Setting

Welcome Survivors, I am your host Bruce Wayne and this is Survivor. You will be surviving on the beautiful planet of Felucia. I hope you all brought some water. Seriously though, please leave all belongings behind and we will provide, but you will find a supply crate in once you land on the shore.

Planet is a jungle planet, but lucky for you, we will be dropping you on a island. This island is full of wonders, some good ans some bad, but let's talk about the good first. There are lovely caves that can be found on the island along with waterfalls and rivers dotting the island. There is a moderate amount of vegetation, but be warned, some may not be edible. You will find the planet is hot and humid at the day time and cool at night. You also get the pleasure of being about of the planet's rainy season so that is nice.

On your island you will find it untouched and uninhabited by Felucians, but be warned there will be Jungle Rancors, but I hear they are not so kind to outsiders. There are Tee-Muss on the planet so that is nice! There is also small game we have imported you can hunt for food.

The Game
Survivors, you will find yourselfs waking up from sedation on the shores of a planet. You all have on basic clothing and no items. Near by is a supply crate with the bare necessities? A box of matches (21 count), a pack of water distilment pellets (6), a basic hatchet, a hunting knife, a needle and thread, fishing line and hook, twine, and a med kit.

You will fine this is not enough to survive for how long this game is. Every sunday til the 4th of May we will have competitions between the two teams for much needed supplies like food, clean water, flint and steel, weapons, and even pizza. You will find it crucial to win because the losers will leave empty handed so use what you have wisely.

Each team has a supervising Knight who will not help you and will be provide with the things they need to survive comfortably and will camp away from you and have their lightsabers. Their role is merely that of a protector if things get too bad or someone is in life threatening danger. They are also how you win as they keep track of points. You get points from competitions and survival techniques, here is a break down:

Competitions: Vary, usually they are worth the points need to tip the scale. I e, if green has 40 points and blue has 30 then competition is 15 points to give a 5 point lead if blue wins.

Making a fire with matches: 1 point
Making a fire with other means: 2 points
Cleaning water with pellets: 1 point
Cleaning water another way: 2 points
(seeing a pattern here? 1 point for using tools from the the supply crate, but 2 if you use other means)

Making a shelter: 10 points
Killing a rancor: 5 points
Hunting: 3 points

Now Knights, if you believe your team does something worthy of 1 point you can give it, but be reasonable and fair here. You are to be impartial and fair to the other team. If you have questions about points or if something happens you are unsure about, feel free to message [member="Coci Heavenshield"] and get her opinion. Yes, she volunteered to help without knowing and a lot of Padawans would be very sad if she backs out ;)

Well Survivors, I will see you next Sunday for your first competition, now SURVIVE!

Fleur arrived on the island with nothing but the clothes on her back. Her weapons had been left in the care of the events' organizers as they were not allowed to be brought with her. Fleur felt rather vulnerable as she was unable to command the force and bend it to her will yet as she walked off the she walked off the shuttle and onto the island. Nearby was a supply crate in which she found a box of matches, a pack of water distilment pellets, a basic hatchet, a hunting knife, a needle and thread, fishing line and hook, twine, and a med kit. Obviously not enough to survive a week but it seemed like the group she was assigned with would have to make do with these.

Picking up the hatchet, she headed in the direction of the trees. They would need wood and quite a bit of it to build a shelter - preferably one for everyone as she was not a fan of sharing living quarters with others. Using all the strength she could muster in her arms, Fleur started hacking into a medium sized tree. She was not a naturally strong person so it would probably take her many strikes at the tree before it would fall. However, what she lacked in strength, she made up for in determination and viciously hacked away at the tree. After approximately twenty five more hits with the hatchet, it appeared that the tree was finally giving way and could fall with any hit.

"Timber!" She yelled unsure if any of the other members of her group had arrived yet as her full concentration had been on the tree as the it finally fell. It was only after she had succeeded in felling the tree did she feel tired. Her arms felt weak from the effort. Putting the hatchet down, she headed towards the beach and sat down watching the waves lap the shore.

