and landing his first contract with a small planetary government in the Outer Rim. This contract was successfully completed, as it had not been a particularly intensive one, and as such, this had given him some level of confidence with the bankers he needed to invest into his start-up corporation, as even with the completion of the contract, NEC's account was going in the red, and Hideki by his lonesome did not have the credits remaining to keep everything going.
For most of Hideki's life, Nakaioma would remain a small corporation, managing to fit its humble business into two floors worth of space in an office building, on one of Coruscant's lower levels. Hideki was nothing if not a patient man however, and through his practice of slow, but steady, and sustainable growth, by the end of his life, Nakaioma Energy Consultants would have grown to maintain several operations across a few worlds in the Outer Rim, albeit still small in nature. His son, Taba Nakaioma, would take control of the family business following his father's death, and after half a lifetime of teaching, and mentorship from his father, would go onto grow the company at twice the rate his old man had. This period in NAKAIOMA's history is often referred to as among the most volatile, and decisive, even with the Clone Wars, rise of the Empire, Yuuzhan Vong, and Gulag virus included. As at this stage, the company was still small, although growing at a healthy rate, and any failure here, would undoubtedly have led to the total demise of the still infantile business.
More bold than his father, Taba would spend his life aggressively pursuing government contracts, effectively utilizing his charming demeanour as he worked his way into attending charity fundraisers, and other such socialite-packed events. Chatting up all kinds of public officials, and private donors alike, and ensuring to namedrop his company at every chance he could. Securing both private funding, and the government contracts so terribly needed for the exponential growth Taba craved, Nakaioma Energy Consultants would see its profits quadruple during Taba's reign, and it was near the end of his own life, that he would make the decision to construct the first, primordial stage of Nakaioma Plaza. A small, but still impressive office building for this era of the company's development, their former office space having grown far too small for the company's continued growth.
Taba's daughter, Michiko would more or less ride on the wave that her father had created, known as being a level-headed, calm figure, who knew not to rock the boat, given the family business' good fortunes, she resisted several attempts at enticement to marriage from sleazy Coruscanti businessmen who wanted a pie of the pie, and would end up marrying one of her own employees, a young man recently immigrated from Onami Prime, like her grandfather. It is generally agreed by outside observers that this was where the unspoken Nakaioma family tradition of marrying within their own ethnic group begun, and with this, the overall family obsession with preserving, and exporting their own culture, from then on seemingly not allowing the Coruscanti locals to influence their customs, or way of thinking. This assumption is backed by the company's shift in general recruitment, to specifically looking for persons of Onami-chi descent at this time.
As the Separatist crisis begun, and the threat of secession, and war grew, Haneda Nakaioma, an overly cautious man who's paranoia happened to pay off given the situation in the galaxy at the time, would order the evacuation of all NEC assets from the Outer Rim. It was this move that led to him receiving a civilian medal for 'denying the enemy access to equipment and resources', and subsequently receiving the confidence needed to secure a very large government contract from the Republic itself for the expansion of existing energy extraction, and refinement capabilities in the Core, and Inner Rim, in-order to make up for the lost sources from the now Separatist-aligned Outer Rim worlds. It was here that NEC was rebranded as PETROCORE, and later detached as a subsidiary from the new NAKAIOMA corporation, which would act as PETROCORE's management, and holdings company.
Following the end of the Clone Wars, and the rise of the Empire, NAKAIOMA would be spared from nationalisation, unlike many other corporations were at the time, and control would remain with the Nakaioma family, as it had been perceived as loyal to the Empire during those pivotal first months of imperialization. It would continue to be loyal to the Empire, and would as a result of this be able to expand its operations significantly during this time, taking advantage of the collapse of some of the largest former corporate entities, and the rather inept management of the others, which had not been spared nationalisation. It was during the reign of the Empire that NAKAIOMA would establish Nakaioma Medical, and in a short number of years, would use this opportune moment to acquire several of what would have been Nakaioma Medical's vastly superior competitors during the time of the Republic. Haneda Nakaioma is a controversial figure among anti-imperialists, but he is often celebrated in the conglomerate as being a man who put family before anything else.
In the years after the collapse of the Empire, and the ascension of the New Republic, NAKAIOMA would see one of its greatest eras of growth ever, establishing GalactiCom Holocommunications, acquiring Hosnian Military Systems, a massive corporation which had once been a major supplier to the Imperial military, and rebranding it as Nakaioma Defense Dynamics, and establishing the Horizon Corporation, moving into the home, and personal manufacturing, and services sector. It was during this time that Nakaioma Plaza would first be able to be seen among the Coruscanti skyline, continuing to grow as its parent corporation did. In the typical Nakaioma tradition, the Yuuzhan Vong War, as devastating as it was, even to the conglomerate, also presented opportunity. Taking on a number of vast wartime contracts, it had been lucky that the conglomerate had acquired a defense contractor, and this, along with GalactiCom, would ensure that Nakaioma would make a big presence in the aftermath of the War, during the Galactic Reconstruction era.
