Starting Over

Recovery, repair and taking care of refugees never seemed to end. With the fall the Alliance and then Commenor soon after, Jairdain was being kept busy. Now the recovery was almost complete, she might be able to relax a bit.

In this part of the planet, it should only be another few days before most of the work was done. A bell rang in the area and she stood up from the ground where she had been working.

Dusting off her pants, she did not look anything like nobility at the moment, but a regular worker. Not afraid to ever get her hands dirty, Jairdain helped when and where she could. As the others in the area also started to prepare to head to their homes, she did the same.

Her stomach growled at her and Jaiardain thought of food for the first time in a few hours. Reaching a hand out to tap the shoulder of a nearby person, she waited until he turned before speaking.

"Do you know of any places to eat in this area? You see I've spent most of my time in Chasin City and only recently Juniper City. This one I am not familiar with."

Dagos turned after being tapped on the shoulder and faced a woman he had not seen before. She explained that she was hungry but not familiar enough with the area to know where to go to eat. She stood almost a head shorter than he did but she was older, by a few years at least. Her clothing was plain but well-made and dirty from a day's work, he long black hair was pulled up in a sensible way spas not to obscure her face as she worked but it was her eyes that Dagos lingered on. A shade of bright violet Dagos thought they were the prettiest eyes he had ever seen.

“I know a couple places.” he told her. At 17 Dagos was fairly tall and by most standards handsome, although today, with a fine layer of dust covering his clothes and his left eye swollen and black it might be hard to see the latter. He'd been living here in the slums for over a month working where he could and helping where it was needed. Dagos was born the son of the leader of a nomadic tribe on Haruun Kal and gifted the force, a skill that as nurtured and cultivated from the first.

While he was no Jedi, he had some skill in the arts of healing and that what he spent most of his time doing, giving aid to those who had caught a nasty virus that was plaguing this part of the city. He helped in other ways to. He helped an elderly couple tend their garden, he'd helped a group of kids play tag and last night he broke up a beating outside a local bar where as a thanks he was given an ugly shiner.

“follow me.” he said with a nod of his head and a turn as he strode off. The two would walk for a few minutes before stopping in front of a small blue and white building that looked a few years older than the others surrounding it.

“this is Griz’s place. It's not fancy but he makes the best pancakes for thirty miles in any direction.” Dagos told the stranger as he held the door open for her.

She placed a small amount of trust in those around her. These people here were to help out of the goodness of their hearts and as such they were akin to her. Not feeling any of them would want to hurt or harm her when she tapped the man's shoulder, she hoped that trust wasn't misplaced. When that connection happened, Jairdain sensed the Force within him and she did a mental smile. Very likely he wasn't entirely aware of his ability or thought of it as something natural, but maybe she could help him open a door that was in front of him.

Falling into step behind him she kept up with his larger strides until he stopped in front of a building. That mental smile was still there and now showed on her face when he said they had the best pancakes in the area.

Going in first when he opened the door for her, she waited for him to join her. The smell of the food made her mouth water and it hadn't been until now that she realised just how hungry she really was.

"Thank you! I am Jairdain Ismet. Who do I have to thank for bringing me here?"

Not one to use titles often, she did not include hers when she introduced herself.

They were taken to a table after waiting a few minutes only and menus were placed in front of them. Listening to the deals spoken to her by their server, she made her mind up to try the pancakes Dagos had raved about outside.

“I'm Dagos.” he told her warmly as they we lead to their booth.

“Nice to meet you Jairdain.” he said sliding into the seat across from her. “I don't think I've seen you around before.” Dagos knew he hadn't seen her arundel before he would of remembered another force user down in the projects.

Dagos also ordered pancakes as well with a couple eggs and some meat thrown in for good measure.

“So Jairdain, do you always invite strangers out for meals?” he asked her playfully.

"Nice to meet you as well, Dagos!"

Giving him a friendly smile, Jairdain felt it was nice to have a good meal with a new person. Especially one that seemed as friendly as Dagos. Letting out a little bit of a chuckle at his question, she would point something out.

"You were the one that invited me. I only asked if you knew of a place to eat."

His question did bring something to her mind though and she realized she was far too trusting of people. Granted he had also been around helping with recovery...not everybody could be trusted. She had placed it in him to not lead her to someplace where she could be harmed.

"I am from another part of Commenor and spend most of my time either in the palace at Chastin City or Juniper where I live."

The answer to his question was a long one, but Jairdain would try to keep it short. Some water had been set in front of them and she took a drink before setting her glass back down and appeared to be looking at Dagos.

"I am the regent of Juniper. Formerly the advisor to the crown prince here."

Here being Commenor as a whole. He had disappeared though and she had revealed that she had a son with him. She was his regent until the toddler came of age and was old enough to rule Juniper or even Commenor.

She had certainly gained rank, position and power in her life. It was something she had never dreamed of, but nor would she change it now. Jairdain was where she was meant to be and content with her life.

"What about you, Dagos? What brought you here?"

[member="Dagos Terrek"]

“same thing that brought you here, I think.” he said to her after a moment of thought. Dagos found himself a little uncomfortable now that he learned Jairdain was the regent.

“The force.” Dagos did not reveal that he'd run from his home in shame. That he'd just gotten aboard the first transport he could find and ended up on Commenor, where he has spent most of his time homeless and occasionally sleeping on the floor of the home of a family he'd helped with some chore. The last few weeks he had been calling here, this diner home. He helped unload boxes, and wash dishes and whatever else he could in exchange for being able to sleep on a cot in the store room.

“you're a little far from the palace.”

Picking up on his unease, Jairdain lifted a hand to hold it up for a moment and make a small waving motion.

"I didn't grow up nobility and only recently was appointed into the position. The crown prince's son is going to be the official ruler of Juniper when the time comes. But he is only three now. With his father missing...it falls to me to fill the position."

What Dagos kept hidden from her, she did not know. Jairdain could have easily taken any information she wanted from his young mind, but it wasn't her nature to do that. If he wanted her to know, then he would tell her.

"Yes, I am a little far from the palace, but I like being with the people. So here I am helping and getting my hands dirty."
