There is also many vast graveyards of ships, from small snub fighters to capital ships, and debris that covers the planet and surrounding space.
GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION
  • Gravity: 1.25 Standard Gravity
  • Climate: Climate varies wildly, there are Arid locations, tropical and temperate locations, frozen wastes,
  • Primary Terrain: Primary terrain is Temperate Continental regions, however every class of biome is present on the planet, from abandoned cities, deserts, radioactive wastelands, to taigas, tundras, mountain ranges and more.
  • Atmosphere: Atmosphere varies from location, going from Type I in areas saturated in Light Side Energy, to Type IV in Dark Side Energy areas across the planet.
LOCATION INFORMATION
  • Capital City: None
  • Planetary Features: Varied - Primary biome for the planet is Continental world, however there are various deserts, wastelands, local paradise locations reminiscent of Gaiia class worlds, mountain ranges and vast oceans.
  • Major Locations:
    • Acolhuani's Heart: The location of a cult that has come to worship a Star Child on the planet. This cult has come into existence due to survivors having crashed onto the planet and being lead to this "safe place" by the Star Child. It was here that the Star Child began indoctrinating them into a cult style of worship, presenting itself as a prophet of a Force Deity, when in reality the Star Child was having them worship itself. This place has come to stay in existence due to the Star Child's natural affinity for Force Manipulation and Influence, allowing the Star Child to redirect possible threats elsewhere.
    • Ozymandias's Folly: This massive ruin of a city sits in the middle of a huge desert surrounding by rolling dunes and roving herds of nether creatures. This city is extremely ancient in technology and construction by galactic standards, but uses construction techniques found in pre-space travel technological civilizations (19th - 21st Centuries). This city is now entirely abandoned and a ruin of itself, and while there is plenty loot to be had in the city itself, there is an extremely high risk of running about there. The city is essentially overrun with nether demons with various herds of them roaming the streets, buildings, sewers and skies constantly searching for prey. In the center of the city in the rubble remains of a city block is a crashed section of star ship occupied by a mercenary contingent who have fought these things off and existed for the past 7 years non-stop. Overall the fighting has slowed to a crawl, with skirmishes happening here and there, but the danger has remained at an all time high as a single lapse in security or resolve could spell doom for the entire remaining garrison.
    • The Fool's Respite: This seeming paradise location offers the inviting looks and natural resources of another Light Side location on the planet, but to those sensitive of the force something will seem very wrong here. The taint of Dark Side is extremely faint here, and those not sensitive to the force will miss it entirely, but those sensitive to it might be able to detect it. However it will make itself quite known once any settlers or travelers seek to bed down or otherwise reduce their awareness of their surroundings. What happens when this occurs is the grass and flora itself will begin attacking and eventually attempting to devour entire groups of non-local sentients. And when this starts the local flora will not cease until either the prey has successfully fled or been devoured, wherein it will return to a state of rest and inviting new prey to once again make the same mistakes of the previous visitors.
    • The Great Desert: On this planet there is a massive desert spanning hundreds if not almost a thousand kilometers across. This is also where a huge mineral wealth resides on the planet, meaning that any mining operations on the planet would likely wish to be based here. However prospectors beware, as with the chances of a huge reward, come great risks as the deserts are also inhabited with massive beasts both of this planet and the Nether, and they are constantly on the prowl for any prey that might be inhabiting the various dunes, cliffs, and rocky formations of the desert wastes. The air here is also barely breathable, and external respirators are recommended for those travelling the area as prolonged exposure can lead to health problems.
    • The Valley of Death: This place is one of the most toxic and outright inhospitable on the planet. A massive ship graveyard, the very atmosphere here is toxic and highly irradiated being only naturally accommodating to the beasts and demons of the Nether. Here is a veritable goldmine for salvagers and ship breakers, but this place is also extremely dangerous as the local beasts and demons of the Nether will attempt to hunt down and devour any denizens who are not from there.
  • Force Nexus: Neutral
Intent: This Force Nexus is intended to provide an extreme challenge to those seeking adventure and riches. The nexus itself is the source of the resources of the planet, but also the source to how warped and uninhabitable/habitable the planet is. To create an outpost here is next to impossible due to the very rift itself responding to any life with challenges with very few safe zones. And even in the safer zones the environment is no longer the threat, but that won't stop the local fauna and visitors to the planet from trying to kill you.
    Nexus Name: The Thanatos Rift

