- Alchemical infused materials make the blade as strong and durable as any light saber, allowing the wielder to duel saber equipped force uses and allows blaster and solid ammunition to be deflected.
- The blade never loses its edge, even after millenia it is as sharp as when it was forged. Its sharpness combined with alchemical processes give it almost as much cutting power as a lightsaber.
- Dark wounds, the blade is infused with the life energy of a powerful sith and has the following effects when used to strike living opponents.
- wounds will heal more slowly and are more likely to fester. They can be healed with the force but it will take more effort.
- Light side force users wounded can find their connection to the force interrupted, this effect is relative to the severity of the wound and the strength of will of the force user, but even minor wounds will feel uncomfortable above the normal pain inflicted.
- Living creatures wounded by the blade may find themselves connected to it, allowing the wielder a bridge in the force to the target. This effect fades over time
- The wielder can commune with the spirit in the blade in the same way as a force ghost. This can aid meditation and strengthen the users bond with the dark side as the two minds share a connection. Trying this though can be dangerous as it is an opportunity for the wicked blade to attack its owner if it see fit.
- Properly bound, the blade will adapt to the users strength and style, balancing itself in combat allowing it to be wielded as if it was forged perfectly balanced for the user.
- The aura around the blade means force sensitives and dark force creatures will instantly recognise the weapon as a symbol of authority. It grants no actual control or power in that regards other than what the viewer grants it. In the same way as someone perceiving a crown on the head of a monarch.
- Dark Gifts - the sword grants numerous boons to a darkside force user as described in special features.
- Almost a lightsaber - in combat it performs almost as well as a lightsaber, it is durable and dangerous, it doesn't quite have the finesse to reflect shots back to a shooter, but can block shots effectively.
- Willbound - the sword must be convinced to work for the wielder, either by pact or by domination, both are considered dark side acts. Any light siders or insufficiently strong willed darksiders will feel the emotional anger of the sword directed at them and find it unbalanced in combat, never being in the right place to block blows.
- Driven by violence - the sword seeks violence and rage, if it feels its wielder is not acting in this way it will attempt to break its binding.
- Impossible to hide - sneaking about and avoiding detection is cowardice in the eyes of the sword. It constantly calls out through the force, mocking challenging those around it, making subterfuge or sneak attack very difficult.
- Less effective against non living targets - While the sharpness and power of the blade will cut armours, limbs off of battledroids and the like, against large, heavy items like tank hulls or blast doors it is less effective, unable to be used in the same way as a lightsaber to cut through, relying on persistence and strength of the user to hack through.
- Force reliance - as the sword functions almost as a sentient force sensitive itself, it is vulnerable to effects that nullify the force. If placed in some kind of anti-force zone, it temporarily loses its non-physical powers. It is still a formidable and dangerous weapon, leaving long lasting, hard to heal wounds, but the user must rely on their own martial prowess. This can be jarring to the user when it happens if they have allowed them to become accustomed to the constant connection to the sword.
- Loses ability to severe force connection
- Loses ability to commune with wielder
- Loses ability to form connection with wounded target
- No longer balances itself for the wielder, relying on them to work harder
- No longer sheds calls out to enemies or has its aura of authority
Millennia ago the Dagda Mor was a sith warlock of immeasurable power. It was said that he could snap his fingers and sever the connection to the force of those around him. He bound creatures to his will and raged a campaign if destruction in his local space. And yet there was one thing that alluded him, the ability to become immortal. In his last years he felt the call of the nether, waiting for his cursed soul to pass.
He set about forging a sword to be his legacy and to carry at least a portion of his soul into immortality. He poured his anger, his hatred and his passion in to the blade, ruthlessly killing any of the forgers that showed anything less than perfection, the blade was forged in alchemical steel and quenched in the blood of sacrificed force users.
The Dagda Mor saw his legacy being borne and performed rituals throughout its forging, slowly feeling less and less of his power contained in himself, and feeling the growing aura of the blade.
Once it was forged he felt the malice of the sword, malice he had held for people throughout his life, but this was directed at him, it hungered for the last of his essence, jealous that it was still not complete.
In his final act, he fell on his own blade, it hungrily bit into his flesh and took the last of his essence, his body turned to Ash and the sword clattered to the floor.
The acolytes of the Dagda Mor then took the blade and hid it, as per their masters last wish, waiting for one with the appropriate will to find it.
It has since passed from master to master, giving them strength and fueling their hatred, but ultimately driving them insane. Its latest master is Jester, the sword has willingly bonded with this new soul, only time will tell if Jester is worthy of the honour.
