TECHNICAL INFORMATION
SPECIAL FEATURES

  • Human Replicas: While actually droids, the Hoplite series Synthetic Soldiers are designed to appear as typical humans at a casual inspection. A key element of this is the use of a Soma series Droid Chassis, which is then covered in artificial rybcoarse/biofiber muscles to as servo-motors and then covered in synthflesh, much like their direct predecessor, the Synthdroid. Aside from making Hoplites easier to interact with organics (especially for civilians), it also enables them to utlilize existing weapons, armor, and other equipment originally designed for organic use.

  • Variable Appearance: Hoplite series Synthetic Soldiers use basic synthdroid construction, meaning that it takes only little effort to sculpt or dye the synthflesh to make it look like a variety of humans. Hoplite Synthetic Soldiers typically possess randomized appearance traits to make them look like more organic units on the battlefield, those purchasers can specify certain physical appearances if desired. However, their actual appearance as organics is not perfect, falling somewhat between the low-end Synthdroids and high-end HRDs. Most people can tell their true nature just from looks after spending around ten minutes with them, though frequently the droid's simple personality gives them away long before that. This makes them poor social infiltrators.

  • Variable Personality: While only capable of having simple personalities because of the robust nature of their droid brain, Hoplites can be programmed with a variety of personalities that can be summed up in one word such as “dutiful”, “wary”, “aggressive”, etc. This means that while they're not particularly intelligent or creative fighters, they are not universally predictable either.

  • Subdermal Armor: While a Hoplite appears to be a normal human on the outside, they actually have two layers of quantum fiber right underneath their synthflesh. This is fairly minor protection that does not provide significant protection against most direct fire weapons, but it is useful for absorbing shrapnel, richocets, and low-tech melee weapons like daggers or clubs. This provides them with a minor edge in durablility compared to the average human body.

  • Hi-sense Enhanced Eyes: Synthetic soldiers use off the shelf Hi-sense Enhanced Eyes originally intended for cyborgs as photo-receptors. These provide the Hoplite with slightly better than average baseline vision than a typical human, along with a limited ability to see in the ultraviolet and infrared spectrums.
Strengths:

  • More than Human: Hoplite Synthetic Soldiers are typically more capable physically than the average human soldier.. While less than that of many other battle droids, their strength, endurance, and speed runs on the upper end of the human spectrum. Additionally, compared to humans, they have somewhat better physical durability and enhanced vision.

  • Defense in Principle: Hoplite Synthetic Soldiers are an unusual amalgram of organic and inorganic technology. The use of (partially)organic components such as the ryboarse muscles, organoform circuitry, and bio-computer based droid brain, and a hydro-glycolic fuel cell artificial metabolism makes Hoplites resistant to the original banes of battle droids: Ion/EMP weapons and hacking attempts.

Weaknesses:

  • Limited Intelligence: While intended to largely replace organic soldiers, Hoplites are notably less creative or well-rounded in terms of actual skills compared to organics. Additionally, the Hoplites relatively simple personality makes them not as suited for changing social environments compared to organic soldiers.

  • Environmental Prone: The same artificially organic components that allow Hoplites to bypass to many of the common pitfalls of droids also makes them vulnerable to hazards that don't typically effect droids, such as radiation and certain diseases.
DESCRIPTION
Studying the Clone Wars, Admiral Quee was struck by the logistical and practical performance issues caused by either using droids or clones. While the droids could be produced and fielded en masse, the closet organic counterpart, a clone trooper, took significantly more time to train and equip. However, they were also generally more effective than their counterpart because of their greater versatility and ability to think. This caused him to seek a middle ground while thinking about how to best expand the limited ground forces of the Directorate. The result of these thoughts and his collaboration with Lucerne Lab's droid division was the biomechanical Hoplite Synthetic Soldier.

Hoplites are unusual in that while they an artificial, mechanical construct, a significant portion of them is actually of organic nature and even includes living organisms within it.This largely allows them to be more adaptable and relatable to organic beings than many battle droids while simultaneously allowing them to be more easily produced and consistently higher performing than many organic soldiers. While Hoplites have been compared to HRDs, they are actually more conceptually related to synthdroids: a Hoplite only resembles a human from a superficial level, both mentally and physically. It generally does not take long for people to interact with a Hoplite to realize that it's an artificial construct. While this makes them poor social infiltrators and conversation mates, Hoplites remain effective warfighters that typically are equivalent to organic soldiers in overall performance.

