The archives were home to a large assortment of holovids, files and pretty much anything a young or old Jedi would need to research a topic. Cloistered in an alcove sat Anneliese, working hard at her studies. The young red-haired girl sat hunched over, holding both hands to her head, holobooks and paper sprawled out onto the large oak table, stress evident on her whole body. Scribbling another note down, her writing utensil came to her mouth as she groaned outwardly. Doing... paperwork, book learning was not something she looked forward too, but it wasn't something she couldn't necessarily do -- she just rather be hands on, more involved, smacking the living tar outta somebody, or running free outside.

Getting back up, her chair sliding out from under her Anneliese made her way back over towards the keeper of the Archives, yet again asking for another holobook. Walking quickly over to the section and to the large data-shelf, Anneliese typed in the reference number and the droid quickly retrieved the tablet. Coming back to her table she sat back down, muttering to herself as she made more scribbles, now setting the tablet down -- her hands making motions in the air, almost as if doing a 'kata', when in reality she was reviewing the material she'd just read. Continuing in her studies she leaned in, oblivious to how she might be perceived to those around her -- Anneliese definitely had a penchant for marching to the beat of her own drum

Quiet, nice, cool.....

The archives definitely had its own aura, and it was nothing short of spectacular. That was at least to the Jedi Padawan, a second home to him and might've been first home if there was a place to sleep in here. During his younger years he was in here almost every day and twice on one of those days. He spent more time reading than he did anything else. he was surprised he hadn't gone through this entire library already at this point. But that just showed you the vastness of the Archives there was so much in here.

Aiden however had chosen something of going over certain techniques, so he could be better equipped to shield his mind from the darkside as well as anything that would attempt to harm his mind. He was sitting across a red headed girl and as he glanced up upon circumstance she was moving her hands in the air. At first glance to Aiden, given his many times in here. Everyone had their own way of going about their studies, to help them or to further visually see what they were studying.

The Padawan didn't want to disrupt her, but he couldnt help himself.

"Credit for your thoughts?" Aiden said at a good audio level as to not disrupt the entire room.

Realization dawning upon her as Aiden spoke up, asking what essentially what is was that she was doing, she was mortified at herself. Embarrassment overtaking her as she slowly squared her body up and made contact with him, a half smile forming onto her face as she chuckled slightly, her hand rubbing the back of her head. “Credit for my thoughts? — well I clearly thought I was alone doing my whole little routine — my bad.” Ashla — just kill me now Anneliese thought inwardly to herself, hoping that the young man in front of her didn’t think her too odd. “I’m studying my lightsaber forms — I find that whenever I read something this technical, I have too… make it into something hands on so that I’m able to remember it. I must admit, you startled me — normally no one wants to sit next to me… especially whenever I get into my little bubble.” She sighed slightly, no point in being gun shy now — he’d already caught a glimpse, might as well get the whole picture. “ I’m Anneliese, what’s your name?” Her smile was soft, sincere and contagious — her hand coming up to move the unruly tufts of hair that had fallen into her face and then extending outwards across the table to shake his hand if it was offered.

“Credit for my thoughts? — well I clearly thought I was alone doing my whole little routine — my bad.”

Aiden raised his hand to wave off her apology. "It's not problem I was merely teasing. I used to spend a lot of my time in here when I was younger. It's easy to get lost in the books."

“ I’m Anneliese, what’s your name?”

"That's usually the best way to learn. Figure out how things work for you and then keep at it." The padawan giggled slightly and then cleared his throat as the librarian looked his way and gave him small stern look. "Sorry." Aiden mouthed before looking back to Anneliese Kaohal Anneliese Kaohal

"It's nice to meet you Anneliese. My name is Aiden Porte, Jedi Padawan." The Jedi Padawan extended his hand towards her. "What forms are you studying the most right now?"

Anneliese threw Aiden another polite smile as he inquired about the forms she was studying. "Well -- I'm already fimiiliar with Makashi and Shien / Djem So. I was freshining up on Ataru and Soresu -- I'm hoping sometime this year or soon into the next I'll be going through the trials for my Knighthood and so a large part of my time here lately has been even more so been about self-study." Looking over, after hearing yet another 'shush' from the Librarian, Anneliese waved her hand back towards her, almost as if motioning for her to be quiet -- it was a library yes, but its not like they were over here throwing a Rave. Peering over at his books, moving strands of hair that fell in an unruly manner, she smiled at him, speaking up yet again. "How about you, what are you studying Aiden?"

