Suggestion: Dominion Titles

Hey,

I don't mean to overstep my boundaries as the new guy, but I have an idea. Now, I think that we need to change things up here, in terms of aesthetics. We are the First Order, one of the Galaxies most powerful military organisations. So, what I propose is we make the names of our dominions, invasions and skirmishes reflect this.

An example of this would be calling our recent engagement in our new dominion, Operation Necromancer.

Or in the event of an invasion, Operation Rising Storm.

Maybe I'm right, maybe I've read too many Tom Clancy books, but I think it'd be a sweet idea, no?

Nonetheless, I added a strawpoll so a democratic vote could take place.

The site dominion and invasion rules require that the words Dominion or Invasion be included in the title along with the name of the planet.

Outside of that - it's certainly possible to add what you've suggested.

In my experience, using the Operation: Adjective Noun nomenclature usually goes about two iterations before we wind up with something like "Operation: Anal Fury," but I suppose even that is better than some not-even-close-to-funny rehash of "Lions and Tigers and Bears...Oh My." That thread title always makes me want to kill myself.

To modify the concept further, it could be cool to drop the Operation part altogether, and just label the threads as their codename. Easy Tiger, Opal Ocelot, Chewy Reindeer.

Then, like, have the first two letters of the overall mission goal be the first two letters in the random designation: "ExtraTerrestial," "Onderon Occupation," "Clandestine Rebellion."

Honestly, I actually like your original idea. I think it would be cool if we came up with some LARPy operation titles for our dominions and such. So long as we don't get goofy with it.

In my experience it's when things start to get really tongue-in-cheek is when they start to get cringey.

They don't even have to be really inventive. Look at some operation titles in the past. "Case Blue". Pretty simple really, but cool.
