Freedom Is Our Birthright
Life on Anaxes wasn’t easy for Sterling. Not much is when you find yourself born to a middle class family situated on an asteroid belt. There weren’t many ways off Anaxes, either. The main route was the naval war college that churned out pilots for the Galactic Alliance. Sterling’s father had been a pilot, as had his brother before he was shot down by Sith TIEs. It was a dangerous way out to be sure, but in Sterling’s mind it was worth it.
He enrolled in the college as soon as he was able. His earlier days piloting local shipping freighters paid dividends in the simulator. With time he proved himself a worthy candidate for flight training, and found himself assigned a flight group full of upperclassmen. He built fast friendships in his training group, forming an especially close bond with the pilot Aster Jace, who was on his way towards graduation when a freshman Sterling was placed in his squadron. Over the years at the naval college Sterling earned his keep and then some, eventually taking the number one spot in his class of recruits. That was how he graduated, too, earning him a fast track to the Alliance frontline. There he reunited with his old squadmate Aster, still going by his old callsign Comet. Sterling’s own callsign, Moonboy, was then bestowed upon him by Jace, a reference to a training accident from their time together at the college.
Only time will tell if the skills Sterling picked up on Anaxes will be enough to keep him alive. But Moonboy is gonna give it his all, even if he crashes and burns a few times in the process. -
