Public Stormy Weather On The Sea!

"Her entire existence terrifies me to no end"

So here Mliss was in all her stupidity- or so the others abound the ship said- doing exactly what She set out to do.

You see, Mliss was reading the holonet, as one does, and she came across a piece about how the planet Tion was a very dangerous place. Only recently had a ship crashed and the occupants have gone missing. Now to Mliss’ mind, it seemed about the right idea for a BRILLIANT story on survival. But she couldn’t fully connect with the main character- no, she needed to LIVE it. So that was what she was doing. After the incident, they had banned all travel by water. The only reason this one was going was because there was a high-paying smuggling job that was on the center island in this world. Mliss planned to participate, the unique characters that the job attracted would be good for the drama... Now she was currently on the deck of a medium-sized cruise ship filled with all sorts of misfits all on the way to the small island.

...

M’liss smiled, notepad in hand, and started out towards the deck. A mighty storm was brewing and the dark clouds had an ominous tone to it. Walking into the breezy deck, the smell of saltwater tickled her nostrils in a pleasant way.

Hey- That’s good! How about this? The heroine of the story took one step out on the deck and marveled at the view, so different from her own home of no water. The blue-green sea glistened, she threw back her head with a laugh. All was going right. Yes- yes that’s good.

Mliss smiled and took out her trusty pen that was always tucked behind her ear, swiftly, she made the marks on paper that formed words, sentences, paragraphs and soon to be a story.

She continued walking forwards and leaned against the railing. This was perfect, but what would make it more perfect was if-

“Oi!! Young lady!!” A call came from behind her.

M’liss turned around, her usual smile on her face.

“Yes?”

There was a deckhand making his way towards her, he was wearing the iconic blue and white striped top. He was probably in his mid-twenties but looked older. What really caught Mliss’ attention was his expression.

Hm- Worried, in preparation for something and... What is it?

Her mother would be disappointed in her forgetting about her heritage, Lorrdian are supposed to be masters of non-verbal communication!!

“Young Lady,” He said huffily as he came to a stop in front of her,” Do you see those clouds?”

Mliss raised an eyebrow with a smile, but when the man didn’t go on she looked up,” Yes- Yes I do.”

“Do you know what those clouds mean?”

Ohhhhh! That’s what it was!!! Condescension! That's his expression!

“It means there’s a kriff of a storm on the way,” Mliss supplied, taking in everything about this man.

Yes- an interesting character for all to hate.

“Yes,” The man continued,” So get your little behind inside before you get thrown off. The storm will start up at any second!! Half of the passengers are already seasick and these waves are NOTHING compared to what’s coming!!”

It seems he was getting increasingly frustrated with her, so Mliss patently put her pen behind her ear, dropping her notepad arm down by her side.

“I really hope so,” She said with a wide grin," Or else I would have come here for nothing!" Mliss had to suppress a smirk at the face of the man that was growing redder and redder. She had obviously pissed him off a tad- Oops. "I mean no disrespect- I'll get off the deck now."

That did not seem to appease his anger, but Mliss turned on her heel and headed in to watch the chaos unfold, she heard the muttered curses that others would say weren’t fit for her young ears.

Stepping inside the glass door, she turned to look out at the sky. The room she was in was built for spectating the good weather, the walls a royal blue, plush chairs were lining each side of the room. Many were occupied and, true to the deckhands words, some were looking rather pale.

To her happiness, there was a chair right by the window so she walked over and sat down before taking out her pen again and lightly chewing the end of it.

She would take careful note of all that happened here- her stories must have as much detail as possible.

A low rumbling started to sound, flashing light appearing in the clouds. Yes- the storm was about to begin.

So here Slip was, standing on the deck of a cruise ship, leaning over the railing, and hurling the contents of his breakfast out. Slip looked up. Why was he here if he was so dangerously seasick? Well, he had been convinced to get out, to go and see the galaxy, and perhaps take in some possibly illegal activities, at least, those were the words of Subject 73 Red Subject 73 Red . Next thing he knew, he was here on this ship, feeling horribly queasy. He saw some of the other ship-goers, some of them looking a lot like Slip, and others looking perfectly find. Lucky.

