- Small probes that can be monitored from the ship to scan for a number of targets from planets to starships
- Not an attack tool
- Cannot always find cloak or reduced radar cross-section ships
Designed to be used with the StarMapper line of star system mapping and analysis equipment, the StarHunt Probe Droids are deployed from a starship and sent out into a variety of formations throughout a local system to assist with mapping.a variety of parameters when it comes to uncharted systems. Each probe droid is calibrated before deployment and can be used to find a multitude of data. This includes but is not limited to emergency beacons, space debris, high energy flux sites, asteroids, comets, and planetoids. The data is transmitted directly back to the starship that launched them.
The probe droids are very good when hunting items in space, however specialized equipment can dampen their range of pinpointing or completely identifying starships and space stations. Additionally, while these probes can identify white noise and data transmissions in real space, it will take more advanced droids to fully map a planet’s surface, for resources or hidden Rebel bases.
While used primarily for data retrieval, these probes are possible to be used, by a very experienced operator, during war times to help identify individual ship locations across a great trek of space, however, as targets are moving and probes are readjusting, there is still a fine bit of guesswork to be completed until said target can be absolutely located.