“Timber!”

Valae’s eyes snapped open to the sound of cracking wood, and the rumbling of a tree falling to the ground. Slowly she came to the realization that she was lying on the ground, much like she had simply fallen asleep on an unfamiliar shore. She pushed herself up into a sitting position and rubbed the dirt off the right side of her face, dark eyes scanning the area around her. She had definitely heard a female voice somewhere near, and knew that another one of her team members was already hard at work. As she stood up she took a moment to gather herself, reaching out with the force and centering her thoughts. This place was most familiar; she remembered arriving on Felucia for the first time and how the living force was so strong.

Clad in only her standard training outfit, robe and boots she did feel a bit odd traveling about without her rucksack on her back. She would miss the security of having her personal items, and small stash of snacks. Valae’s eyes shifted down to her wrist, happy to see that her hair tie was still there, and promptly used it to tame back her wild brown hair. This competition would be a stretch for the meek padawan, but she had high hopes that it would help her branch out and become more self-reliant. Of course her mind was full of doubts, and the fear that she wouldn’t last through the first day... but she knew this was the sort of mindset that would hinder her efforts. She pushed the fear of uncertainty out of her mind, just in time to see the figure of a young woman emerging from the brush.

Quickly Valae moved in her direction, and soon came to stand next to the girl sitting on the sand.

“Umm... Hello.” She said, looking down. Unless she was mistaken, this was not someone from Sanctum space... “I’m Valae, are you here for the competition too?” She asked, though it was fairly apparent that they were here for the same purpose.

She wondered how many others would be joining them, and if there would be any friends among the other survivors.

Maxumus sat up quickly as he heard the tree hit the ground. He was still wearing his usual grab, with his mask still disguising his face. As he got to his feet, he walked over to the supply box. Inspecting it, he noticed the hunting knife, and picked it up. Spinning it in his hand, he attached it to his belt, before walking over to the two women. "I'm guessing you two fine ladies are part of this competition as well?" He said, looking up and down the shore.

Survivor. Bah. Drop someone into the wild without clothes or tools, no medical equipment, no cameras, that was survivor. Then again, that might be somewhat awkward with present company. Still, better this than some scripted thing taking place in an executive's private range.

The Knight had been flown in as the learners had been laid out on the beach and a single supply crate. There were a few faces he recognized from around the Temple - Valae was one he knew by name - but others he didn't recognize at all. When he was dropped off he was given his own survival kit, fully stocked with useful items. He'd be living away from the others, not sharing any of his equipment or knowledge. A babysitter essentially, there to help protect the learners if they entered mortal danger or the situation degenerated.

Audren didn't intend to use most of what he was given. So little of his time with the Jedi had been in situations like this, and he was going to make the most of it. Oh, his lightsaber and the comprehensive medkit he'd keep with him of course. But the survival rations, the vibroknife, the shelter...he'd make do without them as well as he could. He just needed to keep in mind the rule of three. It wasn't a forest, it was a jungle, but they were close enough. Personal challenge to himself.

The Sephi understood how difficult it was to see something still against a busy backdrop such as a jungle. So he stayed still and watched as the group started to wake. It would be interesting to see how each of them reacted.

One of them thought quickly, taking the hatchet and going to work on a tree. Presumably, that was for shelter. Smart girl. Valae and another woke up as the first woman was shouting a warning of the falling tree; she went over to the other female, while the male took the knife from the kit and headed in the same direction. This was certainly going to be interesting.

The Anzati powerhouse arrived, not needed any weapon; he however missed them as he had used them in a number of occasions when he had gone hunting with his fellow Mando'ade, something that he missed at times. He had heard that he had to come in without any weapon; technically speaking however, the force itself was a powerful weapon...but that was a discussion for another time.

