The need for a dedicated medical frigate resulted in the Stella-class frigate design, which was originally inspired by the dated Nebulon-B frigate design. Three variants exist of the Stella: Hospital Ship, Troop transport, and Materiel transport. Each are, due to their support roles centered around personnel and battlefield assets, they are much more defensive than offensive.
The hospital ship sacrifices the hangar bay in exchange for a larger and better equipped hospital bay and expanded the lateral docking ports near the med-bays for speedier admittance of patients. The med-bays themselves are fully equipped to the standards of the best hospitals in the Hapes Consortium (within the parameters of what a medbay the size of a frigate's hangar bay can offer), staffed by both volunteer civilian physicians and Royal Navy corpsmen. These ships tend to stick the back of a fleet formation to tend to the wounded and are often painted with conspicuous Hospital-ship markings.
Troop and Material transport variants have a limited hangar bay which allow for a dropship to dock for loading and unloading of vehicles and Hapan Marines. These transports are also typically equipped with drop pods for orbital insertion of troops and armoured vehicles behind enemy lines.
- Intent: Creation of a frigate uniquely Hapan which can compete with (or outclass) the Nebulon B

- Personnel transport, Materiel and cargo transport, and medical configurations exist for this ship, although all such variants are dedicated for their roles when configured.
- Medical variants are equipped like a full-service hospital and to the same high standards of care that the Hapan citizenry at large are accustomed to. It sacrifices a full hangar bay for this, relying on hard-dock ports instead which are positioned close to the med-bays. https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Hospital_ship/Legends
- Personnel transport variants can transport a company of Space Marines into an engagement zone and tend to come equipped with orbital insertion drop pods and a troop transport dropship bay.
- Materiel variants carry drop pods for crews, equipment, and armour vehicles and also possess a dropship bay
- Each ship variant comes standard with high defensive capability to maximize survivability with relatively light weaponry compared to other frigate-type ships for standoff fire support.

- Very strong on defense owing to its intended role as a support ship, especially for transporting troops, weaponry, ground vehicles, and wounded patients for which the ship's survivability is paramount.
- Lightly armed, it does not perform well on offense which, at best, only really serves to fight back in a stand-off situation.
