Stuck Like Taffy

Mykes Taff sat in a room that was looking out to the mountain ranges nearby, through a wall-sized window. Stretching across the length of the room. In a comfortable seat, his prosthetic limb crossed over the other leg. In his hands was his creation, his lightsaber. This was their home, where it was peaceful. No war came here, no conflict...so why could he not ease his mind?

With an uneasy sigh, he thought to his family he had here. Mykes with his husband [member="Tom Taff"], and their daughter [member="Calithea Taff"]. The Taff family. They were always on his mind. For once in what seemed like hours, he smiled. Till the feeling of uneasiness seeped it's way back into the depths of his mind. What was the cause of all this? There was one possibility.

Although Mykes knew there was peace here, he watched the holonet a lot. Talks of war and conflicts always put him off. And then, there was the kidnapping of his husband some time ago...he shivered at that. It was not a comforting thought...

Tom was up making a drink and some dinner for the three of them when he felt through the force mykes unease at his thoughts again. He gave the cooking over to a chef droid and Genesis. After all she was basically family with them. Tom generally didn't carry his lightsabres in the house and instead had them sitting up on a shelf so they were within reach but not easy to see.

He went to his partners side sitting with and cuddling up. "Something wrong Mykes? You know I can feel your emotions through our bond dear. I know you are still worried about what happened to me with the whole vampire thing but I am still me love. Also got to ask where has that daughter of ours gotten to I haven't seen her in a bit, then again I have been busy with the SJO and all." He said feeling a bit guilty he had been in and out for so long.

Calithea skid down the slick hallways in her silly socks with a big grin on her face. She had been in her room, mostly working on a variety of relatively poorly drawn drawings and books about teen romance. Calithea chose not to worry about the worries of the galaxy, or what had happened to her dads.

It was better to be happy, and draw, and play, and... Well, Thea just decided it'd be better to ignore the worst parts of life. Maybe it wasn't the best approach but. Oh well. She used her hands to finally grab onto the end of the hallway as she saw [member="Tom Taff"] & Mykes Taff sitting on a couch, a beautiful view of the mountains.

"Dads!" She squealed, as she ran up and jumped straight onto them. "What are you guys doingggg," she said with a big grin as she rolled onto her back, still ontop of them.

Mykes Taff appeared to have been slightly startled. Even though he could sense [member="Tom Taff"]'s growing worry towards him, the guilt. He managed a smile, however as his partner cuddled up to him. He put an arm over him, his other hand setting the weapon down before resting upon his metal knee. "I'm not...worried...that much" he murmured, glancing away with a rather neutral look now. Sometimes he forgot just how strong the bond really was. Still he had no idea how to cut it, and he had a feeling Tom did. "Yes it was frightful, but we got b-"

Mykes sat up right when he heard the familiar voice of their daughter. He always made sure that he wasn't cuddling up to close, as he never wished to give the wrong idea to his daughter. Although, he was a bit late to move away as she jumped upon them. That earned a chuckle from him. "There's our Kowakian monkey, swinging around and jumping on people. We are just talking about...adult things."

Tom could read mykes body language and could tell mykes would trying to put on a brave face for him and everything else. He was going to say something about it after mykes was finishing his thought but instead they were attacked by their daughter. Before their daughter came through he could feel mykes pulling away. Tom very quickly composed himself the way he did in front of the Jedi he worked with. Putting a smile on his face looking down at their daughter.

"Just talking, what about you silly one?" He would ask smiling down at the girl but deep in his mind thinking on his many doubts. He wished his father was still here. He could really use the help against Rowin who had apparently survived their last encounter. Who had been slowly turning him without noticing which was why he was trying to drive himself as much as he could into the light. But he wasn't sure how much longer any of this would take.

Calithea grinned as she sprawled out over her parents’ laps. Life had been rough before them but that was so far in the past – it was almost like it didn’t exist. “I’m not a monkey! Well… Sometimes I wish I had their little tails. They're soooo cute. Well, not the Kowakian's... But the other ones,” she confessed with a playful grin as she snuggled against [member="Mykes Taff"] and [member="Tom Taff"]. “Adult things aren’t fun thoughhhh,” she said in a dramatic exasperation.

