The Strider-class Bulk Freighter is designed with one idea in mind, the mass movement of cargo to different trade ports. The ship boasts a cargo hold with a capacity of 100,000 metric tons, and the armoring to protect it against all but major capital ships. The matrix veneer layer that is applied to the normal duranium plates allows the Strider to survive hits most normal freighters wouldn't, but that is about all the ship can boast.
The Strider has no offensive or defensive weaponry installed, and no hanger to allow starfighter support. The ship is also incredibly slow and cumbersome, meaning that Striders must always be accompanied by some sort of escort craft or fall prey to pirates or enemy raiders.
