- When worn as jewelry or wielded in a weapon such as a lightsaber, the sapphire grants a powerful healing effect, allowing wounds to regenerate quicker, as well as purifying Dark Side corruption in its various forms.
- The sapphire allows the wearer/wielder to remain connected to the Force at all times, even in the presence of ysalamiri or Void Stones.
- Healing Stone: The sapphire quickens the regeneration of wounds considerably, though it still takes time. A minor injury might take a few minutes to heal, while more severe wounds could take hours. A mortal wound is tricky; recovering may depend on other factors besides the sapphire.
- Purifying Light: The sapphire purifies as well as heals; it can cure Sith poison, blocks attempts at Force Drain (including those performed by vampiric species such as Energy Vampires), and even has the potential to "unmake" certain types of Sith magic, particularly alchemy and Sithspawn. (NB! Of course, players are the ones who call hits.)
- Cannot Be Hidden: It is impossible to hide the sapphire's presence from Force Users, who will sense it as if it were a beacon.
- Holier Than Thou: The sapphire cannot be wielded by Dark Siders.
- Unwieldy: When installed in a weapon such as a lightsaber, the energy output often proves overwhelming for Force Users, who find it difficult to track the blade and focus during combat. To properly utilize, the wielder must be a very skilled bladesman and can't afford to be distracted even for a moment.
- Impractical: In many ways the sapphire is ill-suited for use in combat altogether, but it is particularly vulnerable to energy and kinetic attacks. A lightsaber with it as the focusing crystal would not be able to adequately deflect blaster bolts, and the wielder would find themselves largely defenseless against a kinetic blow.
- Fragile: On its own, the sapphire is far from indestructible. If struck or dropped with sufficient force, it will shatter.

The Star of Atrisia, also known as the Blue Star Ankarres (due to its similarity to the Ankarres Sapphire, a legendary crystal with similar properties) is a precious gemstone believed to have originated on the planet Atrisia in the mines of Chitei. While the exact circumstances of its creation are unknown, it appears to have been formed naturally. It is classified as a corundum crystal, or sapphire, weighs 330 carats, and is in a cabochon cut, meaning that it has been shaped and polished rather than faceted. The sapphire has a very distinct appearance, being a vivid blue color with a white six-rayed "star" pattern on one side. This is caused by trapped titanium atoms forming rutile crystals within the sapphire as it cooled during its formation over millions of years.
Alyosha Drutin obtained the sapphire during a visit to Atrisia in the aftermath of the Sith invasion. He discovered it among the ruins of a natural history museum which had been destroyed during the attack and quickly realized it was not an ordinary gem. He would later use it in a purification ritual to cure Inanna Hoole of Sith poisoning, and subsequently bequeathed it to her.