  • Nexus Alignment: Other - The Nexus itself is extremely Chaotic, as it washes the planet in the energies of the Nether. This causes certain areas on the planet to gather more light side energies, while other areas on the planet are saturated with dark side energy. The rest of the planet however is constantly embroiled in a never ending battle caused by these energies and the overall chaos of the Nether causing most of the planet to be better defined by chaos.
  • Size: Planetary
  • Strength: Strong - Nexus causes rifts to appear both on the planet and in space, due to it essentially making the veil between the Nether and real space exceptionally weak. Also causes materials on the planet to reappear as it were, fueling a never ending war for survival, along with warping the environments causing radical changes in each biome present on the planet.
  • Accessibility: Technically it's very easy to find, travel to, and get into the Nexus. Doing so safely however is a completely different story. The nexus causes the veil between real space and the Nether to be exceptionally weak causing monsters from the Nether to tear holes into the Veil and roam not only the planet, but in space around the planet. This includes sentient ships filled with nether demons that live solely to raid and destroy visiting vessels.
  • Effects: The primary effect of the Nexus is that it will twist and warp local flora and fauna to align with the Nexus's alignment. This can cause places to be exceptionally good and hospitable in Light Side zones, to the most austere and hostile zones on the planet in Dark Side zones. A secondary effect of the Nexus is that resources will replenish as needed for those who need them, such medical supplies, ammunition, and other materials as needed, so long as the container that people are getting the materials from goes unobserved for a short period of time. Aside from this and the Nexus's gradual effects overtime on sentients (such as chemically or physiologically altering inhabitants to better survive) the Nexus provides a generally chaotic feeling to the planet and any force sensitives there. The Nexus also tends to respond to any outside sentients entering the zones with hostility, as in space Nether entities will be drawn to them to attempt to consume them, or on the planet even in Light Side zones some of the local fauna will attempt to do the same. To put it shortly, if you arrive in this zone expect to struggle and fight against horrors as such you've only seen in your worst nightmares, and while the Light Side zones will offer some respite, no place is truly safe on the world.

Rest of the population is either local fauna that have adapted to the Nexus, Nether entities, or flora.
  • Primary Languages: Galactic Basic, Huttese, Ancient Sith
  • Culture: The planet is entirely wild and untamed. Monsters roam the continents and seas and the major Force Nexus (along with several sub-locations) cause the veil between the Nether and reality to be especially weak here. Its inhabitants, both sapient and not, live in a constant state of war for survival.

MILITARY & TECHNOLOGY
  • Military: None
  • Technology: This place is a graveyard of ships from across time itself, with dead vessels, vehicles and other scavenging opportunities ranging from times of The Old Republic (25,000 BBY), to The Empire (1 BBY), to Post Imperial and even present day vessels that end up in Nether to be deposited here.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION

On the very edges of known space, a planet who's original name has been lost to time existed with a once thriving civilization coming to power. However the planet, who's origins pre-date The Old Republic and Ancient Sith, would experience a cataclysmic event wherein through unknown means a massive nexus in the Force would be opened above it. This force nexus was a veritable rift in real space that lead directly to the Nether, causing the various chaotic energies of the Nether to spill out and bath the planet in raw force energy. And being not entirely focused to either side, but rather a chaotic mix of the two sides of the Force, this would cause the civilization to tear itself apart in record time, as the original inhabitants of the planet were either corrupted and turned on each other, or various beasts of the Nether would roam across and hunt down any survivors. All that remains on the world is a shadow of a civilization that once lived, and the remains it left behind.