The shadow man stood by him, seemingly holding back his laughter at Slip's plights. Once again, Slip was the only person who could see or hear him. Slip still thought that the shadow man was a hallucination, but sometimes other people could see the shadow man from time to time, even interact with him briefly. SO Slip didn't know, but right now, he didn't care.

He saw a girl nearby, younger than him, holding a notepad, and looking positively cheery. What she was doing on this ship, Slip had no idea, but she didn't seem as affected by the rocking of the ship as much as Slip was. Slip then heard a deckhand call out to her, telling her that a storm was coming, and that she better go inside. Slip groaned audibly. Perfect, just perfect. Even more motion sickness was surely going to follow.

The girl went inside, but Slip stayed there, trying to calm his stomach. Then, a large wave came up and hit the ship, even coming up onto the deck. Slip stumbled, and got swept off his feet by the force of the wave and the water that came on deck. Slip slid across the deck, with the shadow man laughing behind him. "Gah!" Slip yelled in surprise. He slid past the window that the girl was sitting at, still yelling. "AHH! Son of a-!" He yelled out. The deckhands were shouting at him, trying to grab him and throw him inside before he went overboard.

Slip managed to grab the door, stopping his sliding. He managed to pull himself to his feet, and pulled himself inside the door before shutting it. Slip walked in, then fell on the floor, exhausted from the exhilarating ride. He was soaking wet. "I'm just gonna... I'm just gonna lay here for a minute." He said, still trying to catch his breath.

After this, he was going to have a strong hatred of cruise ships.

"Her entire existence terrifies me to no end"
Mliss watched to both her amusement and pity as a LARGE wave came and swept some poor green-haired man off his feet and dragged him around deck.

He slid past the nice little window she was sitting at, shouting some obscene phrase. From her cozy little seat, she saw the very deckhand she had made so mad try to grab the sliding man in an effort to make sure he wasn't thrown overboard.

Hm, The violent wave reached it's cold hands up to try to drag the man down to the inky depths of the sea. YES! Perfect! Adding that.

Mliss jotted down the exact experience this man was having- YES, this would be good. After a few minutes of watching this sad show, Mliss was glad to see the man grab the door before stumbling in and promptly collapse, muttering something about laying there for a minute.

Replacing her pen behind her ear, Mliss stood up and made her way to the man. Now that she was closer, she could see he was absolutely soaking and rather pale. Must be one of the ones who happened to be seasick. Why would he come to a planet known for their killer storms?

The man didn't really respond when she arrived, so she sat down about a meter away. All the other passengers were completely ignoring the soaked man.

Rude.

"Hey- Um, are you alright?"

Okay- a stupid question to say the least. But a place to start.

Slip lay on the floor, catching his breath, the water still soaking off of him, as he had been absolutely drenched in that water. The shadow man stood nearby, just having come into the room. The other people in the room ignored him, which was fine with Slip, he was fine with just laying face down on the floor with cold water seeping off of him, as long as he could relax.

Slip didn't notice the girl sit down near him, as he was concentrating on the storm outside. Then, she spoke up.

"Hey- Um, are you alright?"

Slip rolled over and looked at the speaker. It was the girl, sitting close by him. Now that he was close enough, he noticed that she was quite young. She seemed about around his age, if not younger, strangely enough. And this was probably the closest a girl had ever gotten to him, and was probably the first time a girl had asked him if he was alright, so Slip was a little stunned by this statement. He stared for a second, then snapped back to reality and nodded his head.

"Well, I guess. I mean... I'm still alive, I'm not injured, I still have all my limbs, and I'm not drowning underwater, so I guess I'm all good." Slip replied, sitting.

