Suggestion Starship factory template

I'm looking at getting back into the factory for fun, but the new (could be pretty old since the last time I did starship factory stuff was on a character I purged forever ago) but the new method of filling in all these boxes rather than just using the template feels very user-unfriendly.

It's missing required fields such as hanger rating, squadron count, and hyperdrive rating, which makes formatting it look pretty impossible (this is very important). Stuff like weapons can't be hyperlinked in the form if you're using something custom in the factory. Size ratings are tripled now (starship class, then size rating, and then hight, width, and length) rather than just being entered in meters once.

I'm just curious why we don't keep using the stickied template since it gives more creative freedom while still having all the required information included. This feels very much like those job applications that make you upload a resume and then fill in all that information into their boxes that aren't quite fit for the information they ask you to put in.

The problem is, they shouldn't have to. The boxes were supposed to replace putting stuff in the post section.

My biggest complaint is the fact that, because the boxes are at the bottom, no one reads them, and it encourages the mentality that factory is only for personal use.

I don't disagree with you. I think if they could make it work better, the boxes would be nice. Make it so we can put links in them, have it so filling in the boxes functions like filling in a document and then it outputs the filled out template.

They just look ugly, when making a submission, I wanna make it look good, and the boxes prevent that.

I think the bigger crime is that a couple of the factory templates don't have the code we can just copy paste anymore so if you wanna use the old templates you gotta figure out the color coding yourself or get it close. I personally track down the colors from other templates that still have the old code available to copy and paste lol

not a big deal, just extra time spent fiddling with code that used to be easier to find.

similarly, and especially because we can't put hyperlinks in the new boxes and the image field is broken, for myself at least it's just an extra form I have to fill out twice, and some subs don't use the old templates at all anymore so there's missing wookiepedia links for materials or components that aren't always easy to track down, especially if there's a typo.

I understand it's not a high priority nor is it starship exclusive, and I'm thankful we have the option to use the old templates which makes this manageable imo. This is just a small quality of life pet peeve I thought I'd bring up since we're discussing the templates lol

I don't really like the new factory template aesthetic but I think I've only used it like once or twice so it honestly doesn't affect me much.

I use the codex more and for now we can still make those look nice.

I don't like the boxes above and below the main template. Doesn't look good to me.

Codex is BASED for not having them.

I tend to hybridize between the two parts, it IS easy that the boxes do list the production and open/closed market at the top of the sub, which is much easier to spot than it was on old stuff...
