OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To create the base of operations for Darth Vindictus within the New Sith Order and Brotherhood of the Maw
  • Canon: N/A
  • Permissions: N/A
  • Links: N/A
SETTING INFORMATION
  • Structure Name: Sventove iv Ayitaga-Temple of Avarice
  • Classification: Temple
  • Location: Lao-Mon
  • Affiliation: Brotherhood of the Maw
  • Accessibility: The Temple of Avarice is located deep in the jungles of Lao-Mon, surrounded by an abandoned village. The thick jungle foliage prevents any vehicles from approaching the Temple from the ground, and the dangerous creatures of Lao-Mon that inhabit the jungle makes foot travel to the Temple unwise. Air travel to the Temple is the primary, and safest way to approach, but the thick tree tops of the jungle limit the number of accessible landing spots. There is a single clearing made near the Temple for ships to land in, though there is still a risky trek to be made to the Temple from there. A single landing pad is located at the Temple itself, the best spot for ease of access.
  • Description: The Temple of Avarice is a large, pyramid shaped building surrounded by the thriving jungles of Lao-Mon. The Temple itself is a massive construct, nearly half a kilometer in height and twice that in diameter. Scores if windows are spaced at seemingly random intervals across the Temples surface, with the unorganized chaos slowly coming into a state of order towards the uppermost levels of the Temple. Statues line the top of the Temple roof, each one depicting one of the various monstrosities of Lao-Mon. A single, large staircase divided into two section at first but merging together leads up to the main entrance of the Temple. Surrounding the base of the Temple are dozens of wooden shacks, laying in various states of decay with a few having completely collapsed in on themselves.
POINTS OF INTEREST
  • Dark Sanctum: Located at the very heart of the Temple of Avarice, the Dark Sanctum serves as the private residence for Darth Vindictus and gathering place for those who call the Temple their home. The main hall for the Dark Sanctum is fifty meters in height, lined will stone statues of bent beings, arms outstretched above their bowed heads holding up the ceiling. Black and orange banners hang from the wall between the statues, displaying the symbol of the New Sith Order and Darth Vindictus himself alternatively down the length of the hundred meter hall. The far end of the Dark Sanctums main hall is dominated by a crimson throne, set into a base of pure obsidian. This is the Throne of the One, and overlooks a small collection of chairs set around it from where Vindictus can discuss events with his followers.
    • A door located behind the Throne of the One leads to Vindictus's private living quarters. Rather small by comparison to the rest of the Dark Sanctum, the Sith Lords living quarters are made up of three rooms, two attached to the central chamber on either side by a narrow corridor. The central chamber is a meditation and training center for Vindictus. A sandpit lines one half of the rooms floor, with several raised pedestals protruding from it. A constantly burning pit of coal and flames is located in another corner of the room with a small mat placed before it. One of the attached rooms serves as the Sith Lords sleeping quarters, with a bed that is set into the ground itself. The other chamber is a personal library and laboratory for the Sith Lord, with dozens of bookcases and tables filled with tools for Vindictus to carry out experiments in solitude.
  • Theater of War: The Theater of War is the primary armory and training center for those within the Temple of Avarice. Located on the eastern side of the Temple, the Theater of War is a three hundred meter long corridor connecting to dozens of different rooms. The corridor itself is barely lit, dominated only by a brazier set at the far end, seeming to beckon anyone who enters the corridor towards its warmth and light. Banners hang from the walls of the main corridor, each one depicting an ancient victory of the Sith over their enemies, even against other Sith. The first two rooms for the Theater of War are armories, filled to the bursting point with every weapon imaginable. From blasters to daggers and everything in between, the armories are able to provide a wide array of training tools for those seeking to expand their abilities within. The rest of the rooms along the corridor are small dueling rings, circular chambers filled with sand roughly five meters in diameter.
    • There is a view box set above the Theater of War, near the roof of the Temple, allowing for those within to look down upon each of the various rooms in the Theater of War. it is here that Darth Vindictus, or other present Sith Lords, can oversee and observe the training of their apprentices and followers without directly interfering.
  • The Pits: Located beneath the Temple of Avarice are the Pits, a massive dungeon complex for the enemies, and sometimes allies, of the New Sith Order located on Lao-Mon. Here, hundreds of small cells are spread out in a pitch black catacomb setting, each one seven feet cubes without any sources of light. Located at every junction is a guard checkpoint, where the soldiers of Darth Vindictus ensure that their charges have no chance of escape. There are three torture chambers spaced out across the Pits, each one placed in such a way so that the screams of the chambers current occupants can be heard in all the cells around it. The only way to access the Pits is by use of the Force, preventing even the guards within from leaving without aid from those beyond in the Temple.
  • Shrine of Hate: The Shrine of Hate is the primary area for alchemical practices and experimentation within the Temple of Avarice. Here, the only brightly lit room in the entire complex, apprentices and masters alike are able to use the vast resources brought together by Darth Vindictus to further their own experiments and efforts using the Dark Side. Living specimens are kept on hand at all times, and security measures are in place to ensure that should anything go wrong, no damage too extensive will be inflicted upon the Temple itself. The Shrine of Hate has on wall that is entirely open to the surrounding jungle of Lao-Mon, allowing for a greater connection to the living elements of the planet itself.
  • Vault of History: As the name might imply, the Vault of History serves as the central repository of knowledge within the Temple of Avarice. Not massive by any comparison of galactic standards, the Vault instead focuses on having a wide variety of topics to read and research. A focus of quality over quantity in all aspects, the sheer number of options available in the Vault is a topic of great pride for Darth Vindictus, and he guards the Vault jealously. Roughly two stories in height, the Vault has three spiral staircases set about its walls, allowing for access to the wall covering bookcases.

