Stargate Roleplay

You know, as a Sci-fi nerd, I am a very big fan of Stargate. I've actually been watching Stargate longer than Star Wars, and whilst it is blasphemous for me to say on a Star Wars roleplaying forum, I actually like Stargate and it's universe a lot more than Star Wars. Don't get me wrong, I love Star Wars and I have no intention of quitting SWRP, as I have been doing it for nearly a decade now, but I think it's time for me to spread my wings.

So I was wondering if there were any other Stargate fans out here in the community, that would be willing to join me on an adventure through the Stargate? My Skype is Clamju, get in touch to discuss some storylines and yeah, debate guys. :D

It's been ages since I've last rped in a Stargate Setting. I have fond memories of the site I had been on (though it is sadly shut down and has been for a few years now.) It had a good system in which there were faction stores set up for the Tauri, Goa'uld, Jaffa etc etc. You got credits for posts, and they had a Did I system which meant that quality of the post was always seen as greater than the quantities of posts.

SG-1 is my favorite TV-show of all time, and better than any trek in my opinion. I loved it to bits, but stopped watching when I found out that they'd just done a massive climactic battle and then recycled the villains in a shameless ripoff of themselves. My only criticism of that show is that they didn't know when to let it die. It's not stargate without O'neill.

Haven't watched Atlantis, and I've heard that the villains in that are similarly recycled. In my opinion, Stargate should have finished with the battle of Antarcitca--kinda went downhill from there. Anubis' death should have been the finale--no subsequent villains were ever going to compare.

Atlantis is pretty good. And the episodes when Daniel, O'neill, and Teal'c guest star in are hilarious.

Was it called Stargate: Oblivion? That was the site I was on. There was a faction I remember, which I think it was called The Syndicate or something along that lines. Was the big criminal empire on the site rather than the Lucian Alliance. My biggest character I had on the site was Lord Zarcaine Kuriyoshi, species was custom, called Citherion. I also had a couple others though I'm forgetting most of their names. One I do remember was Archimonde who was part of that Syndicate faction.

It was years back. I remember a few things about it here and there. Mainly Thor the site Admin.

I agree that Anubis was the best villain in the Stargate Universe, and that no other villain was going to compare, but I reckon Baal did a pretty good job of it following Anubis's fall. Always said that the Goa'uld should have remained the main villains of the show and if they did that, then we could of explore Baal more as a villain in my opinion. They should of, at the very least, done an in depth story into Baal rebuilding his Empire, so there would of been a triumvirate of factions fighting for galactic dominance or something. Would of been fun.

@Zarren Bouqi

I thought the concept was quite cool, but not executed properly in my opinion; and the fact that the Ori became aware of the Milky Way galaxy because of an 'accident' was a bad introduction. The Ori would of been a good introduction to Stargate: Atlantis imo. Wraith vs the Ori? Would of shown us how the Wraith defeated the original Ancients.

Universe had potential, but was too Star Trek for Stargate. Stargate is about the actual Stargate and Universe was about a ship. Just didn't mix.
