Strange New World [Jared]

She stood between two droids who were stoic at her side; they held blaster pistols, although Evie didn't understand why they would need them. It was not as though she had anywhere she could run to. Her icy gaze was wide and lingered on everything in the room that there was to see. In front of her was a bed, and behind her the blast door which hadn't opened in hours. The droids hadn't bothered to talk to her, and she wasn't really one to talk to inanimate objects, so the room had been silent since she had been placed in there.

Evie had just taken up the tray of food which had been left there a while ago - she hadn't wanted to eat, she didn't trust this place, but she was extremely hungry. Being as young as she was, her willpower wasn't the best. Pattering over to the bed she took a seat on the edge and set the tray down at her side, shaking her head. She supposed this beat being out on the streets, or on that cramped ship, but she didn't really understand what she was doing here.

Taking up a fork she moved the food about on her plate, before lifting it up and sniffing it... There didn't seem to be anything wrong with it, but she doubted that they would make it obvious had it been tampered with. "Do you know what time it is?" she asked the droids, it was hard to judge whether or not it was time for bed when up in space. They didn't bother her with a response, they barely moved, which left her feeling frustrated. With a small growl she ran a hand up through her hair and pushed the tray aside, crawling up onto the bed properly. "You're being very rude" she decided, crossing her arms.

@Kära Vi'dreya

I wasn’t a big fan of kids.

Might be overstating that, it ain’t that I don’t like ‘em, it’s that… they bring memories back that I’d rather not deal with. Books long since closed and all that crap, ya know? But then Ardik walks up to me one day, tells me about this girl. She got potential, the man shared with him.

Well. I ain’t the man to ignore potential when it was staring in my face, figurally speaking ‘course. So I asked him to take me to her, see what’s what and all. Figured it couldn’t hurt to see what Ardik was babbling on about now.

Turns out it was a kid, estimate she was like… I don’t know eight years old?

Felt funny looking at her, she had potential alright. Girl’s got the Force presence of… well, ain’t comparable really. Just needs training, s’all.

Ardik didn’t seem all that comfortable with her, he always was more of a droid person than anything else. So I took ‘er off his hands, promised him a few favors instead and all that.

Now I was standing in front of her… bedroom, I am guessing. Wonder what Anaya would make out of this child. Wonder if it would change anything.

Then I knocked and entered the room.

Noticed she was saying something to the girl, didn’t catch what though. Weird that she would talk with a couple of machines with no personality cores, but who knows what she had been through.

Mhmm. Have you eaten?

The droids didn't say anything, yet what they did do was shift slightly - further to their respective sides of the room. That made her frown, and moments later the blast door was flung open. He was stood there, the man who had brought her here, and instinctively she backed up on the bed.

The foot-board of the bed was hiding the food on the tray, so when he asked her the question she glanced down at the tray and bit her lip. Did she speak the truth or lie to him? Evie hadn't really spoken to the man yet, did she really want to risk starting off on bad footing?

For a moment she said nothing, she simply stared at the man - really it was more akin to a glare - and bit her lip in thought. Then she slowly shook her head, it wasn't worth it. "No." After a second she hurriedly added "I... I mean, I haven't eaten..." She had been raised with manners, after all. She ran a hand back up through her hair and looked down from him. "I don't feel hungry."

Okay, so that had been a lie... She was ravenous, she couldn't really recall the last time she had eaten, at least properly. But he didn't know that.
