Starting Location

ALRIGHT!

First big topic of discussion is starting location. Personally, I'm open to anywhere, but a lot of people are going to hate us because we want to take over the galaxy, so we should probably be strategic about our initial location. So if anyone would like to throw out an idea, we're all ears.

We could use Crakull.

For those who don't know, I have a dark facility there as the HQ for Ignus Black, which is a supporting company for this faction (Ignus Industries is as well, but it's not going to sell itself as such just yet).

Right now we have no allies, no enemies, no anything. The one thing I do know about Crakull's location is that it's potentially in the path of the Commonwealth's planned expansion. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing as we could try to work with them, either as friends or enemies depending on the outcome of talks.

We haven't approached any factions yet because we wanted to wait until we had some other people in the faction to help us do so. I'm quite diplomatic for a Sith, but I don't think a lot of people will want to talk to me. :p

Keep in mind of the Commonwealth, the Iron Empire, and possibly the Black Empire will be in that area too.

Im not suggesting against Crakull, its a good choice, but it will be crowded quite quickly.

That's another reason I wanted to open it up to discussion. I'm aware that area is popular all of a sudden (expected it, actually). So I figured discussing it as a group would be better than just going ahead with it.

Funnily enough, if it is the other side of the galaxy that is now more open. Places like Kamino being now easily accessible.

Your choices boil down now (from what i can see) starting in the north for quick and possibly great conflicts with others, or starting in the southern reaches (Eastern on a correct map) and having great choice on stories and expansion routes.

I personally would chose the southern route, simply because of room reasons, but i do see the merit in the northern choice, as im sure you and the commonwealth might be fast friends assuming i understand both faction's purposes.

Kamino is currently being ransacked by The New Order (another Imperial group). We could come into conflict with them, but I know all of their writers and they're all good people, so at worst we could have some good stories.

With the north being so crowded by recently created factions, many of which will be trying to crush us, I think the South would allow us to grow, but also put us near to factions we could fight against (TNO and the Underworld as far as minor factions go, and the GA and TKO and even FO for majors).

So what planets down there would be best? That's the question. I'm taking a look at them right now to see if there's any that stand out to me.

Hmm... Considering the rather large amount of Imperial orders, I did not know about the New Order, so my apologies for ignorance on their members or ideals. As for the Underground, i am familiar with but had not known they were going on that path to major hood.

The Kathol Outback I don't think will be a problem when it comes to space. They to me seem like a group that would be more interested in story conflict rather than interfere with the map game outside of the Kathol sector, unlike the GA who might but I had thought would be more focused on the FO and the Black Empire, and the Iron Empire. (Plus the Mandos.)

Will all these thoughts in mind, and remembering the Technos are trying at Geonosis... Hmm.

Perhaps the hexes around Mimban?

The reason I specify the Hexes is because that area is while lacking major big name worlds has its fair share of still pretty important ones. Like Gyndine, Cato Neimodia, Nubia, Deneba, Iktoch. It puts you closer to established powers but still creating a buffer with those powers that might appear. I would not suggest Mimban itself, though, due to events during the rebellion on the planet pretty much reducing any significance for it.

Haha. It's alright. TNO is the real Empire. Very much old fashioned. Though no emperor.

TKO is definitely more interested in conflict than they are in taking over everything. I like them, personally, they could be fun for us to RP with.

Surron is a good location. It's got a starship manufacturer there we could draw on. Southwest of Mimban on the map.

Mimban itself wouldn't be bad either. Those storms could be beneficial to our defense.
