Sword construction

So I had this idea to make a sword with a mixture of Songsteel and Mandalorian iron as it's material. Is that possible and what would I need to do to get it? (Already have the songsteel covered at least) Or is it just not possible to do?

Combining restricted materials, such as in a blend, is not permitted in the factory.

Only in rare instances are two restricted materials allowed per submissions, but its all dependent on why. If it's cortosis blades being used on beskar armor, we'll allow it. If it's a cortosis-beskar alloy.... you're going to get denied.

Hm. This is something i never personally understood. Via mixing the two, say cortosis and beskar as quoted, you would lose out on the short circuiting, and would basically make a structurally weak beskar. In itself it seems to be preference thing, that would hold no real merit.

Same could be done from phrik and beskar, songsteel and neuranium. You would find you had a metal that is weaker than its strongest part...

Oh weight, is it about the metal weight? Cause that i could see. You could mix phrik and neuranium and have a structurally stable but much more lightweight than neuranium, weapon or armor.

Nevermind. Ignore me. Figured it out

I am curious why you would want to? Beskar is heavy and strong while songsteel is light and strong. You would basically forfit the benefit of songsteel and weaken the beskar. So they leaves me curious as to why, just cus maybe?

But, correct me I am wrong, beskar is all about purity so that sword would eventually snap from the impurities. Unless you used a fold method like Damascus still and folded the two metals together, but still the songstress would lose the fact it is light to the beskar's weight.

I mean this is all theory since you are not allowed two restricted metals.

only if the metals aren't treated right all swords will eventually snap if hit correctly. two metal can be used more like a bow using compounds to increase flexibility and strength.
id still say use one metal though.

Well when it comes to creating a sword, lighter isn't exactly better. With a physical sword like he was wanting you would want that extra weight. The power of a strike is based off of the weight of the blade, as well as your own weight if you use it properly, so the heavier beskar would actually make stronger blows than songsteel would. Now songsteel would be able to be swung quicker than beskar, but speed is only good if you are not fighting an armored individual. These same principles are also behind lightsabers. It is why they are so worthless against materials they can not cut through so easily. The blades carry so little weight that it might as well be none existent. Their power is completely behind them being able to cut through whatever they touch by burning it away.

I hope that helps explain things a bit. Now why someone would want to make an alloy out of the two, I can't say. It would be better to just make a layered material like most swords would have been. Songsteel in the center if it less brittle than the beskar, and the harder beskar on the outside to give it weight behind the blows. Both being resistant would make sense since then even if something happens to the beskar layer, the songsteel layer still stops the saber blows.

What brought you to the ideal that Song steel would only be good in a rapier style blade?

On regards to Beskar: via some techniques, one could make a pure Beskar sword that would be light as titanium equivalents. So it could be used for basically anything. That is true.

However, as said, an ideal bladed weapon will be backed with heavy velocities, which are best reached by weight behind it. So all in all, while either would make a good weapon, I agree to the aforementioned - double layer, Beskar out Song in, and I would also add twice tempering as well alongside a freeze bath to allow the blade to harden as well as it would be able.