Technical Explanations:

Personality: Hoplites only support a fairly simple personality matrix due to their use of the Psykhe Droid Brain. This limited personality also means that the droids are not capable of learning heuristically, unlike many higher-end droids. To partially compensate for this and make them less predictable, the droid can accept a variety of basic personalities that can typically be summed up in a single word. Some of the most common default personality types from the factory are described as “dutiful”, “wary”, and “aggressive”. All personality see themselves first and foremost as soldiers and warriors, which largely regulates and channels their personality's feeling to productive ends.

Skillset: The Psykhe droid brain and its associated personality matrix are designed to support a warrior persona which is enabled by including a competency skillset of basic combat survival skills within the core programming itself. This core programming isn't terribly impressive by itself, but it serves primarily as a contextual junction point for the programming which comes from the four knowledge cartridges that can be inserted into the droid brain itself. These cartridges allow Synthetic Soldiers to be much more adaptable on the battlefield than many of their battle droid peers while making the process user-friendly even to those with limited technical skills. To change cartridge, the droid must be brought offline, the back of head panel accessed, the correct authorization credentials and passcodes entered. Typically, one cartridge contains all of the information about the organization that the droid belongs to, such as its basic history, chain of command, strategic and tactical doctrines, and specific operations information (friend or foe programming, maps, etc). Another cartridge typically supports the programming to effectively operate a small number of specific weapons(ex. Alliance small arms) or a broad class of associated weapons(such as blaster rifles). Another cartridge is dedicated to effectively using equipment assigned to the droid, typically things like battle armor or tools originally designed for humans. Occasionally, this slot is replaced with the knowledge on how to use and maintain a specific type of vehicle. The last slot typically holds information and programming on operating in specific types of environments, such as forests or deserts. By fusing all of these programmings together through the droid's personality matrix, Hoplites become proficient fighters largely equivalent to trained, but not veteran, organic soldiers.

Chassis: Hoplites derive most of their uniquely hybrid organic and artificial nature by the use of a Psykhe Droid Brain and Soma series Body Chassis. Biofiber and Rybcoarse-based artificial muscles are attached to this frame to act in a matter similar to traditional servo-motors, which in turn are covered by quantum fiber underlay with synthflesh and artificial hair on top. These basic systems form the basis of the Hoplites appearance and ability to almost serve interchangeably for and among human soldiers. To the typical onlooker, Hoplites appear to have the same physical performance as an organic soldier in peak physical condition,. But Hoplites not only emulate typical soldiers, but actually surpass them in few characteristics, which largely serves to make up for their poorer intellectual ability compared to organic soldiers. The biofiber-rybcoarse muscles are not subject to the typical lactic acid cycle within the body, and thus do not suffer from endurance problems. Much like the servo-motors found on other droids, the main limiting endurance factor is the amount of power available to the droid. The droids do not possess pain receptors, which allows them to keep fighting despite damages and wounds that normally kill or incapacitate a human soldier. Aiding in this effort, the quantum fiber underlay provides additional protection to the droid that people simply don't have. While it pales to the armor inherently worn by most battle droids, this underlay makes the droids less susceptible to damage from typically weaker attacks on the battlefield, such as from shrapnel or simple melee weapons. Using Hi-Sense Enhanced Eyes with improved visual acuity in discriminating between objects as well as resolving images at further distances, along with the ability to see the infrared and ultraviolet spectrums. The use of internal comlink also means that the droids do not to need to verbally speak to communicate, allowing them to silently act together in concert without the possibility of eavesdropping.

Locomotion: Hoplites move around on a pair of legs and arms, giving it the mobility typical of most humans. The artificial muscles and Soma Droid Chassis provide the Hoplite with sufficient strength, endurance, and grace to perform at the capability of an exceptional human athlete. A Soma can easily perform such tasks as long marches, sudden sprints, or rockclimbing. As their endurance and frame is largely the result of its artificial construction, the droids can also carry and move around slightly more weight than many of their organic counterparts without any loss in physical performance. This may practically manifest itself as carrying an extra weapon, heavier armor, or more ammunition.

