It's also important to keep in mind that this is a beta. I just finished playing about two hours with my roommate, trading a controller back and forth. And naturally my first instinct is to just want more and more. But in its beta version, you're pretty much only going to have bare bones. Which I have no complaints about.
Of the primary guns available (all of which were actually used in A New Hope), they all felt really nice. A decent amount of variety, though I certainly hope that more are inbound.
I personally had no connection problems whatsoever. I'm also playing on the east coast when most people are at work so, that might help my case.
One of the unlocks you can get after playing for sometime is a "sharpshooter." It's an equipable item in a way, but it essentially transforms your character into a sniper-class of sorts. I haven't gotten to it yet, but I'm curious to try it out.
It looks like there will be 7 multiplayer modes in total. I'm not sure if they will all be limited to a single location or if they will open up. Only two are available for the beta, and both are quite fun. Pod capture is reminiscent of old battlefront modes (takes place on Sullust, which is the first time we've been there!) and Walker Assault is a cool variation on the Battle of Hoth.
There are 4 different maps for horde mode (only one available now) and each have 15 rounds (only 6 in the beta). Lots of fun. I played solo and couch co-op. There is another offline mode called battle that is solo or vs. with AI. Not available in the beta but I am imaging it's like the map select in the previous offline iterations of Battefront.
The visuals and sound design are absolutely brilliant. Nuff said.
My roommate managed to be Luke Skywalker once. The controls are not intuitive, but you can still manage to mess stuff up even when you have no idea what you're doing.
Vehicles are fun. It took me two tries to get a handle on the controls but once I did I had no problem taking down other fighters. Air to ground is much more difficult, but crashing into things is sometimes a decent option, so, I did that a bunch.
I think it's still too early to judge whether or not this will be a good game. But it has me no less excited than when it was first announced. And, most importantly, I had a ton of fun playing it, even in it's skeletal state.