Fast forward thousands of years and the planet has become a veritable graveyard of various societies throughout the years, with the Rift in space causing massive wrecks to pulled into orbit from across time, creating massive ship graveyards both in orbit of the planet and on the surface. Sometimes these wrecks would be disabled vessels with survivors on board suffering from ship malfunctions, and the first test to these survivors was to endure the hardships of this great Rift. For those that managed to survive and escape, they would give the place a name befitting its nature, The Thanatos Rift. Pirates and smugglers of all walks of life would tell stories, of massive beasts that defied reality and devoured many spacers whole, to vast wastes and material wealth that would make many a man rich for several lifetimes. Many have tried to strike it rich on the world, none however have succeeded and lived to tell the tale. From various monsters that roam space surrounding the planet, to gigantic beasts on the surface that would drive people to insanity, just surviving on this world alone is a tall order. To date there have only been two known settlements that have lived on the surface of the world post cataclysm which are considerably recent developments, The Cult of Alcouhuani and an unknown mercenary outfit that have launched an expedition to the world and have since become stranded.

The cult is a small group of sentients living in one of many "safe zones" on the planet where the Light Side is mostly present which wards off many of the more serious dangers. This cult is directed by a being known as a "Star Child", whom have gathered a small group of survivors and has formed a mostly religious organization to worshiping the Star Child itself. In return the Star Child uses its connection and power over the force to ward off many of the dangers of the planet, thereby keeping the members of the cult safe. What started as a merely consensual exchange of protection for thanks and devotion has turned to a religious zealotry, as the inhabitants were slowly corrupted by the presence of the Star Child into outright worship of the being. There is now no room for questioning the decisions of their prophet or the god it claims to speak on behalf of, and these sentients are fanatic in their beliefs.

The second major inhabitants of the planet are a group of mercenaries who originally came to the planet looking for something. However their ship was ambushed in orbit by the beings of the Rift, and after a pitched battle in the space above the planet, the ship was eventually crippled and forced to crash land onto the planet. A majority of the survivors of this company are holed up in one of the jettisoned compartments that landed in an abandoned city where they have had to fight to survive for the past seven years non-stop against the beings of the world. What remains of these mercs is changed, or what some might call altered, beings as the Nexus has made physiological changes on them overtime at the cellular level. For seven years they have fought and had their wills tested by the planet, and for seven years they have held the line. These changes include that these people do not get physically tired anymore from exertion, their bodies now heal much faster though this does not make them more resilient against most mortally fatal wounds, instead just reducing the recovery time necessary. Overall these men and women have known nothing but battle for the past seven years which has hardened them into an extremely effective fighting force. They have mastered their environment and have started sending out small expeditionary teams to locate and visit the crash site of the ship they originally came in on, but so far nothing has come from it.

Under Review The Monster The Monster

Thanks for your patience. Cool concept overall! I very much like the major locations. I also like the refilling of containers when people aren't looking, video game logic given an in-universe explanation. There are a few things we need to clear up before approval.

  • Image Credit: Unfortunately, per the Codex rules, you can't just provide credit links next to individual images. All image credit links must be listed in this section at the top of the submission.

  • Demonym: Whether there are a lot of people here or not (and the almost 30,000 sentients you mention later isn't exactly tiny), we still need to know what adjective we'd use to describe something from this planet, be it a rock or a Star Child cultist. Strana Mechtian? Strana Mechtite? Pick something that works for you.

  • Region: Per the template, we need a recognized region of the galaxy. Probably Outer Rim or Wild Space.

  • Location: Per the template, where is this planet on the galaxy map, in relation to other planets? Even if you're not planning on having it added to the map, I need to know its hex location.

  • Primary Languages: If there are almost 30,000 people on this planet, they're speaking to each other somehow. I'd list either Galactic Basic or a common trade language like Bocce or Huttese.

  • Affiliation: Please provide a link to the Ascendancy's faction page.

If you have any questions or need any help, please feel free to let me know.

The Monster The Monster

We have made some progress! However, there are still a few things to tackle.

  • Location: Again, describing a region of space is not sufficient for this section. The template says "This can be a screenshot of the hex from the map with a marker, or you can say that it is located "in X planet's hex" and give a general description of positioning." Please either show me with an image where on the galaxy map this planet is, or describe it to me. For example, "In the hex northwest of Weik", or "in the same hex as Ios, east of Ios".
