Streamers & YouTubers [Need Help]

Sorry for tagging you two lovely ladies, but you're the only other streamers/YouTubers I know on the site. PM probably would have sufficed, but then I am targeting my questions to the entire community, so maybe if you two could chime in with what you know, that would be fantastic.

So, Chaos. I'm looking for help with Twitch TV/YouTube in general. Back in May, my free month for camtasia ran out and, to be frank, I wasn't happy with the videos I was making back then. But I've decided to give it another ago. My only problems are:

- I don't know how to set up Twitch TV.
- I don't have any recording software.

If someone could link me to some free recording software, that would be fantastic. I could also do with some help with Twitch TV. Preferably, if someone had the time, I would appreciate it if you could guide me through the process of setting up Twitch/finding the software via a Skype call. I'm kind of dyslexic with this stuff and normally give up after five minutes due to the frustration, otherwise I end up in a bad mood. I know, I'm retarded.

Thanks community. @ me when you reply.

[member="Vazela"] your best bet would to find a free older version of camtasia as you are familiar with it, and if I'm correct it has an option to stream straight to twitch. Thats the only advice I have for this. If you owned a ps4 I know that can stream straight to YouTube and twitch.

Guys, no cracked program talk, please.

FRAPS is old school. LOL. Obs is free and widely used by streamers on twitch. Twitch also has an info page on how to set up obs, it has all the url and other stuff there. I can't post mine because it will be completely different from yours. Anyways happy streaming ^_^. OH if you're streaming from console you need a capture card

I use OBS these days, it's not too bad but the quality is better for streaming than it is for making videos on the regular. I haven't uploaded anything in a while, but I'd still recommend it.

And what Justine said concerning setting up Twitch :) There are guides for setting up OBS in the most efficient manner, too.

Good luck.

[member="Vazela"] - I wont argue with you about the retardation. :p (*straight-faced* "that is a joke")

You don't "record" gameplay, you stream it; this is why it is called streaming. You don't need any software that records, as you will be streaming most if not all of the content live. There's a really modular and completely free bit of software that you can use to accomplish this called OBS. You can click the link to find the download. An in-depth tutorial on how to use that can be found on YouTube--there are plenty, so you can choose for yourself which you are most comfortable with. However, if you just want to stream raw content without any overlays, donation widgets or any functions that don't exist purely in the game and on-screen, the instructions should be simple and you'll end up with a long url-like code.

The next part is pretty easy. Go on Twitch.tv, make an account, then go through your settings to where you would set up a stream, and you will eventually reach the point where you are supposed to paste that on Twitch. That links the feed from your computer with your Twitch account. From that point on, it really should be as simple as an on-off thing when you want to stream.

ALTERNATIVE ONE: Most, though not all, mid and high end graphics cards come with the inherent ability to stream directly from the card to Twitch or any other stream hosting service without having to do anything but put in your account. I know this is true for pretty much any R9 series AMD processor (which is what I have), so if you have one of those, you are definitely in luck, otherwise check your graphics card specs.

ALTERNATIVE TWO: Xbox One can stream raw as well as record clips, no third party stuff required. :3
I don't know how/why it works but I'm going to assume it works exactly like my R9 does; straight from the processor.

YouTubing will follow a similar principle software-wise, and again, a lot of graphics cards support raw streaming and capturing, so definitely check that if you want to skip a lot of the work. Now if you want to get REALLY complex, like something you would see on a sponsored or professional gamer's stream... well, that isn't going to fit neatly and comprehensibly into one post, and I'll have to walk you through every little detail as it would be tailored around exactly what you want to do to it. You'll be installing a few things and making a few things work with each other.

You know my Skype. I know you hate me and my voice would probably melt your ears and destroy your pride in unbearable agony... but I am willing to help you, so send me a tell whenever you want to get started on the more complex stuff or if you get stuck at any point.