Dralos didn't really consider himself like a Padawan. The Mandalorian considered himself to be able to 1v1 a Sith Knight, and his grasp of the force was able to prove it. The Jedi however didn't need to know that, the Mandalorian not trusting all forms/splinter factions of the Republic's Jedi Order considering what the Jedi Order had done under the Republic. Sure, was removing Ali Hadrix a commander a good first step; definitely. That however wouldn't help the PR campaign of the Republic, and he knew that his fellow Mando'ade still didn't trust the Republic- a feeling that was certainly justified.

"Hello." the Anzat stated, being able to sense the Jedi and individually judge their force signatures. Dralos would have loved for it to be a friendly competition match, but then again, it was probably because of his Mando'an blood. Even then, he intended on doing his part for the team, so that they could beat the Pubs.

Kaylanna arrived with a pack and her clothes and when she woke up she could hear familiar sounds, someone was chopping wood. Slowly her eyes still full of sleep she struggled to get up first to her knees and then pushed to where she could stand. She felt disoriented a big word for a little girl, she walked towards the sounds.

Where was she? this place did not look familiar it did not look like home. She saw a group working to cut down more trees, she moved watching listening, "I'll work on getting things together for the roof." Her father had taught her how to do this on a camping trip once, "There's should be plenty of vines here" It was a jungle world, and she wasn't allowed to use sharp things without supervision anyhow, least not like what they were all using.

Kaylanna walked to the edge and began pulling the vines from the ground, dragging them until the began to curl into a circle.

GEAR: MEDICAL KIT

Waking to the sound of wavers crashing, then a females voice cried out a warning of a falling tree, Nagate found himself on an island on the planet Felucia. He'd never been here. Only knew what was in the news and the few articles he'd read. Standing and brushing the sand from his coat, he pulled out his mask and checked it. It was undamaged, although he didn't know why it would have been. There were a few others gathering already. Two women, he didn't know either of them. A man with facial tattoos, also unknown, and a small child who seemed all to comfortable in the woods, best guess was either farmer or Mandalorian. Presumably the latter.

Approaching the group, he realized he could not feel anything through the Force. This island was isolated from it, pity. But his skills from training should work well enough to get himself through. It would take some getting use to, not having his powers, but this was a survival quest, what would it be without its handicaps? Still not much of the talker he'd wished he was, Nagate stowed his mask and leaned on the supply crate. A box of matches and water filtration tablets, needle & thread, a medkit. Nagate grabbed the Medical Kit and slung it over his back. Never knew when you'd need that.

"Ha...have you finished with the tree.?.I could start cutting it up for y...you." His nervous speech pattern had returned, right on schedule.

He looked towards the woman who appeared out of breath. She had to have been the one who cut the tree down, it made sense. He reached out for the hatchet, hoping she'd willingly give it up.

Jonathan awoke with his face deep in the sand. He coughed spitting some up as he slowly opened his eyes adjusting to the light. His head felt like he had gotten slapped across the forehead. He began to rises his head and saw Joza next to him. So they were on a team, interesting. He looked around and saw a few more still out, but a few up. He slowly stood to his feet and looked around their surroundings.

He saw a forest ahead of him and water behind him with the slightest outline of other land on the other side, suggesting they were far from land. He saw they were chopping wood and pulling vines, no doubt for fire and shelter. Since that was being taken care of he began to weigh his options of what he should do. They would need food and water, water more than food. He saw a supply crate near by and went to it. There wasn't much, but there was signs others had gotten into it. He saw matches and water distilment pellets so that covered water, now they needed food.

He rummaged through the supply crate, no weapons, "Damn." He patted himself down, "They took my knives too? Chit." He would need a weapon to bring down animals. He looked around him trying to figure out what to use. He saw the little girl pulling vines and that seemed genius. He ran to the woods near her, "Hey, I am Jonathan, mind if I steal some of these vines for food?" He smiled and began pulling some vines now near her looking for the strongest ones and getting quite a few, but leaving most for her. He thanked her and then proceed into the woods.

