Studious Class Construction Droid

Intent: To create a construction droid which can work in almost any environment. This little guy can work alone or in groups to build anything mechanical. It is non-combat, so though it could in a pinch fight with a welder or grip arm it is a poor combatant.

Description:
As part of a deal with the First Order, Archangel agreed to construct droids which could help build orbital shipyards. However, Archangel did not need to leave it there, and decided to increase the unit’s versatility and range by allowing it to operate in almost all environments and perform many roles.
The Studious itself is a long, semi-rectangular unit with manoeuvring jets, a large collection of arms and tools at the front and an interior storage capacity. Working together several of these units can lift large weights or weld, cut and secure metal in place. These tools can be tailored for the job but usually includes two large gripping arms and an array of welders, drills, saws and riveting devices.
Able to be programmed with detailed plans, the droid can work well within its allocated parameters. The droid will ceaselessly perform its tasks until the job is completed or it is ordered to stop. Using its repulsorlifts the droid can move swiftly and manoeuvre whether in air, vaccum or water.
The Studious is not a combat droid and can be easily destroyed by a regular combatant if they get a few shots in. If pressed it can defend itself with its tools but the short range and improvised nature of these weapons renders them largely ineffective.
The droid is controlled by a master access code which designates who is the owner and who can therefore give orders to it. Whoever has said access code can designate any number of other people as subordinates. This master access code is protected by advanced 512 bit encryption which would take several centuries for a regular cipher machine to break. However, if the code was stolen or mislaid obviously the droid could be misused. The key is that just like a real key the code is only as safe as the operator who uses it.
Overall the droid is a good construction unit but is not suited for combat or for tasks requiring independent thought. It is diligent, studious even, when given precise instructions and all the materials it needs.

- Non-Combat. The Studious is a construction, not a combat droid. Its makeshift weapons can be reasonably lethal against unprotected organics, but it has no combat programming to speak of.
- Thin Armour. Being not designed for combat the Studious is equipped with plating designed to resist heat and radiation, not blasters. Even a regular blaster will be able to quickly disable one of these units.
- Small Picture. The Studious is a good builder if it has the plans and materials, but it cannot improvise or rationalise the project. It must therefore be kept under close organic direction.