After the War, Raiko Nakaioma would oversee the founding of Nakaioma Heavy Industries, and the acquisition of the Hosnian Shipping Group, another major corporation at the time. Both of these would find themselves being extremely handy as the conglomerate oversaw much of the Alliance's reconstruction efforts, establishing its roots as a considerable presence in the construction, development, and maintenance of galactic infrastructure, including energy, raw materials, communications, and even food, as United Agriculture, a Cyndrillian firm would likewise find itself being bought out shortly after HSG Shipping. As the Gulag virus wrecked havoc across the galaxy, NAKAIOMA would hunker down, with Raiko turning Nakaioma Plaza into a fortress, and the conglomerate's newly established Nakaioma Security Services being deployed into action for the first time, enforcing quarantines, and protecting Nakaioma properties, and assets with extreme prejudice.
During the Four Hundred Year Darkness, the conglomerate was one of the few entities that would continue to exist as a coherent organization in more than one star system. Coordinating the continued survival, and existence of the corporation, and its subsidiaries, it would have been accurate to describe it as more of a military dictatorship from within, than a corporation during this era. Acting as part humanitarian group, and part military enforcement as the disorganized, and weak planetary governments could seemingly no longer effectively enforce the law, or even provide for many of their citizens during this time. The Raiko-chi faction would see its formation during these four centuries, a collection of militarists, xenophobes, and supremacists who would see Nakaioma's destiny as being more than just that of a corporation, and more akin to an Atrisian empire of its own.

The Raiko-chi faction would see its formation during these four centuries, a collection of militarists, xenophobes, and supremacists who would see Nakaioma's destiny as being more than just that of a corporation, and more akin to an Atrisian empire of its own.
But eventually the darkness would give way to the light, and the galaxy would once more see some semblance of stability, and normality return to it, as new governments formed to take advantage of the all-too present power gaps, factions within Nakaioma would threaten to tear the corporation into a full-blown civil war, as the Raiko-chi would demand that they seize this opportunity to take actual, physical territory, and establish themselves as a true governing force. While the Michiko-chi, a new faction formed around stability, sustainable growth, and the status quo of corporate business would all too strongly object to such a risky, and idiotic move, instead pushing for further integration of the conglomerate's services into the galactic infrastructure. It was here that Szuko Nakaioma would make his decision, and within the span of a day, several of the Raiko-chi faction's leadership would simply disappear, ending this would-be civil war before it could even begin.
Szuko's reign would see the establishment of Nakaioma Capital, a financing group to serve as a central entity for the conglomerate's finances, and to provide other services such as loans, real estate, trading, and such. While existing subsidiaries would see massive growth, taking advantage yet again of crisis after crisis, and war after war, as the powers that be struggled for galactic domination. Though Nakaioma Plaza itself would be victim to the consequences of such power struggles, during the Sith sacking, and occupation of Coruscant, fortunately Szuko had ordered the evacuation of all important personnel, and assets from the site days before the invasion had occurred. Spreading the conglomerate's command, and coordination capabilities throughout the galaxy in-order to prevent any one conflict, or attack decimating its ability to continue operations, a move that would likely save the corporation a great deal of pain, until they were able to reestablish their headquarters in Nakaioma Plaza, following the Alliance's retaking of Coruscant.
The old man's reign was not meant to be however, and as quickly as it had begun, it had ended. Perhaps the Force had sensed his job was done, or whatever a Force-sensitive would say. His son, Saro Nakaioma, would take the reigns of the corporation almost immediately, something not particularly common during transitions of familial power, as there had always been a lengthy period of mourning before any formal transition occurred, although in Saro's case, the mourning did still occur. Citing 'security concerns amid a tense geopolitical situation', de-facto finding his own faction, the Saro-chi organizing around him, as he advanced for massively renewed growth in the conglomerate, and far more aggressive expansion, and acquisition of other entities, though did not lean too heavily into either the Raiko-chi, or Michiko-chi factions in regards to being too extremist, or too passive.
And so this is where we arrive at, in the year 864ABY, Nakaioma Plaza is one of the largest structures on Coruscant, Saro Nakaioma is pushing for a more aggressive approach to the corporation's growth, and NAKAIOMA itself stands as one of the largest of it's kind in the galaxy. The only question remains, where does it go from here?

Inherited from his father, Szuko Nakaioma, when he unexpectedly passed away. Saro Nakaioma took the reigns of the massive conglomerate as CEO at the age of 38. Where his father was a steady hand, never wanting to unnecessarily rock the boat, in-order to ensure the conglomerate's continued longevity, in the face of an unstable galaxy. Saro had an opposite view of the situation, seeing the chaos that was enveloping everyone and everything as a means to the NAKAIOMA Corporation's growth. Investing heavily in new projects, and innovations in all sectors of their business, and even expanding into new ones. He has become a popular figurehead for the brand name, and is well liked, and feared-when required, among the core elite.