He began using his training to look for tracks to find what kind of animals were here. He found signs of dried up rivers, which he could not decide if it was a good or bad thing. He kept moving and found another river with water and noted it's relation to the camp. He looked for tracks and found a few to suggest a few small and medium sized animals came her. He began tieing a few snares and used sticks as trips for his snares. He used the trees near by to attach his snares. He made a few of them, four to be exact, two for small animals and one for medium. H e had some left over vines and so he put that in a pocket and began covering his traps being careful not to trip them.

He then walked the side of the river keeping an eye out for rocks that had been worn into a point. He walked for about 30 to 40 minutes until he found one he liked and jumped down to the river side to retrieve it. It wasn't as sharp as he liked, but he grabbed another rock near by to fix that. He also found a nice long stick that was almost perfect straight. He began his trip back to his snares. while sharpening his rock head. Once he returned he saw his traps untouched and was a bit sad. He picked a spot in eye sight, but far enough not to disturb animals.

He climbed a tree to get a good vantage point and begin work on his spear. He used his now sharp spear head to clean the stick of unneeded and loose bark. He then used it like a knife to make a slit where the head would fit. Once placed, he would use the vine to wrap it first in an X pattern to secure it then wrapped it like a wrist wrapping to secure it. He began to test to make sure the head was secure and was satisfied with his work. He sat and watched his snares, waiting for animals.

Fleur was mesmerized by the movement of the waves as this was the first time she had been on a beach so this was a new experience for her. Then, a woman's voice broke the silence. “Umm... Hello.” She said, looking down. “I’m Valae, are you here for the competition too?”

Reluctantly looking away from the waves, Fleur meekly nodded her head. "I'm Fleur," she said feeling a bit anxious. Social interactions were never one of her specialties. She did not have much of a chance to speak to [member="Valae Kitra"] before a masked man approached the two.

"I'm guessing you two fine ladies are part of this competition as well?" He asked the two women. Once again, Fleur meekly nodded in response. It was not long before another contestant headed towards the group. This time it was a tattooed man.

"Hello," was the only word he had used to greet the group that had gathered.

A child then approached the group. "I'll work on getting things together for the roof." said the child. "There's should be plenty of vines here," she said as she went off in search of some.

Then a man with jet black hair and the med kit slung on his back approached the group. "Ha...have you finished with the tree? I could start cutting it up for y...you." He offered nervously. While she knew it was not his intention, his nervous tone reminded her of the manner in which some of maids at 'home' had spoken to her with annoying her. Although she was dubbed the 'Child of Misfortune' by her parents through no fault of her own, only bad luck and coincidences she was still - in her mind - just a normal woman. Well, as normal as one could be with her upbringing.

"Go ahead," Fleur said offering him the hatchet.

Still feeling tired from chopping the tree down, Fleur was not in the mood to be a part of the crowd. "I'm going to look edible plants," she announced to the group as she stood up to walk into the forest and away from the group. Although she did not have much experience with the outside world, Fleur was an avid reader and read any book that she could get her hand on amassing what some may consider a library of random and useless knowledge in her mind.

Maxumus nodded in response to [member="Fleur de La Fontaine"]'s comment, before heading for the tree line. They had to eat, and by the looks of things, they didn't have anything. Maxumus moved quietly, stalking through the foliage before coming across a rather large opening. He looked around, trying to see if any animals were nearby. Then he heard it, the roar, one of a creature that was much bigger than he. Maxumus quickly darted up a tree, trying to disguise himself in the leaves. Below, a rancor appeared, walking into the clearing. Just my bloody luck Maxumus thought, before removing the knife from his belt. He then sat in the tree, unmoving, waiting to either run or strike.