SECURITY-Maximum
  • The Temple of Avarice is guarded at all times by the legions of Darth Vindictus, Final Dawn warriors. Located in several barrack-cities spread out around the Temple, each one of these complexes are capable of disgorging thousands of warriors, armed with blaster and sword to defend their liege lord and his home.
  • At all times there is a small fleet of warships in orbit directly above the Temple of Avarice, each one crewed by Tutnili warriors and members of the Final Dawn sworn to defend this bastion of the New Sith Order. Starfighter patrols constantly cross the skies for several kilometers around the Temple of Avarice, ensuring that no covert landing forces can slip by undetected.
  • The Temple of Avarice maintains an arsenal of thirty quad-turbolaser batteries in the jungles around it, situated at the barrack cities of the Tutnili warriors. These weapons are capable of providing a lethal barrage of weapons fire at any warship in orbit, and able to repel landing forces with lethal accuracy. A further fifty defense laser turrets are situated closer to the Temple itself, allowing for a more precise point defense.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
The Temple of Avarice traces its origins to the native species of Lao-Mon, the Shi'ido. Originally a simple city built by their people, a calamity long forgotten befell the inhabitants of the city. Travel to and from this city became erratic at first, before ending entirely, and all expeditions sent by the Shi'ido did not return. Marked as a hazard, the city became a quarantined section of Lao-Mon, and for the next few decades no living creature went near this city. The truth of what happened is still debated by the Shi'ido people, with thoughts ranging from a plague to the lethal creatures that inhabit their jungle covered world with them.

In truth however, the secret is far darker. A small group of Shi'ido, Force Sensitives, became corrupted by the Dark Side of the Force after a wandering Sith, Darth Vindictus, passed through the world on his galactic expedition. These corrupted Shi'ido became militaristic, eschewing the isolated and peaceful ways of their people and rose up against the rest of their city. They purged everyone who would not follow their ways, and in the bloody aftermath only a few dozen remained. Taking on a barbaric, savage nature, these remnants of the city defended their territory with a lethal vengeance, killing creature and Shi'ido alike if they strayed too close.

When Darth Vindictus returned to Lao-Mon, he was pleased to see the result of his visit. The corrupted Shi'ido attempted to kill him as well, but he slaughtered the more outgoing of the group before forcing the rest to submit to his will. He claimed the ancient city for himself, and began the process of corrupting it fully to the Dark Side of the Force. With his growing horde of followers, Vindictus began the process of rebuilding and expanding the newly named Temple of Avarice, turning it into a true bastion for the New Sith Order.

Darth Vindictus Apologies for the long wait and thank you for your patience. I just have one section I'd like to make a couple of small corrections in:

Security | There is a reference to Final Dawn in the first sentence. Please link the submission here (unless I misintrepreted during my read through). Under the second bullet point, the Tutinili are mentioned. Even though the submission is currently under Pre-Codex, there's no issue linking it here now. This will save you a future sub mod request.

As always, if there are any questions or if you have completed edits, simply give me a tag!
