The beaches of Glee Anselm were usually quiet. Usually.

The Diarchy had been a quiet, but looming presence off in the distance of the Alliance. When Jonyna had received an invitation to meet with Laphisto, the jedi master offered an alternative.

Laphisto was a mandalorian, a culture that, for all things considered, Jonyna was pretty intimately familiar with how to handle at this point. As such, Jonyna offered him a spar. A test of power that only a mandalorian could respect.

So there she stood, waiting for the commander to arrive.

Jonyna was not one to come unarmed, and didn't expect anything less than the best from the mandalorian.

High Commander of the Lilaste Order
Laphisto arrived at the meeting ground where Master Jonyna Si Jonyna Si had summoned him, his tail flicking idly as he strode across the coarse sand. He was, admittedly, surprised when the Jedi Master had proposed a duel as a test of merit—but the boldness of the gesture had earned his respect.

As he approached, Laphisto stopped five meters from her, bringing a closed fist to his chest with a firm thud before offering a respectful bow "Master Jedi," he greeted.

He had come largely alone, save for Commander Tarian -his Force-dead right hand- and five members of his High Guard. Though he hardly required the escort, their presence was symbolic. The leader of the guards had made it clear he wouldn't miss this 'show' even if he were stripped of arms and legs."I thank you for your swift reply to my request, for a meeting. It is in the name of the Diarchy that I extend this olive branch to the Galactic Alliance. I am ready to proceed when you are."

With that, Laphisto reached to his side, unholstering the LO-22S and handing it to Tarian, who accepted it silently and stepped back. Then, with a fluid motion, Laphisto drew the Broad Saber from his waist, igniting the blade with a low hum. A taloned finger adjusted the emitter settings, shifting it to a non-lethal frequency, not unlike that of a practice saber.

Taking a measured breath, Laphisto stepped forward, planting his right leg firmly behind of his left. The Broad Saber angled downward diagonally, the tip aimed slightly toward the ground while the hilt remained close to his torso, much like a modified Shii-Cho opening stance. His grip was steady but relaxed, the weapon held in both hands, poised to rise into offense or sweep into defense with equal ease.

His posture mirrored a blend of traditional and adapted techniques the basic power of Shii-Cho layered with the patience of a seasoned warrior who had long since made the form his own. His tail remained low, steady behind him as his hetrochromatic eyes remained fixed on the Jedi Master, ready for her move. and with a flash of teal he pushed the force into his gaze using his force sight to better see the Jedi master

The Lilaste Order troops stood nearby, vigilant not out of mistrust for the Jedi Master, but in defiance of Laphisto's own orders. Against his better judgment, they had insisted on accompanying him, citing both their desire to witness their Commander's duel firsthand and the belief that the head of the Order couldn't simply wander the galaxy unguarded.

Jonyna, for her own part, had come alone. This wasn't a show of the Alliance's might, but of the jedi's. She could show the might of the Alliance another time.

She drew her saber Lucy, taking a standard Shii-Cho stance herself, her stance to the right as per usual. She needed not set her saber, as her mother's crystal seemed to set itself to a stun setting, waiting for from the dragon to move.

In her time in the Order, it was one of the first lessons she had mastered. Wait, and strike when opportune...

High Commander of the Lilaste Order
Laphisto held his stance, eyes sharp and predatory as they traced the Jedi before him. His lone ear twitched, registering the familiar posture of her Shii-Cho guard. Shifting his weight subtly onto his leading leg, he surged forward.

His Broad Saber swept upward in a swift diagonal arc, cutting low toward her knee and dragging up toward her shoulder—an attack crafted to exploit the gap on her exposed left flank. Without hesitation, Laphisto sidestepped to his right, slipping deeper into her vulnerable angle hopin to force her to pivot or reposition to keep him within her guard.

His movements were decisive, aiming to disrupt her footing and seize momentum before the duel could settle into rhythm. The instant he saw her begin to adjust, his tail lashed out, riding the force of his sidestep to strike at her legs—an unexpected sweep meant to unbalance her and further press the advantage.