"That's very impressive. I'm sure you will exceed the trials with no problem." Aiden spoke with a smile and he had to hide a chuckle as the Librarian glanced Anneliese Kaohal Anneliese Kaohal way. He placed a hand over his mouth for a few seconds as if he was going to deafen a laugh if another followed. He cleared his throat before speaking again. "I'm primarily focused on Soresu right now and will move on to Ataru when it is appropriate."

"How about you, what are you studying Aiden?"

"I'm studying some meditation techniques to help shield my mind against the darkside. And well any sort of invasion from anyone who attempts to hurt me." Aiden said with a small smile. "I have been having some trouble, which is why I'm back here in the archives." The Padawan spoke, he hoped his rather optimistic or hearty attitude wasn't making things weird. When you spoke of the darkside, you typically don't laugh and smile about it.

That was more his hopeful side, that he got from his father. Hope was a powerful tool against the darkness.

Anneliese listened to Aiden as he spoke on what he’d come to the archives in search of — and never one to turn down someone in trouble, she spoke softly. “I’m not sure I know of anything in the archive, regarding technique’s but — I might have a trick that’ll help you?” Looking over her shoulder towards the librarian, and back at Aiden, she spoke again. “ You know when they taught us to meditate as younglings? Our mind can work a lot like a house, or a building. It’s your mind space — focus on your mind as a place with many rooms. Build doors, locks, deadbolts. But focusing on layering them.” She gave a light chuckle. “At least that’s what I do when I practice with my Master during mental intensive sessions. It helps me get a good mental picture of what I need to do to block out mental influences.”

Aiden noted her glance back to the Librarian and he chuckled quietly again, just the situation in itself seem to humor the Padawan very much. He was incredibly glad that he opted to stay in the Archives today. Upon getting what he needed he had half a mind to return to his room. It was a good thing he didn't, he would've missed out on this.

"I remember these....." Aiden said with a smile as he thought back to his younger days, and even more so with his Master. The lesson he learned that day in the gardens, almost an invisible light. The darkness would be right next to you, and still would not see you. It was quite the technique she had showed him, and even to this day he hadn't mastered it yet.

"Layering the walls, over and over again. That's impressive Anneliese, thank you very much. I'll work on that technique over the next few weeks." Aiden said with a big smile as he held up his hand to her for a high five. He hoped that once their palms made contact the Librarian wouldn't kick them out.

Anneliese gave Aiden a small and reassuring smile as she noticed his hand come up. Bringing her hand to his, she softly gave a high five as she then reached across her table for another holopad and began to jot down a few notes -- clearly having a lost thought brought back up, and going to jot it quickly down before it escaped once again from her mind.

Looking up at Aiden as she finished, she spoke softly, almost in a whisper. "I never did ask you, but Aiden, how long have you been here? I know there are still people even I haven't met in our group -- but I was curious. What's your story?" She paused before she spoke and then continued. "Who's your Master? Friends?"

It was nice meeting other Jedi Padawans, meeting new people. He thought to Brandyn, Briana and those he hadn't seen in a long time. He hoped they were doing well. Everyone like him seemed to be dealing with their own demons and such. Dealing with family drama and trying to keep their heads afloat.

He thought on her question for a few moments as his eyes glanced up as if trying to access a particular part of his brain. "I've been here over eight years, off and on." His gaze finally landing back in her direction, as he flipped a few more pages in his book, scanning some text quickly before continuing. "I've had some troubles, or well my family has had some troubles that caused me to leave here for a few months at a time." He knew that however was a story for a different time. "My master is Solenne Abraxas Solenne Abraxas , she's absolutely amazing. The best instructor and one of my closest friends I've probably ever had." He took another quick glance with the current page he was on still not finding the further information he was looking for.

"My parents are Kahne Porte Kahne Porte and Alexandra Porte Alexandra Porte , I also have a twin sister Addison Porte Addison Porte . Addison is a Jedi Knight and she's an pretty awesome pilot, something I am far from." Aiden mused and he couldn't help but giggle slightly. "Both my parents are Jedi, so it's good to have them there. We travalled quite a bit from place to place. We were on Kashyyyk with the Silver Jedi Order at one time, Tanaab, essentially everywhere else you could think of."

Aiden took a deep breath and showed a small smile as he flipped a page again. "It's been a pretty crazy adventure so far. What about you?" Aiden said as he leaned in, curious about his new comrade and friend.

“Wow, eight years? That’s awesome, I bet you’ve made a lot of friends in that time. Also, it’s cool you know where you come from… that you’ve got that support.” Whenever he brought up the Sliver Rest, her eyes perked up… had he been there when she was at one point?

