The Fall of the Bryn'adul Empire scattered the Draelvasier.
The once proud empire shattered into fiefdoms, chunks controlled by vicious Warlords who all took a piece as it fell. The largest among these was none other than Rakvul the Darkener, Former Warlord of the Bryn'adul and Wrath of the Chieftain who commanded what became known as the Bryn'adul Remnant. While still reeling from the discord caused by the fall, Rakvul quickly moved to unite what was left of his people and the empire they fought so hard for. Over the years this led to his fleet growing into an ever larger armada of ships.
While many spoke of the presumed death of Chieftain Tathra Khaeus, the Darkener wholly denied such reports. Instead, he chose to remain completely loyal to his liege and placed complete faith in him. Wherever Tathra was, he was undoubtedly doing something important and vital to the species. Until he returned, he would do what he could to unite their people, amass power, resources, and evolve from the failings of the past. As one of the most brilliant minds of the Draelvasier species, and in possession of great resources he was uniquely suited for such efforts.
The Darkener turned to the laboratory for answers.
After extensively researching the fighting capabilities of the empire and its military assets during the war, it quickly became clear there was something lacking in the naval front. Out of all the tables reporting various outcomes of battles, he quickly learned that there was something that was missing that was costing them battles. To this end he turned to the drawing board, determined to develop something new to offset such an unbalance.
What he came up with far exceeded expectations.
While the Draelvasier had already developed efficient anti-air weaponry capable of bringing down starfighters, it lacked the pinpoint accuracy to deal with other projectiles, missiles, it was a narrowly focused weapon. Rakvul began the development of a new form of Flak Gun heavily rooted in the realm of biotech, a field that the Draelvasier far exceeded all others in. Through the combination of components collected from galactic flak guns, and a unique blend of biotech he developed something entirely new. A weapon that would fire crystals of Draemidus Prime Ore coated in a bio-plasma substance. This unique combintion of bio-plasma and ore proved to be an absolutely explosive combination.
Additionally, Rakvul understood the inherent weakness of projectile based weaponry. Through extensive labor he altered the makeup of draemidus prime ore, changing it and bonding it with the bio-plasma. Additional systems were put into place to ensure the ammunition was self-regenerating. All it required was time and the weapon would simply replenish itself. Extensive tests revealed an absolutely frightening rate of fire. The weapon maintained exceptional accuracy, and a damage output far exceeding the anti-air guns of the past that allowed it to target other ships as well. When paired together they made an absolutely frightening anti-fighter screen. After a series of successful tests, he approved the weapon for deployment.
The weapon was named the Sylok Pattern Biocannon in honor of the legendary Sylok'Vanari, Life Weaver of Ashaka who fell during the war.