Jonyna's response was blindingly fast. With the drop of a hand, she drew Sally, her cortosis lined blade and sliced at the edge of his broadsaber, using his low slash as an in to allow her to push forward.

She had on several occasions used this to trip up sith lords, and it hadn't failed her yet. The two swords just below her stance, ready to strike.

She immediately followed up with a horizontal slash from her saber, right at his neck. Even if her disabling strike missed, he had overly extended, and with her sudden snip to the left, it was as if her feet floated above the sand without touching it...

High Commander of the Lilaste Order
Laphisto felt the telltale stutter of energy as the cortosis-lined blade kissed the edge of his Broad Saber. The weapon flickered violently before snuffing out with a faint crackle of distorted plasma. He didn't so much as flinch.

As the follow-up slash cut horizontally toward him in an attempt to carve across his neck, Laphisto shifted smoothly into action. His left gauntlet rose with brutal efficiency, intercepting the saber mid-swing.grabbing the blade as Sparks hissed along the beskar-infused plating as the stun energy met solid metal, muted further by the quiet thrum of the Force flowing through him. Tutaminis coursed from palm to forearm, drinking in the heat and light.

Without breaking stride, his right hand guided the deactivated Broad Saber's emitter upward, angling it beneath the oncoming blade. The pronged fork of the hilt bit into the katana's edge, Laphisto caught the blade in the fork, wedging it between the crossguard and the face of his raised gauntlet. The trap snapped shut with practiced precision, cutting into the flow of her movement and locking the weapons together, steel on steel.

Laphisto pressed forward, the bind giving him all the opening he needed. He drove his head forward, horned crown lowered just slightly, in an attempt to deliver a sharp, brutal headbutt. His movements were predatory. The dull echo of shifting sand beneath his feet carried the weight of his push as his tail coiled low behind him, ready to lash out with the full momentum of his advancing frame.

The catching of her katana was smart. Clearly this mandalorian had experience, but she had wit. As soon as she felt her saber bite into his beskar, she deactivcated it, and allowed her katana to be twisted, her feet erupting with flame as she rocketed herself into a sideways cartwheel, allowing the headbutt to fly past her, and hitting him with a heavy pele kick as she handstanded to the back of Laphisto's head, then rolled with the movement, all the while letting go, ever so briefly, of her sword.

She rolled back to her feet, drawing her sword back with a bit of telekinesis, then taking a sudden shift of stance, taking a strange, modified Ataru stance. It wouldn't be one Laphisto had ever seen, as it was entirely invented by Jonyna.

Kuli Nyna, the way of the Ziio.

High Commander of the Lilaste Order
As his head cut through empty air, Laphisto's ear flicked upright, catching the subtle ripple of her Force signature veering hard to his left. His eyes snapped to track it, muscles already shifting as he dropped low, claws carving grooves into the soft sand beneath him. His tail coiled upward like a serpent, intercepting the strike mid-air with a solid impact. The heavy beat of his left wing followed, angling behind him to absorb the rest of the blow with a muted thud, dust scattering in the wind.

Without missing a beat, Laphisto stepped through, pivoting into the momentum as her kick sailed past. Sand kicked up in his wake as he advanced, tail flicking behind him with measured control, ready to lash out again at a moment's notice. His Broad Saber snapped back to life, its blue blade hissing to full length, the light catching faintly on the grains swirling around them. He eased into his stance once more, but this time the posture shifted.

Weight settled onto his back leg, claws digging into the sand as his hips dropped lower, tail curling close to the ground behind him like a loaded spring. His saber remained angled downward at his side, blade pointed behind him in a guard reminiscent of a Tail Guard, yet tempered by the grounded discipline of Djem So. It was a stance of patience and violence braided together—ready to snap upward with crushing force the moment his opponent left the earth.

