- Combat Function:
- Sabotage & Demolition: As professional deep space roughnecks, the Cometeers are fully proficient in a wide array of demolition, destruction, and other unorthodox methods of breaking things. This is put to its full effect in combat operations, with the Cometeers being assigned to disabling, destroying, or otherwise neutralizing equipment in deep space. That, of course, also means they know how to repair and salvage equipment too.
- Deep Space Ops: The Cometeers really only operate in zero-gravity and space environments. They lack the equipment and training for extended planetside campaigns but are excellent at direct combat actions in space.
- Prepare to repel boarders!: The Cometeers are primarily meant for boarding and counter-boarding, incredibly messy close-up engagements.
- Force Abilities (Force User Units Only): N/A
- Roughneck Brawlers: the cometeers are no strangers to danger, violence, or working in awful conditions. They're used to living hard, dangerous lives mining the gas giant Suarbi, prospecting asteroids, tearing apart old ships, or chasing comets (hence their name) to harvest the melted-off materials before they leave the star system. They live hard lives and are hard sentients who fight dirty and hard and don't stop until they win.
- Mr. Fix-It & Mr. Break-It: As miners, salvagers, and prospectors, they are highly experienced in breaking things apart and putting things together, often with only the basic supplies that may be easy to grab.
- Militia: Unlike the more professional mobile infantry corps, the Cometeers are volunteers with the basics of combat training, but primarily rely on their experiences and life skillsWhile tough, resilient, and stubborn, they lack the sophisticated tactical training and military discipline. Individuals are more likely to break and regroup when compared to their professional counterparts.
- Old campaigners, what?: As a volunteer militia unit, the Cometeers do not have the logistics or training for extended missions, let alone entire campaigns. Being primarily self-equipped outside of weapons and armor, extended time in the field will leave them low on supplies.
With the establishment of the Rimward Trade League and following the initial raid against Tantra and Denab, even the most isolated people within the Suarbi system realized that another war was brewing, this time on their doorstep, and judging by the initial engagements, it would be deeply involved in space. With a primarily industrial deep space economy, quite a few of the sentients who worked the far portions of the system volunteered to form a militia brigade, underwent basic military training with the Suarbi Defense Command, were equipped with the standardized set of weapons and armor, but left to their own devices to devise their own advanced tactics and strategies in ways that best employ their independence, ruggedness, and adaptability.
While still relatively untested, they are eager to prove themselves and show the galaxy that they may be a bunch of comet-chasing, rock-blasting, scrap-hauling gundarks, but they have the fighting spirit to make it count.