She nuzzled onto Tom’s side. “Just missing you, dad,” she admitted honestly as she finally calmed down a little bit. “What are you guys up to? We should do something!" As a child always could, she sensed the tension and worry from both of her parents. She didn't really understand - or really want. She didn't want to believe there could be any risk, anything that would impact all of their relationships.

Mykes laughed as she went across them, seemed they weren't going anywhere too soon. "You are too a monkey" Mykes joked, poking her forehead with a finger while still laughing a bit. Before turning to [member="Tom Taff"], he felt the feeling of doubt. It caused his smile to falter, only for a second. "I know adult things aren't fun...why do you think we decided to adopt you? We needed a bit of fun" he said to [member="Calithea Taff"], with the smile returning to him.

"Yes, we could indeed do something." He moved his gaze upon his husband, suggesting he give an idea on it. Smirking a bit, even, as if to show that he did not plan to give an idea of his own. "Do you have an idea of what we may do?"

Tom would smile at their daughter. "Mykes is right you are so a monkey. And your not wrong many of them are cute. Perhaps we should do something soon where you befriend one to be your friend. Your also right there adult things are no fun." Especially not this one Tom thought to himself privately. "I know I am gone too much out in the galaxy trying to make it a better place for all of us. I should be home more. Oh so that's why you agreed to adopt her. I thought it was because you always wanted a daughter." Tom would say with a bit of cheek.

He would see mykes face and the smirk. "Well not that it matters but I can see you have an idea mykes. I certainly hope its not turning me into a playground of some description." Tom would say. "In any case I am happy with whatever you guys would like to do." He would say a smile on his face but deep down he was still thinking about how to keep himself here for his family.

Calithea feigned a dramatic sigh as [member="Tom Taff"] confirmed [member="Mykes Taff"]'s comment on her being a monkey. At the notion of getting a pet monkey, though, her entire opinion of the situation changed. "I would be the best monkey friend everrr." She exclaimed as she rolled onto her side, still atop of them. And Cali couldnt help but beam at the mention of being fun.

She gave a silly grin to Tom, though, and his comment. "I know you are... Just miss you," she said more seriously, more quietly. He was out and about and well, Cali missed him. That was just what it was. There was nothing to change that.

Calithea laughed at the notion of Mykes turning Tom into a playground. He wouldn't dare! But they could go to a playground, she supposed. Although, she felt as though they wouldn't have nearly as much fun as she would. "What's your idea?" She asked her dad inquisitively, green eyes wide with excitement.

Mykes Taff brushed a hand over his chin, as if in deep thought as his husband commented on their daughter definitely being a monkey. But really in his mind, he was highly amused...while also trying not to laugh aloud at the situation. Then Tom said something about getting her a monkey. "Um, dear...you know how much trouble they can cause right? If you are suggesting we get one" he murmured in a hushed voice, trying to hold his attention to his look to show how unsure he was on that.

"A playground? Why would I ever do that?" Though he did snicker at that. "No, not a playground. There is that Taffy place they made, remember?" Mykes asked to his husband, smiling lightly.

Tom would smile. "I am sure you would and love you know there is a force power called animal friendship for this exact reason. She could stand to learn it even a little bit it has never not been useful to me for the various times it has gifted me animal companions or even the owl and cat that still float around this house and the town. They are in themselves docile but they are also partly like me for normal animal affinity and part animal friendship skills." He would say looking at his fingers which needed another cleaning again he could still see what the vampires did to him.

"And I miss you too but soon you will have to make a choice of your own as to what path you decide to follow. The galaxy needs more good people in it but we would also be understanding if you wished to pursue darker arts just as long as you don't become like your grandfather did." He would say thinking back to his adoptive father [member="Rex Taff"] perhaps he should visit the crypt again while he was here. Maybe later as he listened to mykes question him.

"Hey now I don't know what kind of ideas you might have love. I never know. Of course I remember Taff's Taffy. Melon Mykes is still my favourite. Although Cola Calithea was an interesting and good choice as well. I don't think they have made one yet that I don't like. Maybe I should take over one day and run it myself but that doesn't have the same charm does it?" he would say thinking "Let's get some anyways shall we?"