His breathing slowed as his stance became the anvil, waiting for the hammer. He knew the type—fighters who danced, moved fast, and sought to cut down larger opponents through misdirection and speed. He would give her ground only to seize it back in one decisive blow.

As they both took new stances, Jonyna studied her opponent. The cathar had always been perceptive one, it's what had kept her alive more than anything during her days as a rebel.

His eyes seemed to flick around, following her silhouette, rather than her weapons. She did wonder...

Hidden by her thick coat, and shrouded by the wooden panels, her tail slipped from behind her and grasped her Cryo Blaster, before opening fire at Laphisto's legs.

Could he see pure cold? A Technological weapon, rather than a weapon of the Force?

High Commander of the Lilaste Order
Laphisto's ear twitched at the faint rustle beneath her coat—the sharp shift of fabric paired with a mechanical click that did not belong to any form of saberplay. His eye narrowed, tracking the subtle dissonance within her Force signature—motion low, deliberate, coiled beneath the cloak. A tail. Unexpected. For the briefest moment, it caught him off guard.Yet instinct reclaimed him.

Without shifting his footing, Laphisto's hand snapped outward, pulling fiercely at the sand between them. A veiled wall surged upward, thick and fast, just as the hidden blaster discharged. The cryo blast struck the airborne grit, flash-freezing it on contact, turning sand to brittle crystal mid-air. The veil splintered, shards cascading down in a brittle storm.

Laphisto's expression remained steady, though his gaze sharpened. She had shifted the duel's tempo with cunning—an unexpected ploy, one that earned a flicker of respect for her resourcefulness. He had intended to test blades, but this was now a battle of adaptation. His claws raked the frozen sand at his feet, scattering sharp fragments into the air. Without hesitation, his saber hand extended, releasing a Force-driven pulse to hurl the shards toward her—a storm of ice-laced shrapnel, aimed to break her focus and force her into motion.

In the same breath, his left wing unfurled with a sharp, cutting beat. The force of it smashed the lingering sand and frost forward, expanding the veil into a dense dust cloud that cloaked the battlefield between them. Amid the rising haze, Laphisto's frame surged forward, driving low through the storm. In an attempt to press the advantage while her focus remained fractured, he launched into a short lunge, claws digging for traction as he powered into a leaping strike.

His Broad Saber arced down from above in a two-handed overhead blow, aimed to crash through her defenses and force her to absorb its full weight—or break position entirely. His tail followed behind him, coiled and ready, prepared to snap out if she slipped the strike or attempted to reposition.

That proved it. He could see her tail, not through sensors, but through the Force.

All it meant was that her coat was pointless. A good defense, but not enough to hide her movements.

She needed to be smarter. This was a battle of attrition.

A sudden, violent updraft twirled in front of her, sending the sand and ice into the air in front of her, as Jonyna prepped for what came next. Rather than defend, Jonyna's knees erupted with flame, sending her flying back, allowing her to dodge the overhead strike, before she sliced at the air with Sally, unleashing a sonic wave through the air at her opponent. He was fast, but he wasn't faster than sound.

The Roar of Cathar was upon him, as the sonic attack sounded like a lion's roar.

High Commander of the Lilaste Order
The moment his claws met the ground and he saw her leap away, Laphisto surged forward, driving his blade in a sharp thrust. His tail lashed behind him, kicking a veil of sand high toward her position, as he attempted to force her onto the defensive.

When her katana sliced through the air at a distance, his instincts questioned the intent—too far for steel to strike.first came the sound. Then the impact.

The sonic wave smashed into his chest like a hammer, staggering him back as his claws carved deep trails in the sand. A sharp grunt escaped him as he snapped his wing forward to brace against the blast, channeling the Force through his frame, fortifying bone and muscle with Valor to absorb the worst of the shockwave.

As the force of the blast ebbed, Laphisto retaliated. His saber slashed through the sand, superheating it into molten glass. With a swift push of the Force, he then hurled the shards forward in a chaotic spray toward Jonyna.

