Stygium 2.0

I have learned from my mistakes and decided that it is better to make the old threads Non-Canon for all's sake while I negotiate a new thread with the Mandalorian faction leaders at a later date.

The plan might vary slightly or significantly from the original, but the key difference is that nothing will be withheld from them before opening the thread. I've come to realize that it takes two to tango, and a Skirmish thread is no different. The slicer topic furthers this idea that communication is key. Enemies in the thread. Friends outside of it.

For anyone who was interested in the last thread and let down, I am sorry. This is my opportunity to make it up to you.

Who is in?

Not poking fun, just legitimately thought this was both hilarious and fitting to the situation

This time, despite my ever-present fear that by human nature someone will metagame something, whatever plan we come up with is going to be fully discussed to the Mandalorians first. However, in turn we'll get a fighting chance, so it's not a terrible trade-off.

We can do it the fast and loud way, or we can do it the careful and quiet way. It's your call, guys.

Fast/Loud
This is the easier of the two.

We simply go in with a warship or two, smash another ship or a station, collect stygium, leave ASAFP. This might involve some man to man combat so it is not advised if you can't fight to save a life or are not the soldier type.

Careful/Quiet
This is the harder of the two.

We'll have to be picky about our plan again. We can go in on either a civilian freighter such as the Esfandia Runner or another privateer ship such as the Ulur'uur. Once our choice in vessel has been decided, we'll gather up whatever SW canon and Chaos canon slicing tech we can round up and plan a thorough hacking operation. For fairness sake, this'll have to be negotiated with the Mandalorians to find a middle ground.

The end results are probably either misdirecting another ship or simply hacking a freighter, station or facility to sneak in and sneak out with the stygium.

There's also one other alternative but it's not as fun or interesting; we simply buy the stygium from Larraq and help to complete the required development thread.

EDIT!!! :: There is a fourth option! The only issue is that I'm kind of reluctant because I have no idea how things may go both IC and OOC. Instead of the Mandalorians, we hit the Protectorate.

I'd like to try the careful/quiet route personally, mostly because I haven't been able to pull that off here yet. The one quiet thing I tried, ended up turning into fast/loud very quickly. It seems very tricky for all the players to hold off from going nuclear on each other. We're going to need some very nuanced RPers for that.

I don't have a preference for who we hit (Mando or Protectorate). What would be the benefits vs. drawbacks of hitting one or the other?

Also why did the original thread get tagged "non-canon"? Just curious.

Mandalorians
[Pros]
  • Easy to find
  • No one will object to a raid
[Cons]
  • They will go over 9,000 on us
  • We'll make potential enemies of them
  • Our one good plan is now moot

Protectorate
[Pros]
  • Will not be immediately swarmed by everyone and their grandma's lapdog
  • Will not potentially make enemies of the Mandalorians
  • Can do it with or without the Red Raven name
[Cons]
  • They expect us to find out they have stygium
  • Then then expect us to find where they have it
  • And then they expect us to pinpoint its exact location.
  • Lots of work for little gain

Because I didn't have the patience to deal with any of the BS or drama caused by either side anymore. Better to start with a clean slate.

Regarding Larraq, unless you got a tongue of gold and / or a great bussom complete with full lips, I don't suggest negotiating with him unless you want to end up losing your money. Bloody guy has a law firm IC on his side now to make sure he takes as much money from your pockets for as little tradeoff as possible. Could also be my personal grudge against him in regards to finances speaking, so keep that in mind.

There's also a third route you could try and take, if you wish to play the waiting game for quite a while, and that is to wait for the Mandalorians to enter another state of open conflict with another faction, probably the Sith, and raid a few of their stockpiles while their busy either fending off an invasion, or attempting one themselves.

I'm calling off the negotiation for Aeten II; we'll be hard-pressed to find enough Stygium, we'll make enemies of Mandalore and... I'm not going to state the third reason but it's publicly visible and should be fairly obvious without.

I'll do some research about the OP's holdings and we can talk to them about it later.

The same strategy options apply. They just apply to the OP, not the Mandalorians.