The questioning now being directed back to from him to her, she spoke. “Oh! My turn now I guess.” Leaning back slightly in her seat, her hands came up and began to fidget with her hair, braiding locks of hair together into an intricate weave. “Well, I was left on the door step of the Sliver Rest. Grew up on Kashyyyk my whole life. I’ll spare you the details but I ended up being transferred here in hopes I would have a new start. My, first Master, he died in battle shortly after I became appointed to him during a battle — when the Sith invaded Tython and took control, it was a couple years ago now, and I’ve made my peace with it.” She was silent for a moment.

Inhaling softly and exhaling she continued. “Valery Noble is my Master now, it’s been… amazing… and I have grown, so much. She can be hard, grumpy at times — but she brings out the best in me and believes in me. I couldn’t ask for a better friend and Master.” Casting a soft smile towards Aiden, she giggled softly. “As far as my family? Story for another time — long story short? I am my family, I am the last of my clan.”

“Wow, eight years? That’s awesome, I bet you’ve made a lot of friends in that time. Also, it’s cool you know where you come from… that you’ve got that support.”

Aiden chuckled and shrugged his shoulders slightly. "Not as many as you would think. A lot of my time was spent here in the archives ready and learning as much as I could. It wasn't until I turned around thirteen that I started to branch out and do more stuff."

Aiden closed his book as she spoke. listening attentively to her story. And his curiously boiled over when she said she was on silvers rest. He wondered if she was there during the time that he was. It was crazy how things worked out, it had been several years since he was on Silvers rest, but it is a possibility that he could have bumped into her during his time there.

"I'm sorry to hear that. I'm sure he's very proud of where you are right now." Aiden said with a small comforting smile. He couldn't imagine what it would be like if he lost Solenne Abraxas Solenne Abraxas

The Padawan without thinking about it, lightly touched the jewel that hung around his neck, a gift from her.

A light, for when all others went out....

He could hear those words echoing in his mind, as he cleared his throat and heard the mention of Valery Noble and Aiden nodded with a big smile.

"I know Valer- I mean Master Noble, she's really great. I've only spoken with her a few times but I hear she is a awesome." His words were only confirmed by Anne's own as she spoke of Valery being a great master and friend.

“As far as my family? Story for another time — long story short? I am my family, I am the last of my clan.”

"I see, well if it helps any. You have gained another friend today. Friends are far too few these days." Aiden tended to hold his friends in high regard, he had a good sense and judge of character. He thought of Brandyn, Briana , Luric and several others. And the knew one's he was making this time around.

"Do you wanna go grab something from the cafeteria by chance?" Aiden inquired, he was getting pretty hungry and well, he couldn't ever say no to the cookies that were always available in there.

As Aiden offered the hand of friendship to Anneliese, she simply gave him a soft smile as she nodded. "Deal -- but I thought we already were friends." This was the truth -- Annie, in all her years never thought anyone wasn't a friend to her, but rather -- it was finding those special, through thick and thin friends, and the longer she was at the NJO, the more of those she found and knew she could rely on.

Once again, nodding in agreement she leaned back in her chair at the mention of food -- it had been a good minute since meal-time in the morning and the prospect of food sounded good. "Alright -- I'll bite, yeah -- lets go get some lunch. I'm starving."

As they gathered their books up and tidied up the area they had been in, they would begin walking down the corridors to the Mess Halls -- it was quiet, but every so often they would make small talk until they managed to make their way to the cafeteria. "I'm getting the fresh fish -- and soup -- what about you Aiden?... and no, cookies do not count as a food group, that's called dessert." A giggle escaping her mouth as she looked at him.

"Deal -- but I thought we already were friends."

"Yes, of course we are." Aiden said with a small giggle as he followed suit like her making sure the area was tidied up before leaving. His stomach was growling much more than usual as they made their way towards the Dining hall. The walk was quite enjoyable as was the small talk that was made between the two. It was definitely a good feeling to be back here and to be amongst his fellow Jedi again. They were stronger together after all.

"I'm getting the fresh fish -- and soup -- what about you Aiden?... and no, cookies do not count as a food group, that's called dessert."

"I'm going to get the soup as well as the ground chicken. And the cookies, if you eat enough of them it could count as a food group. It could replace your entire meal." The Padawan said with a laugh and teasing tone while glancing her way, as he was notoriously known for eating a very large handful of cookies at a time. He was sure Solenne would probably disapprove of his eating habits which probably had reached her ears by now. However nothing was said to him so he could only assume she was okay with it.

