A subsidiary of the Nakaioma Conglomerate. Nakaioma Heavy Industries is, per its namesake, principally responsible for the development of heavy industries. Specializing in mining, refining, and construction generally. Established during the galactic reconstruction era, to capitalize on the need for such materials and construction capabilities, NKHI, alongside PETROCORE are the two subsidiary groups most notable for the Nakaioma Conglomerate's expansion into the Outer Rim. As to fuel the constant, and ever-growing demand of the galactic interior, and the trillions who live in it, more and more resources are required. A typical trait of the group, NKHI is one of the largest in its field, and in the centuries since it was founded, has taken a prime position among the suppliers of the many factions, and private entities of the galaxy. Providing the materials for skyscrapers and navies alike.
Differentiating it from others in its field of expertise. NKHI not only mines the raw materials required for further refinement, and distribution. But conducts both the refining, and distribution of the finished products entirely within its own structure. A number of internal divisions, including NKHI Refineries, and NKHI Logistics, the latter being aided by HSG Shipping, existing to serve these functions. In the present day, Nakaioma Heavy Industries is well known for its mass production of high quality base materials, which are later used for more specialized purposes. Including Dura and Plas as the most recognizable ones, some examples of these products being Durasteel, and Durafiber, Plastoid, and PlasTech. Frequently, Nakaioma Heavy Industries' Construction subdivision will be contracted for major construction projects, such as planetary-wide infrastructure jobs, or rebuilding wartorn worlds and systems.
Less aggressive than its closest relative, PETROCORE. Nakaioma Heavy Industries has throughout its history seen relatively smooth sailing in its proliferation across the galaxy. Likely due to the urgent need for such services in many war-torn, and otherwise savaged regions, due to disaster after disaster. A popular contractor among public agencies, and governments. Nakaioma Heavy Industries has one of the larger employee bases than its fellow subsidiaries, and overall it employs among the highest number of personnel in its field. Perhaps due to the more competitive nature of the field that it is in however, NKHI has been known for its more cautious, and thought-out approach to corporate expansion. And has been far more amicable to its competitors, than others would have been, largely due to its very secure market position no doubt.
Inherited from his father, Szuko Nakaioma, when he unexpectedly passed away. Saro Nakaioma took the reigns of the massive conglomerate as CEO at the age of 38. Where his father was a steady hand, never wanting to unnecessarily rock the boat, in-order to ensure the conglomerate's continued longevity, in the face of an unstable galaxy. Saro had an opposite view of the situation, seeing the chaos that was enveloping everyone and everything as a means to the Nakaioma Conglomerate's growth. Investing heavily in new projects, and innovations in all sectors of their business, and even expanding into new ones. He has become a popular figurehead for the brand name, and is well liked, and feared-when required, among the core elite.
