- VTOL Capable - The Gunship is equipped with Thrusters that enable it to hover and accurately manoeuvre around structures and terrain. As an additional benefit, this allows it to deploy and exfiltrate small squadrons of infantry.
- Multi-Purposed - Depending on the Missile Pod loadout the Gladius can fulfil a variety of combat roles.
- Battlenet Capable - Advanced HUD and Sophisticated Computer Systems use predictive technologies to identify enemy sightlines and firing arcs highlighting threats to the crew. Additionally, units attached to the Battlenet are highlighted as Friendlies reducing the risk of friendly fire in chaotic or enclosed environments.
- Heavily Armoured - The Susevfi Pattern Gladius has improved defensive sub-systems, featuring a complete Countermeasure Package, Matrix Hull Plating, and Graphene reinforced viewports making it highly resistant to small arms fire and capable of withstanding several Laser Cannon shots.
- VTOL Mode - While in the VTOL state the gunship's speed is drastically reduced making it an easy target to ground-based AA and Superiority Fighters.
- Battlenet - To take full advantage of this technology other units must be capable of utilising the Battlenet. Units incapable of using this feature do not display on the HUD and cannot be monitored.
- Expensive - The Susevfi Pattern due to the technologies involved is very expensive to produce compared to Gunships of the same class.
- Limited AA Capability - The Gunship is vulnerable to Superiority Fighters, particularly more mobile ships that can avoid its forward firing arc, with only a dorsal mounted Laser Cannon turret to protect it.
- Specialised - The Susevfi Pattern has several forward-mounted weapon systems combined with its VTOL capability making it an excellent platform to counter enemy infantry, Capital Ship hardpoints and vehicles, particularly in Urban or Mountainous terrain. However, its dogfighting capabilities leave much to be desired. Primarily due to the gunship's lack of speed.
Designed and produced on commission by Novean Technologies for the Rimward Trade League, the Gladius is an advanced gunship that provides air support and transportation to specialist operation groups such as ORION and as escorts for Capital Ships. Currently, two squadrons are known to be in Service, with an additional Squadron dedicated to Novean Technologies security group.
These squadrons identify as the Black Cats (ORION), Aegis (Merchant Navy), and Vigilus (Novean Securities). Historically, the Black Cats are notable for having been used as Hunter-killers targeting imperial remnant operations and supporting with exfiltration missions of ORION agents. Meanwhile, Aegis provides escorts for cargo ships travelling through hostile territories and operating pirate suppression missions.
