STRENGTHS
  • Design: While seemingly a flaw in the design, the empty space in the upper half of the blade actually lightens the weapon considerably, allowing its owner to wield it more comfortably and without expending too much energy. Additionally, the relatively shorter blade allows it to be used in smaller spaces with less difficulty. While the lower half of the sword is nowhere near as impervious to damage as the upper half, the blade itself is nearly impenetrable to the wear and tear of war and can even withstand direct contact with Lightsabers for brief clashes. However, extended strikes or blade-locks against such a weapon can destroy the blade.
  • Dueling: The multi-edged pronged design of the blade also serves the purpose of enabling its owner to both defend from multiple angles and catch enemy weapons in the empty space of the blade. Summarily, the weapon's owner can then either break or move their enemy's weapons and open up critical moments for ending fights.
  • Versatile Grip: Because of the design, the hilt of the weapon allows its wielder to either use one hand or two hands, giving them a wider array of attacks and maneuvers in combat. Sufficiently skilled combatants can surprise their foes by rapidly switching stances, and with the pronged nature can hold the element of surprise from the get-go of the fight.
  • Force Conduit: While not possessing any innately active powers like other weapons tied to the Dark Side such as soul-stealing or extending the life of its wielders, the Sword of the Tenth is capable of serving as an ark or fork for its wielder's offensive connection to the Force - providing they prove powerful enough to do so. This is because of the Sarrassian Iron present in the alloy used to construct the blade of the weapon, a metal that resonates with the Dark Side of the Force. With this unique feature, the wielder can more precisely or recklessly use powers such as Lightning and Magic/Sorcery with the bonus of double-edged devastation in the middle of battle. The blade can even be charged with sufficient energy to create destructive telekinetic attacks capable of ripping apart the very earth.
WEAKNESSES
  • Weight: Despite the lighter weight granted from the design, the Sword of the Tenth is still quite the beast of a weapon and requires great strength to wield properly. The weapon can become quite bothersome because of this weight and will slowly begin to drain its wielder of their energy, even if they have been trained to use it for extended periods of time. Combatants facing those who wield this weapon can use this to their advantage and dodge their foe until they become too exhausted to defend themselves.
  • Ranged Weaponry: Similar to Lightsabers with edged blades as well as most Vibroweapons, the Sword of the Tenth is nearly incapable of blocking ranged weaponry. To do this requires impeccable timing and dexterity seen only in elite or prodigious Force Users, and all who have wielded this weapon have lacked these attributes.
  • Lightsabers: While the Impervium-Sarrassian Iron alloy blade is capable of resisting the power of a Lightsaber for brief clashes, extended impact with the weapon can either cut or shatter the weapon and leave its wielder open to critical strikes from their foes.
  • Force Nullification: Despite not being a "true" Sith Sword, the Sword of the Tenth is still susceptible to the effects of Void Stone and other forms of Force Nullification. If subjected to such a thing, the wielder will find that the weapon is only capable of serving as an incredibly sharp and durable, but otherwise unremarkable dueling sword.
DESCRIPTION
Similar to
the Panoply, although with greater validity of its history, the Sword of the Tenth is something of a relic on Devaron. Its creation dates as far back as the Clone Wars where it saw heavy use in the dark places of the galaxy.

Created by a now-extinct order of Dark Siders stationed deep in the jungles of Devaron, the Sword of the Tenth is a power duelist blade stained with the blood of hundreds if not thousands of lives claimed across the galaxy's underworld and forgotten battlefields. In the hands of this order, it carved story after story of heinous villainy all in the name of evil to spread the power of the Dark Side. Upon its creators' death - the cause of which is either a Jedi taskforce or the Empire's Inquisitors - the sword was locked away into a vault on a nameless Imperial world where it lay for centuries.

Eventually, it was recovered by a Devaronian mercenary-archaeological team who learned of its location from one of their clients - although neither they nor their client initially knew exactly what it was they were searching for. Upon discovering it, the Devaronians recognized its design as being similar to other weapons they had seen in museums on their homeworld and decided to return it home in hopes of receiving a greater reward - such as a sponsorship - from the museums.

The team was in fact rewarded for their efforts with quite the monetary gift by the museum, although they were quickly found dead in the remains of their ship some weeks later - the results of angering their client. The Sword of the Tenth remained in storage underneath Devaron's foremost repository, where it lingered for another few decades before being reclaimed by a disgruntled curator who was being fired for "behavioral issues." Like those archaeologists before him, this curator would wind up dead not days later, this time at the feet of one Darth Tera - more commonly known as Laoth.

Now in possession of the Sword of the Tenth, Laoth shoulders its infamy and carries on the terror of the generations who still live to remember its hateful existence.