"You... You saw all that happened, didn't you?" He asked her, putting his head into his hands. He was incredibly embarrassed now. Great first impression, Slip.

He looked back up. "Err... right. Hi, I'm Slip. And you are? And if you don't mind me asking, why are you here on this ship? You seem about my age..." He told her.

"Her entire existence terrifies me to no end"
M’liss smiled at him kindly as he rolled over to his front and answered her question.
"Well, I guess. I mean... I'm still alive, I'm not injured, I still have all my limbs, and I'm not drowning underwater, so I guess I'm all good." He replied, sitting up.

Mliss gave a small laugh at that before he spoke again.
“You... You saw all that happened, didn't you?" He asked her, putting his head into his hands, he looked incredibly embarrassed.
“Yeah, I did... “ Mliss said apologetically. Then he looked up again- trying to drive the conversation away from his... escapade.

"Err... right. Hi, I'm Slip. And you are? And if you don't mind me asking, why are you here on this ship? You seem about my age..."

M’liss smiled at the question- why indeed was she here.

“Well my name is Mliss- I’m here to get inspiration. I’m an author. I wanted to write a story about a girl who crashes their ship, but I couldn’t empathize with her.” Mliss finished with a smile, her gaze had drifted off while she was speaking and she was in her minds eye.

Then she snapped back to reality and looked at Slip
,”Though your fall may have been embarrassing, I thank you for the inspiration. I’ve never experienced one like it”

She introduced herself as Mliss. Huh, that's a name Slip hadn't heard yet. Definitely an uncommon name. "Nice to meet you, Mliss. I haven't heard that name before. Where are you from?" He asked her.

I’m here to get inspiration. I’m an author. I wanted to write a story about a girl who crashes their ship, but I couldn’t empathize with her.”

"Inspiration? You're an author? Wow! Sounds interesting! I'm guessing you got to choose what you wanted to do, huh?" Slip asked her. "Yeah, I was physically created for a specific purpose. No, really! I was made in a lab, so I had the perfect genetic code for my purpose, and I was trained since Day 1 to be what I was made to be." Slip told her, now sounding depressed, but then he perked back up quickly. "Sounds like a cool story! But if you want to write a story about a crashed ship, why go on a trip to an island where there is a dangerous smuggling job?" Slip asked her. Her eyes glazed over, drifting off into the corners of her mind. Slip knew that feeling, so he let her be for a moment before she snapped back.

”Though your fall may have been embarrassing, I thank you for the inspiration. I’ve never experienced one like it”

"Um... You're welcome? I think?" He said, slightly baffled. "Wait, you wrote that down?! Ugh, great, just great." He groaned, putting his head back in his hands.

The shadow man laughed. "She did?! Oh man! This girl is great! I gotta get a copy of it from her!" He exclaimed. Of course, no one but Slip could see or hear the shadow man. Slip still wasn't sure if the shadow man was another one of his hallucinations, or something else entirely, but he was still annoying and wasn't making matters any better.

This was going to be an interesting trip.

"Um... You're welcome? I think?" He said, slightly baffled. "Wait, you wrote that down?! Ugh, great, just great."

Slip put his head in his hands again and Mliss couldn't help but pity him a bit, she gave a crooked smile, "But don't worry- I have much, MUCH more embarresting things written in here."

It was true- think of some of the most embarrassing things you've seen. All the times when someone randomly slipped and fell flat on their faces. People setting pranks and then getting pranked. Falling in a pile of dung. Yes- she had seen ALL of these things.

To further bring him out of his misery, she continued
, "Like, last week I was on Nar Shadda and went into the front bar,"

She laughed slightly in memory, "The bar tender got my drink but on the way over, he tripped on someone spilling the drink and going facefirst into the bar and flipping over it! It was a GREAT chapter in my story- that story was about a Spy."

Slip looked back up at her as she spoke to him again. "But won't people get mad whenever you write down their embarrassing moments?" Slip asked her.