Slash. Push. Advance.

Each stride closed the gap, every strike aimed to corner her beneath a rain of jagged shards as he attempted to grind her back step by step.

All the while, Laphisto’s lone ear flicked, catching the faintest sound of her movement, while his Force sight locked onto the subtle shifts in her aura. He read the tension in her poised frame, ready for the moment she would pivot or counter. The gap between them shrank by the heartbeat.

The sudden thrust was deflected by Lucy, her ruby blade using it's tip to push the stabbing blade to the right, as Jonyna watched with a careful eye. He wanted to keep her on the backfoot, but every slash was skillfully deflected, while Jonyna once more sheathed Sally in a blinding speed, before testing a theory.

The sudden spray of glass did little to stop her. tiny shards were caught by her fur, before she spun them away in a gust of wind, drawing Liz, the blade letting out a massive flash of light out as it was drawn, before Jonyna spun and sliced at the air once more, letting out another sonic blast from the blade.

This wasn't a battle of power. Jonyna had plenty of that. She was faster, surely. This was a matter of experience. Of creativity.

High Commander of the Lilaste Order
Laphisto continued his advance slashing sand and hurling chunks of raw glass towards the cathar some globs reaching the size of a marble others being smaller. When she switched weapons he perked his lone ear softly. He registered the force blinding as nothing more than a ripple of force energy. But considering the effects of her last blade and it's sonic capabilities he wasn't about to take a chance and get caught off guard a second time. He saw the pattern drawing and slashing in the air before they were close enough to make contact.

The moment he saw her slash at the air he pushed forwards sending out a massive force blast which collided firmly against the sonic wave as the two powers of energy crashed into each other sending out a small shock wave against the sand .

He was anything if not adaptable. Spreading his wings he used a small force jump to throw himself forwards as well as a flap of his wings to carry him the distance, reaching out and attempting to grab the girl with the force, using force grip to take hold of her coat to try and keep her locked in place while swinging his blade, slashing low on his right and making a diagonal cut upwards to her left shoulder.

Wings parted slightly prepared to snap open and stop his horizontal movement at a moments notice to help him defend against another strike that may be aimed in his direction if she didn't back pedal once again

The force blast was clever, but she figured the flash was going to blind him. Interesting...

More sand and glass, and yet Jonyna didn't seem to react. It was as if to heat had no effect on her,

Then he grabbed her coat. The item that kept her closest to home, and was her most immediate sense of fashion. That caused her to snarl, as he sliced at her shoulder, she instead let out a massive, telekinetic roar, pushing him back not just with pure force, but with the violent decibels of a starfighter engine.

High Commander of the Lilaste Order
Laphisto heard the snarl and chuckled under his breath anger? From a Jedi? Unbecoming for one of her standing.

As the roar tore into his ear, he snarled in turn, wings snapping open to break his momentum and help him regain footing. His tail slammed into the sand behind him, anchoring him and keeping him from being fully driven back.

Gritting his teeth, he endured the ear-splitting sound, the pain dulled by the Force Valor coursing through him. Towering over her, he knew he needed to stop her infernal roaring to force her to break her attack

Without hesitation, he did the first thing that came to him. His throat swelled before unleashing a jet of flame, spewing a broad cone of fire directly at the Cathar Jedi. His left hand tightened its grip on her coat, yanking hard in an attempt to pull her into the flames or at the very least, drag her within the punishing reach of his five-foot Broad Saber.

The flame did...absolutely nothing. It was as if Jonyna was entirely immune to it. Her near perfect mastery of pyrokinesis allowed her the benefit, making her entirely fireproof.

As such, she popped her claws, digging into the sand and holding her ground.

Still, she could only roar for so long. Instead, once more she drew her blaster with her tail, switching it to ion mode and firing five bolts ahead of her. With his broadsaber, they should be harder to deflect. As well, she employed a lesser used ability...

