Faction Station: Dark (Jedi and Explorers)

The gravlock boots of several Jedi and support teams touched the floor of the hangar bay. A reach in the Force could tell that this station hadn’t seen life since the Empire, maybe before. It was hard to say, but one thing was for certain, no other life forms were aboard. Looking around, the lights weren’t even on, but well, they were here to fix that. A few shuttles had followed the Tachyon Rising to the station and Coren looked to the other ships.

He was surprised, this was one of the first times he’d seen Kaia on a mission with him in what felt like years. Smiling through the viewport of his zero G suit he nodded to his daughter. Her droid, Drifter was already floating about, plugging into the computer system. Beyond the Rising, the shuttles were unloading a few others, droids, and organics.

“We need a team to get up to the bridge, and another team to hook up the power. Lets see what we can turn over from this station.”

“So, you’re saying the world is on lock down?” Coren asked the team that was sitting before him. It was the blonde Peyton Steele that he had working for him. She was out doing her own thing more often than not now.

“Yeah, the records state this was an old Jedi Station. It seemed to have been moved. Formerly a beacon but it seems that the station was moved closer to this moon, off the charts and not near a hyperspace route. But from what I’ve been told it was there for a reason.”

“And? Do we know that reason?” The Jedi Master asked.

“No, records seemed to have been scrubbed not long after it was abandoned. But it seems to have a lot of ship records coming and going. Unsure what for, Could be interesting to check out, especially with the Jedi history. I don’t know if it could be useful for Jedi, but there is something hiding here.”

---

Coren looked around and nodded again. “Be careful when you get that computer system online. And keep your eyes open. Nothing alive here but… there is something… off about the world.”

Something off about the world was right, specifically that they weren't on a world. The Neti had been doing a great deal of travel in the past few years, but that didn't change the fact she still felt off when it came to space travel. Not unbalanced or weakened, but unrooted. Which was appropriate, as she was technically a tree, despite her humanoid appearance. Trees do not do well in space. Nor do humans or any of the other countless species, but they were short-lived enough to forget their roots.

And humans, well, Myri wasn't convinced they knew what it meant to have roots in a place. But, with this new station being discovered, she'd come along with the other Jedi to poke around and see what was up.

"I will go to the bridge," Myri said, "Hooking up a station's power is a bit beyond my technical skill level."

DERELICT STATION

"I'll help with the engineering then."

Captain Drake wasn't an expert on power systems but he knew enough. His survey ship the Constellation had rendezvoused with the Tachyon Rising and was now station keeping over a nearby gas giant. Technical challenges and frontier salvage protocols were exactly why he was here. Ancient Jedi mysteries Atlas would leave to the space wizards. He was still a little superstitious about the Force and its wielders.

"First priority is restoring life support," the explorer activated his suit's glowlamps, "Then we'll see about turning on some lights in here."

He was just about to move deeper into the station when Coren Starchaser Coren Starchaser cautioned them. Atlas paused and turned to look at the leader of their expedition. Something about the warning made him want to reach for the Glie-44 pistol on his hip. He resisted that impulse. Space wizards had a thing about waving around blasters.

"That one of your Jedi instincts?"
Drake asked him still not really sure what that meant, "What do you mean, off?"

Standing up, Tessa clicked a helmet in place for her explo suit and nodded as her boots mag-clamped to the floor. She could feel the ship in her mind. The implant from Denon she had helped design were like a turbo to her Force-born abilities. Thankfully, most took them as cybernetics, and she was careful to mute her presence to a minimum. Or, as best she could anyway. The powers systems were well in hand, but waking the bridge up might take another hand entirely. One she might be well suited for.

Striding forward, the read-head slipped her datapad into the holster at her thigh, and spoke. Her words were precise, her tone quiet. Her people learned non-verbal communication as just another language, so she spoke a lot through her posture and face. Though not many would know the subtle cues and their full meaning. Another saving grace.

"If you're waking this place up, I'll be the alarm. I'm good with such things, but I agree... We need the life support on before we muck about too much."

Her part spoken, she leaned against a bulkhead door with crossed arms and nodded to Coren Starchaser Coren Starchaser and Myri Oakheart . Atlas Drake Atlas Drake would do fine in the other part. And somehow, Coren felt familiar, so she planned to stick vaguely close to the Jedi. See if she could place the feeling he gave her.

What was left of her had been asleep for a very long time.

And time was a strange thing that didn't matter to a ghost trapped to an artifact in an ancient, derelict, and abandoned station. That part of her that remained felt them. Not alone anymore.

Interesting.

Her presence shifted and stirred further and for a moment, the station's lights flickered. She was protecting something, wasn't she? Or protecting others from it, right? Maybe when she awoke further she'd remember. Or perhaps she'd be left alone to continue her slumber.

Having teams like this was always good, some Forcers, some not. Forcers would see something that wasn’t there, and the non? Well, they were able to keep their head about themselves in the most bizarre situations. At least, that was what Coren knew of Atlas Drake Atlas Drake . The Captain had proven himself time and again with the Coalition and Alliance that followed. Looking between the Neti and the Captain, he nodded.

“Keep in comms check, the both of you. Myri, if you can get the monitoring systems online, that’s step number one. And Drake, I think you’ll be better off than me. There is a records room, and I want to see what this station held.” He took a deep breath in an effort to clear his mind. “I’m not rightly sure. I think it’s the Force, but they wanted to keep something hidden down there, I think.”

Turning to Tessa, he nodded. “Yeah, I want to see if we can break into the records. I hate splitting the group like this but what I’m feeling…” He couldn’t shake it, and was a bit nervous that once they found it, they would be wishing it was left alone.

“Keep in comms.” He nodded as he headed down one hallway. Guided by the Force.
