Intent: To create an effective combat analysis system.
Development Thread: N/A
Manufacturer: Kiribian Systems Armory
Model: N/A
Affiliation: Private Market
Modularity: Yes, software can be modified.
Production: Limited Production
Material: Memristor, Software
Special Features: N/A
Strengths:
+During the course of battle, a Subutai equipped vessel can develop increasingly effective countermeasures against known hostiles as it adapts in real time.
+Significantly reduces the kill-chain from initial orders to attack as systems can be automated, allowing commanders to respond more quickly to threats as they can focus more on overall strategy.
Weaknesses:
-Limited to capital ships, space-stations, fortresses, and their equivalents. Vessels must receive modifications or be purpose built to use Subutai.
-Inferior in performance to sentient AI dedicated for combat.
-Subutai faces severely degraded performance in offline mode when cut off from data centers and can cause other processes to degrade as processing power is diverted.
Description:
Subutai is a cloud-based tactical analysis system meant as a lightweight cloud-based alternative to the battle analysis computer (BAC). Much like a classic BAC, Subutai compiles data from across several nodes of a battlenet - from capital ships to individual soldiers in the field - in real time to analyze for the production of usable comprehensive combat intelligence and recommendations to commanders. However, much of this analysis is offloaded to data centers consisting of memristor-based neural networks. This frees up on board computers to continue to be used to manage local systems like maintenance.
Aside from basic analysis, Subutai can be linked with offensive and defensive systems to boost their performance as a force multiplier. For instance, with capital guns, it could automatically focus fire at the weakpoints of opposing vessels and select a firing sequence of a particular combination of weapons to maximize effect whilst also streamlining the kill chain. In another example, missiles can be directed to take randomized evasive maneuvers to stress opposing point defense systems in order to create openings for successive missile strikes. Defensively, the firing solutions of point defense systems can be improved as their underlying algorithms are modified to respond to evolving threats, increasing their efficiency.
While processing isn’t a concern for users, there is still the issue of bandwidth. So, for this reason, the deployment of Subutai is limited to capital ships, space stations, and land bases/mobile fortresses which can handle transmitting such massive data streams necessary for operation. To ensure an uninterrupted connection to data centers, each Subtai kit comes equipped with its own biocomm. Subutai is designed to work hand in hand with Hydra (information distribution and coordination), and Mithril (security) for optimal performance.