She continued talk, and Slip listened intently. "Wait, you went into a bar? But aren't you like, aren't my age?" He asked her, but then he thought about it. "Then again, it is Nar Shaddaa, and they have way more relaxed laws. Continue." He said. She continued explaining the encounter. When she said that the bartender slipped and flipped over the bar, Slip gave a light laugh.

"Ouch! Poor guy... And you wrote that down? I'm guessing your stories are mostly based on humorous events." He told her, but then when she said that the story was about a spy, he raised an eyebrow. "So, wait, if you go places to get inspiration for your stories, does that mean that... You know, you went spying?" He asked her. It was a genuine question, but he seriously doubted it anyway.

"Any idea when we're reaching the island?" He asked her.

"But won't people get mad whenever you write down their embarrassing moments?" Slip asked her.

Mliss thought about it for a second, "Maybe- I don't usually tell them that I do. I just do." Now that she thought about it- she'd bet they WOULD be mad that she wrote it, "It's all fiction anyway- just based on real-life events."

He nodded then spoke again,
"Ouch! Poor guy... And you wrote that down? I'm guessing your stories are mostly based on humorous events. So, wait, if you go places to get inspiration for your stories, does that mean that... You know, you went spying?"

Mliss answered the first part first
,"Not really- stories just need different parts to make the reading easier. Most of them are more adventure, action stuff." She moved onto the next question with a laugh,"Well yeah- I don't think I could travel across the galaxy without knowing how to take care of myself. Being an author doesn't bring in much pay, so I have to do things on the side! Which also gives me inspiration!"

It was true- her whole life was a story, herself absorbing everything around her and turning it into a story.

"Any idea when we're reaching the island?"

That made Mliss smile even wider, laughing,"Well in clear weather, it would only take a few hours more! It takes a while because any other route has feirce whirlpools," She said rather longingly, not THAT was a story. Imagine it!

The young girl needed to get to her destination and quick- any other path would take FAR to long. But ut was whirlpool season, and she didn't know what she would find...

She was drawn back to the real world again,"So It might take quite a while with this storm bruiing."

She grinned happily, Hopefully, they wouldn't make it in a few hours. Hopefully, she would get the inspiration for her story after all.

Slip listened as she replied to him. She was... definitely eccentric. Honestly, she scared him a little bit, she seemed a little bit insane. Then again, Slip was a little bit insane, too, so he guessed that that balanced it out. Still, she was a little bit frightening, and the amount of utter excitement that radiated off the girl gave Slip a bit of a headache. She was a bit too much. So he guessed that explained why plenty of other people on the boat gave her disdain. Still, he couldn't but feel drawn to her positive and upbeat aura.

"Well yeah- I don't think I could travel across the galaxy without knowing how to take care of myself. Being an author doesn't bring in much pay, so I have to do things on the side! Which also gives me inspiration!"

Slip looked at her, wide-eyed. He scooted a little bit away from her, kind of frightened by her. Funny how a genetically-modified supersoldier was kind of afraid of a girl younger than him and who he could probably overpower. She still gave him a shiver down his spine.

The girl explained how they would be stuck on this ship for quite a while, because of the storm, and Slip audibly groaned. Great, just perfect. Now he was stuck on this deathtrap for quite a while longer.

"Well then, if we're stuck here for quite some time, what do you want to talk about?" He asked her.

(OOC= Okay- I loved that :) Thank you for it :)

"Well then, if we're stuck here for quite some time, what do you want to talk about?"

Mliss smiled widely, glad he wanted to talk. Not many people would stick in a conversation with her- she didn't mind though, but it was getting a bit old in her stories. A new change of pace! Always enjoyable.

For in every chapter, a new light should arise- That was what mom said anyways. Wow- she was a good electrician.

"Anything under the sun I'd be glad to talk about! Anything and everything!" She replied with a crooked grin.

Mliss had many, MANY experiences throughout the galaxy and knew most things about everything! She was just happy to chat with someone!
