Akestos
Surge Lord
The Swarm assignments for those that are a part of it.
There is a collective will to all things. A general consensus all things share. Drive and will, for growth and expansion.
Unconscious
Spawned - Everything with no other role. Cannonfodder drones, eyes and ears, workers. Much of the Swarm are drones, especially the smaller creatures.
Gatherer - Almost as a high a percentage are those feeding the swarm, they are sent out on mass to gather materials.
Seeder - Seeders carry the swarm microbe to other nearby worlds to start the cycle. They can come in a variety of forms, from tiny to large, often much smaller than you'd think.
Some Conscious Thought
Soldier - Soldiers fight to defend the hive. They make up the backbone of the stronger combat orientated swarm members, but are much more limited in number than drones. Soldiers have access to small amount of independent thought, enough to make them more effective than a mindless drone. They can be of any size, but usually are larger creatures.
Predator - Tend to be larger monstrosities either too big, hardy or old to be thought of as single soldiers. This might also be given to an especially noted instrument of the hive mind or something that has lived long and fruitfully for the swarm. By their nature they have access to more independent thought, but are still largely under the swarm's general consensus for the most part when necessary.
Conscious Thought
Firstspawn - are the oldest members, often bigger, or more cunning, carrying great gifts bestowed upon them by the hive mind, recognized for their special usefulness in seeding the swarm's reach and defending it over long periods. Even nonsentients can become firstspawn, usually champions or beings to rally around.
Convergence - Are the Intelligent Individuals carrying out the swarm's will. Though they can't override it, its more that they act on its best interests, acting as nodes on distant worlds for other swarm members. With one purpose, using their intelligence to advance the Swarm's desire for expansion and growth. Most PC's would probably want this role, though some may want to be a Firstspawn or something with less free will.
The Hive Mind. The lowest and the Largest. Everything communicates through this. It is not a separate entity or an individual controlling force for the wider swarm. It is focus for the collective desire for expansion and growth. The frontal lobe. Go here. This is important for expansion. We need this. It is also the link between all things ferrying messages from one piece of itself to another, a bodies nervous system. The structure of the consciousness for the rest of the creatures, subconscious included. Consensus control is maintained from all pieces of the hive feeding information to it. Though on older, more developed worlds, it can form collective nerve clusters to better send messages to individual creatures. It has no personality except to better seed and protect the swarm, knows no fear, anger, pain or regret, it merely learns as a collective entity.