The sand under Laphisto suddenly shifted, as a geyser of water spat out from under him.

High Commander of the Lilaste Order
Laphisto was surprised to see her unaffected by the flames, though it mattered little. He drove forward, jabbing his blade toward her chest, only to catch the sharp mechanical click of her blaster once more. Coupled with the sudden pressure building beneath his feet, he shifted tactics.

The beskar of his armor would handle the ion boltshe could weather it. What mattered was seizing control.

Driving his left hand down, he forced the sand beneath him to compress under sheer Force pressure, hardening it into dense sandstone. He shaped it intentionally, creating a narrow mouth aimed toward her to redirect the geyser back in her direction.

His saber hand shot outward at the same moment, forcing the terrain around her feet and flank to collapse inward. The sand twisted and compacted violently, rising up in a jagged semi-dome, boxing her into a tight space with nowhere easy to run. Then, Laphisto steadied himself.

He drew deeply on the Force, drawing on both the dark side of the force and the light side, the two energies contacting violently within his body though after some time seemed to calm and harmonize. Crackles of faint electricity flickered along the edges of his claws and up the seams of his armor, raw and biting. At the same time, calm gusts of wind spiraled outward around him, brushing across the sand and swirling the dust at his feet in steady circles.

The chaos and the calm circled him as one. With a sharp exhale, he threw his hand forward. The gathered storm inside him surged outward in a single, devastating Force Blast. It ripped through the air like a battering ram of wind and lightning, crashing directly into the confined space he had shaped around her. What felt like a matter of minutes was in reality only a few seconds. The actions solid and fluid. He hoped to use her own attack to distract and discombobulate her while building the trap to keep her from jumping away and then unleashing the duel sided force blast

For a moment, Jonyna had a bit of deja vu.

And in that moment, she had an idea. Stealing an idea from her old rival Vulpesen Vulpesen , the moment Laphisto was distracted, the ground under her suddenly opened, and Jonyna was gone.

For a moment, the dome formed around Laphisto, but Jonyna was missing, her aura hidden as she felt like she was everywhere at once. The ground itself becoming her aura.

Then a massive wave hit the beach, a tidal wave crashing across the sands.

High Commander of the Lilaste Order
Laphisto perked his lone ear up as the force blast went forwards shattering the sandstone and finding no living target. The sound was similar to a loud crack as it went flying through the air almost like a thunderstorms warning before the flash of lightning.

He stood ready for a counter attack from the Jedi master though eyes shifting around and looking for her force signature a neat trick in the grasp of things though she had pushed herself into one fatal flaw, he had already shown he was capable of turning sand to sandstone and with a presumption that she was merely under the sand he reached out with the force throwing his telekinetic power against the individual grains of sand. Compressing the sand downwards of six meters and out in a ten meter diameter, if she was hiding under the sand in her own little bubble of air she would find it suddenly turned to sand stone.

Almost immediately after his head snapped to the water as it came crashing at the beach. The soldiers that had opted to follow him to this duel to watch and be silent observers were quickly trying to get out of the way. They had been standing on the beach not fifteen meters from them and so when the massive tidal wave had begun to push against the shoreline they were inevitably going to be caught in the crossfire.

Laphisto snarled lightly to himself, how hypocritical of a Jedi to preach saving innocent's and yet here was one putting innocent's in harms way. Granted his men were not meer civilians but soldiers, but they were but observers innocent in the concept of just watching a fight. Reaching out with the force he grabbed all six of them and quickly flung them up into the air throwing them a good fifty or so meters up into the air, the LO-ADS fall protection system kicking on and allowing the soldiers to use repolsorlift boosters to help guide them further to safety.

Though in choosing to save his own men he inadvertently left himself open giving him only a split second to try and save himself from the crashing tidal wave, causing laphisto to grunt claws digging into sandstone and then being smashed backwards caught in the wave before using the force to send out another blast of energy thus allowing him to then send up a protective bubble around himself till the waves died down.
