..:: The Outer Rim Imperium ::..
The Syndicate
While continuing in the attempt to get the Imperium more recognition among the members on the site, there had been brought forward the idea that perhaps the faction had not been Star Warsy enough to garner attention. While the infrastructure of the faction was there, providing for a unique structure, it is clear to see that we were dragging in terms of membership. While we had a steady amount of people joining, we also had a steady amount that would join, then leave.
This brought up the question as to how we could become a faction that could bring potential members to it, and the ideas came to a head with the decision of either remaining as we were. Becoming a Criminal Syndicate and changing our name, or the last being to change and remain with the name.
As of this moment the Outer Rim Imperium is no longer a Political Organization, and thus has been shifted to become a Criminal Syndicate.
I believe that this could aid in the potential growth of the Faction, and bring in others whom may not exactly feel at home in the Hutt Cartel, or whom may decide that they want a place they can join other than standing alone, joining the Red Ravens in the Techno Union, or being pushed into the Hutts.
Faction Status
With this shift however comes the question as to the status of the Faction. While the goal of the Outer Rim Imperium was to become a Major Faction when it was a Political Organization, it was brought up in an unrelated thread that many of the Criminal Factions and Cult Factions seem to wane and collapse as they are not structured or can not stand when they try their hand at Government.
For this reason, and as it would be in the best interest of the Imperium, we will not be seeking Major Faction status. While yes this means that we will not be Dominioning, or getting the majority of perks that come with being a Major Faction, we are also not being dragged into the Cons that come with being a Major Faction. We will not have to deal with the Drama of Dominions, or the petty politicing that comes with Major Faction status.
Thus in keeping our status as a Minor Faction, we have the potential to expand more rapidly, and produce more story driven threads that are focused on our members rather than being focused on trying to grab more planets than the next person. This also means that we have the potential to expand our reach and power into the Spheres of Influence that are the Major Factions, potentially aiding or hindering their own desires.
I believe that we can achieve more as a Minor Faction than we could as a Major Faction.
Faction Leadership
However this shift brings up the question as to the leadership of the Imperium.
While Tasgetius Blackwood would have been the ideal choice in terms of a Political Organization, due to his background as a fighter and former founder of the now defunct Knights of Kal'Shebbol, I do not feel that he is the proper choice to be the face and potentially the leader of a Criminal Organization.
Thus I am announcing that Tasgetius Blackwood will be stepping down as the Faction Leader (however the faction ownership will remain with the account and the account will be a catch all in terms of getting things done on the faction page and making sure everything is up to date; the character will no longer be the Supreme Sector Lord). All decisions that have been made by Tasgetius during his tenure as the leader will remain in place, and he will become a Sector Lord and will most likely take over the "legal" aspects of the faction, with the creation of an Eclipse Mercenary Force.
In his stead, I have decided that for the time being until the Faction is more or less on its feat, the best character to lead the Imperium is [member="Duchess Magrath"].
This is a character whom I've visited again and again, with a rich back story and an entire untouched family whose roots are deep within the Slave Trade. I believe that she as a character can provide the needed decorum, sophistication and tempered hand that will help the Imperium grow, rather than the bluntness that I see in Tasgetius.
Closing Statement
I believe that the Imperium can become a Faction that can attain the same power that we've seen in other Criminal Factions. I believe that by keeping ourselves a Minor Faction we can hold onto that power longer, and we may even galvanize other Factions and aid in them rising up to Major Faction status.
The Imperium as it is now, a Criminal Syndicate, can do more if we remain dedicated and determined to keep the faction pushing forward.
I am not the Imperium.
I can not do this alone.
We are the Imperium.
If it rises it is because of all of us working together and dedicating our time and hard work to ensure that it rises.
If it falls it will be because of us all, not one singular person.
We are the Imperium, and we will make it rise.