Valae had smiled at the other padawan that had introduced herself as Fleur, silently thinking that it was a pretty name. The others were beginning to wake and make their way over to them. She had nodded to each new arrival and made sure to make a quick introduction. Just as quick as they had come, it seemed that many of the other padawans began to set out on their own to start working. She looked around, wondering just what she could help with. It seemed that shelter should be a high priority, as should fire... water... food... okay, they had many tasks ahead of them that were important to complete. While she wasn't a skilled hunter or fisherman, perhaps she could lend some assistance with building a shelter.

"I'll come with you, we should start building a shelter structure." She said to [member="Nagate Hei"].

She picked up the twine from the box of supplies, frowning at the small spool that had been provided. It wouldn't be near enough to complete a shelter. There was only one other option, they would have to make some more. Perhaps she and Nagate Hei could work together to split some vines and braid them together.

OOC: I like the idea of labeling what gear we have from the crate, since we have such limited supplies. Also, may as well label what we're doing and where!

Nagate grabbed the hatchet from the woman, as he turned the other woman decided to follow. Nagate smiled and led the way to the fallen tree.

"I'll start with the limbs, then work on the logs. We could use the smaller branches for firewood and maybe sharpen some of the larger ones into points, for defense."

Nagate began chopping the limbs off the trunk, the work was more difficult than he'd first thought, without the Force to aid his strength or stamina, this was a test of his natural skill. Strength was not his best attribute, but speed and stamina were. Quickly working his way down the whole tree, it was now a long pole. He looked around for good spear branches and cleaned them up and worked them into a point. He made 5 good ones.

Then he moved on to trimming the largest branches down for support beams or trusses. These needed to be thicker than the spears and taller. The lower branches would work for this. After they were completed, he moved them over to Valae to work on.

"I'm Nagate by the way...Valae right? I heard you say it before. Pleased to meet you..." He trailed off, that sounded too formal, stupid.

Refocusing on the work at hand, he managed to cut the trunk into moderate sizes. About his height, 6' or so. He began dragging the beams into place to set up the four corners. He'd need to dig them into the ground a bit and used the hatchet for this. Simple survival training. Build the structure and foundation strong and it will hold.

Calling out to the group, "I suggest lending us a hand, if you want to beat that storm!" He looked over the water and saw dark clouds forming off the coast about two clicks. "We'll need something to cover the wood, like large leaves or enough brush to give us protection from the rain.

Objective: Supervise Padawans

All of the sudden, Audren's head turned and his eyes focused deeper into the jungle. More than one of the learners had headed into the tree line, but that was to be expected. He was able to keep tabs on them through the Force, after all. However, only one of them had stumbled upon a creature large enough to be a rancor, and this early in the game. The learner didn't seem overly worried, so Audren wasn't worried. He could get there in time with the aid of the Force. The rest of them were working, focusing mainly on the shelter.

Then the Force was simply gone. It didn't diminish, didn't fade away, just disappeared completely.

The Sephi didn't curse, not out loud. The situation had changed, and keeping tabs on the learners would be next to impossible. Now he needed to prioritize, and the highest priority was the person in potential danger, the one with the rancor. Near silently, the Knight headed into the jungle, already pulling his lightaber out. He sincerely hoped he wouldn't need it, but better safe than sorry, especially now that he didn't know what was happening and his speed was more hampered than it would have been. As he left, he caught the faint call about the oncoming storm and looked back. About two or so kilometers offshore, dark clouds were gathering. There wasn't much of a breeze at the moment, but what little was present was headed inland, which meant the storm would be heading towards the island. And with no time to prepare a shelter of his own, gather food, or even do basic scouting, it looked like he might be using more of the provided equipment than first thought. More a blow to his pride than anything else though.

As he closed on the approximate location he'd felt the learner and rancor, Audren slowed. He'd already been moving quietly compared to most city-dwellers, but now he was a match for experienced hunters and woodsmen. Moving slower allowed him to take more in as well, to take note of the rancor before it took note of him. Notably, he listened. Attacking rancors - especially those encountering resistance - made lots of noise and he could track that noise. Without it, chances were good that the contestant was in good condition.

