Strength 1: Coming from a warrior society and the daughter of a famous shieldmaiden, Sur'tra is especially skilled in combat, having killed literally hundreds of people in Midvinter's endless and often frivolous civil wars.
Strength 2: Coming from a large family with an absentee father, Sur'tra has learned to make very little stretch very far, and is self-sufficient anywhere she's allowed to hunt.
Strength 3: Being born of two different kinds of humanoid species that had not had much contact, Sur'tra happens to be an exceptionally-healthy being. She overcomes illness and injury more readily and completely than the average of either of her parent species.
Strength 4: Gifted in the Force, especially in terms of understanding technology without proper training, she's a fast learner.
Strength 5: Growing up in a household with parents in a loving and nourishing relationship despite their great differences has made Sur'tra more prone to perspective taking, empathy, and rationality in her interpersonal interactions than her peers. Until they try to talk down to her, that is.
Weakness 1: Being gifted in the Force in a society that has only recently even had contact with the outside world has made Sur'tra vastly overconfident in herself when it was time for her to undergo trials of adulthood. As such, she is possessed of an ego on par with the Darkest of Dark Lords. She'll understand others, but is reluctant to think of them as equal to herself in terms of accomplishment and will prefer her own proposed solutions to problems over others'.
Weakness 2: Sur'tra knows very little about politics and everything else in the greater galaxy, making her an outsider and perceived as ignorant.
Weakness 3: Growing up Black on Midvinter, where the population is woefully deficient in pigment, made her constantly have to defend her Valkyriness--to be more Valkyri than the Valkyri. If her ability in anything is challenged, she feels bound by honor to meet that challenge.
Weakness 4: Having her father abducted during a critical stage of her development has given Sur'tra a fear of abandonment. Though she gets along with other people readily, she's reluctant to join them long term lest they leave her and she feels that devastation again.
Weakness 5: Possessed of much more heft and a half-Valkyri heritage, Sur'tra overheats easily and must take off layers of clothing, sometimes mid-battle. She also found it necessary to change her wardrobe almost immediately after leaving home, as her preferred clothing was greatly unsuited to the controlled temperatures of most inhabited worlds.
APPEARANCE:
A tall humanoid who is both plump and muscular, with dark brown skin and short, blue-dyed hair. Fond of wearing paint on her face and form-fitting clothes, most preferably leathers.
BIOGRAPHY:
Sur'tra Sunblade was the fourth of six children of Hilda Bearnsdottir and Doshal, a visitor from the stars to the Midvinter populace, who was a human Korun man with dark brown skin whom Hilda had loved and married but who had left the family one night, never to return, presumed abducted by hostile aliens. Among his belongings left behind were a journal, a star map, and a cylindrical piece of metal with a button on one side. In his journal, which was written in a language not of Midvinter.
Doshal was said to possess strange powers, including the ability to see the future and learn things quickly, and a sword made of flame. Before long, it became apparent that Sur'tra shared these powers, and, so, it was decided that she alone should inherit her father's belongings and go out to find him. Over time, by reading and re-reading her father's journal, Sur'tra found that her father had been running from someone called the Silver Jedi. Sur'tra vowed to find this Jedi and hold him accountable for her father's disappearance. But, first, she had to get off Midvinter.
Sur'tra's childhood was one of exceptional challenge and adversity. The importance of tattoos in her society, and the futility with which she attempted to display them against her dark skin, led her to creative solutions to advertise her accomplishments, which she came to learn the greater galaxy knew as "makeup."
Working a combination of jobs fixing various foreign devices brought to Midvinter by alien traders, selling her "makeup" to interested warriors, and fighting in campaigns of allied chieftains, Sur'tra eventually earned enough to take a transport off-world to the heart of the Silver Jedi's territory, Voss, where it was said the Silver Jedi's headquarters was established.
