- Heavy Weapons - The heavy frigate carries fairly heavy weaponry, armed primarily with heavy and light turbolasers the Strident also boasts a high number of missile launchers and 3 forward mounted torpedo tubes. Even alone the ship is able to pack quite a punch against any would be targets.
- Protected Bridge - Unlike other Imperial vessels the Strident lacks the distinctive tower-like bridge. Instead the bridge rests low on the ship's hull using an assortment of cameras and screens instead of the traditional viewport which is replaced by reinforced durasteel doors, which do open in the event the cameras are disabled.
- Blindspot - Like many Imperial ships there is a blindspot at the rear of the ship at its Ion Engines. Protected by only a few light turbolasers and point defence cannons one could exploit the almost iconic weakness of the ship, damaging the engines wouldn't be hard if left unprotected, crippling the Strident.
- Ion Signature - Like many ships using Ion engines, a distinctive Ion signature is let off when in use. This allows anyone to pick up the Ion trail and able to easily identify the size of the frigate based on how large of a signature it lets off. This prevents the ship from partaking in particularly stealthy operations unless its Ion engines are deactivated.
With the addition of Okins Industries to the Risen Imperial Engineering Corps many of their concepts that had been on hold were able to be pushed forward due to the superior man power of the Engineering corps. Once such ship is the Strident-class Heavy Frigate, a ship initially designed to act as an independant patrol ship, prepared to take on any vessel it comes across as well as a ship easily able to slot into any fleet doctrine. Armed with an impressive complement of heavy turbolasers, missile launchers and torpedo tubes the vessel is designed to pack a punch and take some heavy hits. It's well protected bridge allows it to continuously operate even if other crucial parts of the ship are disabled, ensuring it's never out of the fight until completely destroyed.