Jonathan waited for hours in his tree for his traps to catch something. He caught a few smaller creatures eventually and a medium sized one which would do well for tonight. He jumped down his tree and used his spear to finish them. Just as he was about to skin them and bring them back he heard a rour. It was clearly a rancor breed, but judging by the way it roared it was female and something had entered it's breeding ground. Animals from here would know better to avoid certain areas, so it had to be something or someone who didn't. Jonathan had to be sure.

He moved swiftly through the woods to where he heard the calling. He made his steps light to draw less attention to himself. Once he entered the area he saw it. A young female stalking around, but what it was stalking was not clear. He looked around as the rancor picked up a new scent. Before it turned it's attention on Jonathan, he saw a white cloth in a tree. He could only assume it was one of the team members. The rancor set it's sight on Jonathan who now had his spear leveled. His spear would normally not be enough, but if he was smart and used it in one spot in particular, he could make this work.

He spotted a vein near by and grabbed on to it pulling to make sure it was secure and then he ran away from the rancor at full speed. As the rancor chased, Jonathan felt the tension increase and then he used a tree to wall run up a little and then swung back at the rancor. He swung over it's head and as he passed by he let go of the vein and with two hand on his spear he came down at the Rancor aiming his spear for the back of the neck to jam it through. Once it was in, he held on tight as the rancor lashed out in rage. Jonathan didn't let go, but the ride was far from enjoyable. Once the rancor slowed it's rage, Jonathan twisted his spear to bring the Rancor down. Jonathan stood on the rancor with his spear lodged in trying to work it out and making a mess.

After a bit, Jonathan had freed his weapon which proved to hold up well. He used the spear tip to cut off the claws one by one as they could use these as daggers. Once he was done he looked up and around looking for what he had saw before, "Hey, someone up there? Can you help me? I caught some food a few clicks south and will need help carrying it."

Kaylanna looked back at the adults. She didn't know any of them she didn't see her brother either was [member="Corvus Detta"] somewhere here too? She put the vines in piles and then began pulling big leaves from the jungle. She looked over at where they were cutting wood. Kaylanna began dragging the vines back to where she saw them cutting logs.

She got there out of breath looking at [member="Valae Kitra"] and [member="Nagate Hei"] , "i got some things to tie a roof down, like with palm frawns or something." She wouldn't use a hatchet, but she knew how to do a few other things,

"Should I get things like that for the roof?"

As Nagate went to work chopping the branches from the tree, Valae went about gathering up some vines that had dried in the sun. The vines were rather feeble on their own, but when braided together their strength increased and would come in very handy in place of rope.

When she heard him address her, Valae turned and offered a nod to indicate that he’d gotten her name right. “It’s nice to meet you, Nagate.” She said with a smile.

As they turned their focus to digging holes for the support beams, Valae used a wide branch to help move dirt aside... it wasn’t as effective as a shovel would have been, but it worked well enough. They were making progress, but she was already worried about the space needed to house everyone.

The padawan’s eyes shifted up as a blonde girl made her way over, she too had gathered vines and other plants to use as tie-downs.

“Yes, please!” Valae called. “We will need a lot of fronds for the roof. I’ll work on gathering some too.”

The clouds in the distance looked a bit ominous... perhaps they should hurry.

He chuckled as he brought his spear back to his side. and tossed the guys one of the long and sharp rancor claws that had a slight curve to it that he could use as a dagger or make a spear or something from. "Be careful, I am not entirely sure the Rancor claws are not poisonous. Pretty sure they aren't. Anyways, food it this way." Jonathan walked back through the forest following the trail he made while running.

Once he returned he found his food still untouched which was a pleasant surprise. He grabbed some jungle vines tying all the small animals together and hooking them to his pants. Then with the medium one he tied the legs up, the front together and the back together and then broke off a long stick that he would run between the legs to make it easier for the two to carry. "Think this should be enough?" He said as he carried the front end of the stick letting the second guy grab the back as they took their catch back to the main camp.