Luckily there wasn't too big of a line so they were able to get through and get their food in pretty good time. Next was to choose a spot to sit.

"So, you have any new or important missions coming up?" The Padawan inquired.

Any new missions?

Annie thought intently for a moment as they moved through the foodline, gathering the objects that she wanted. "I'm not sure Aiden. It's been a minute since my last mission with Val, which, mind you, I've had some down-time here lately."

As she thought harder, and as they came to a table for the two to sit at she spoke up once more. "If I had to guess, I'd say most likely I'll be meeting with her and her newest Padawan. I'm not sure what her name is, but Master spoke briefly on the subject and said I would have someone I would get along with and be training with."

Narrowing her eyes a bit as she looked at the pile of cookies on Aiden's plate, her voice coming out as a slight hiss. "Too many is bad for you Aiden -- your going to give yourself a bellyache if your not careful."

"I'm not sure Aiden. It's been a minute since my last mission with Val, which, mind you, I've had some down-time here lately."

"Down time is always nice to have. Leaves room for other activities and adventuring." The Padawan smirked and giggled slightly as he glanced towards her. "Unless you are like me and tend to spend more time in the archives here lately." Aiden shook his head as he moved up the line, choosing his preferences of food and of course. Piling the cookies on the side, usually a good average for his daily intake.

"If I had to guess, I'd say most likely I'll be meeting with her and her newest Padawan. I'm not sure what her name is, but Master spoke briefly on the subject and said I would have someone I would get along with and be training with."

Val is an incredibly busy person Aiden had noted. Being the grandmaster of course that was obvious, she really gave her all for her Padawans and for the Jedi Order. It was pretty inspirational at how she managed things. "That sounds like it should be good fun." The idea of having another padawan along with various missions and such. It would be a good building exercise and further increase the bonds between Jedi.

"That would be the ultimate camaraderie builder if you ask me." The Padawan voiced as they found a seat. "And don't worry, I probably won't eat all of these. I think....." Aiden laughed as he pointed towards the cookies. "Maybe...."

"Possibly...."

Anneliese inwardly grimaced towards herself. When she had downtime, espcially as of lately, it seemed like nothing but trouble seemed to find its way to her doorstep. By Ashla -- her eyes rolled towards the back of her heads, Val was going to have her hands full with her -- she was for sure she'd be the reason for a few gray hairs in Val's head.

Reaching across the table and swiping one of the cookies on Aidens plate, a infectious giggle escaped her lips as she took a playful bite from the treat. "Sharing is caring you know... or so I've been told -- and I still say that many cookies is bad for you. Extra laps on the training field for you sir... need to work off all those sweets."

Sighing softly as she nibbled at the cookie she stared up towards the ceiling as she spoke her thoughts aloud at Aiden.

"Its strange... you know? Here we are eating our food, going about our day -- and soon, not sure when, but I've overheard the Master's talking about the invasion that will take place soon on Tython." She paused as she set the cookie down and looked towards him. "I've been there once you know... Tython that is... its were I lost my first Master. I can't help but feel like, its fate -- fate that I go back and face the demons I left there. Does that make sense... or am I just rambling?"

"So I've been told...." Aiden said with a small smile when she talking about sharing. "That's almost my second home, is on the training field. I'm pretty sure I can outrun you, we should put that to the test at some point. "Perhaps even invite Roman Vossari Roman Vossari so he can make sure neither of us cheats." The Padawan said with a small laugh. Aiden didn't want to admit it, but he was glad he came back here when he did. He had met some very interesting and friendly people. He was incredibly proud to call them friends.

Aiden took a small drink from his beverage as she looked at him and he listened attentively.

"It does seem strange sometimes. It's peaceful, calm and then soon we head off into the storm." Aiden set the beverage down and glanced at his food for a few brief moments. "I'm not going to deny, I am feeling a bit anxious over the whole things. It could be a small feeling of fear as well...." Aiden took a small bit of the cookie, then set it back down as she spoke of her Master, the one that she lost.

"I am sorry Anneliese...." He reached out and patted her hand in a comforting way. "It could be fate, the only thing is that you won't have to face them alone, your friends are with you to the end." Aiden thought to his own troubles and inner demons, he too for the longest time was worried about involving anyone else with his troubles. After Esme had passed, he didn't want to ask anyone for help. The Padawan then realized that they couldn't get through these events alone. As stubborn as he was, everyone needed help.

"I too have my own demons and dark spirits to face. It's not rambling at all, its good to know that we have each other to rely on. When things get to be to heavy or too dark. We can rely on each others light to help pull us from the shores that are the darkside."