Weapons: Hoplites do not come equipped with any offensive hardware of their own. However, with the right knowledge cartridge, they can proficiently use most weapons designed for humans and other humanoid species. Most militaries give the droids knowledge cartridges that cover the use of weapons typically standard in their armories, allowing them to be equipped using already existing stores of weaponry or to pick up and use weapons found on the battlefield. Because of that, many Synthetic Soldiers carry fairly typical weapons like blaster rifles and grenades onto the battlefield, though some have been equipped with more specialized or exotic weapons depending on the role of their unit.

Defenses: Like humans, the most inherent physical defense of a Hoplite is simply not getting hit, relying on their size and natural grace to avoid enemy fire or seek cover and/or concealment. However, they do possess a layer of quantum fiber which provides minor protection against many common threats such as shrapnel, primitive weapons, and glancing weapon strikes. Hoplites often rely on wearing armor suits originally designed for organics to provide them with better defense. While these inherent defenses are weaker than the physical defenses of many battledroids, Hoplites are conversely more resistant to the common weakpoints typical of many battledroids. Its chassis and droid brain designs combined with its use of artificial muscles makes it grossly unaffected by area of effect ion and EMP strikes. The use of an organoform circuitry and bio-computer based droid brain also make it unaffected by droid restraining bolts and significantly harder to hack as well as a matter of principle. This does not mean that the droid is immune to such attacks, but it is significantly harder to damage or destroy it through such means.

SPECIAL FEATURES

  • Human Replicas: While actually droids, the Praetorian series Synthetic Soldiers are designed to appear as typical humans at a casual inspection. A key element of this is the use of a Soma series Droid Chassis, which is then covered in artificial rybcoarse/biofiber muscles to as servo-motors and then covered in synthflesh, much like their direct predecessor, the Synthdroid. Aside from making Praetorians easier to interact with organics (especially for civilians), it also enables them to utilize existing weapons, armor, and other equipment originally designed for organic use.

  • Variable Appearance: Praetorian series Synthetic Soldiers use basic synthdroid construction, meaning that it takes only little effort to sculpt or dye the synthflesh to make it look like a variety of humans. Praetorian Synthetic Soldiers typically possess randomized appearance traits to make them look like more organic units on the battlefield, those purchasers can specify certain physical appearances if desired. However, their actual appearance as organics is not perfect, falling somewhat between the low-end Synthdroids and high-end HRDs. Many people can tell their true nature just from looks after spending almost an hour with them, simply because the droids aren't as expressive in their communications as most humans would be, especially in special or trying circumstances.

  • Variable Personality: Unlike their Hoplite series counterparts, Praetorians have fairly advanced personality matrixes, on par with those of protocol droids. While these personalities start out as relatively basic, continued interaction with the world and a lack of memory wipes allows the droids to develop sophisticated and unique personalities that are almost on the level of many organics.

  • Subdermal Armor: While a Praetorian appears to be a normal human on the outside, they actually have two layers of quantum fiber right underneath their synthflesh. This is fairly minor protection that does not provide significant protection against most direct fire weapons, but it is useful for absorbing shrapnel, richocets, and low-tech melee weapons like daggers or clubs. This provides them with a minor edge in durability compared to the average human body.

  • Hi-sense Enhanced Eyes: Synthetic soldiers use off the shelf Hi-sense Enhanced Eyes originally intended for cyborgs as photo-receptors. These provide the Praetorian with slightly better than average baseline vision than a typical human, along with a limited ability to see in the ultraviolet and infrared spectrums.

  • Coma Gas Reservoir: Praetorians have a pair of small chest cavities where a human's lungs would be that act as a coma gas reservoir. When needed, Praetorians can 'breath' or blow out this gas from their mouth into a nearby target, making this an inconspicious way to nonlethally subdue an opponent.
Strengths:

  • More than Human: Praetorian Synthetic Soldiers are typically more physically strong than the average human soldier. While that strength is less than that of many other battle droids, their strength, endurance, and speed runs on the upper end of the human spectrum.

  • Defense in Principle: Praetorian Synthetic Soldiers are an unusual amalgram of organic and inorganic technology. The use of (partially)organic components such as the ryboarse muscles, organoform circuitry, and a hydro-glycolic fuel cell artificial metabolism makes Praetorians resistant to the banes of battle droids: Ion/EMP weapons and hacking attempts.

  • Socially Adept: Praetorians are unusual for battle droids in that possess a significant amount of social acumen and behavioral programming that allows them to deal with more socially challenging circumstances. A Praetorian can negotiate with a rioting crowd or use the appropriate amount of force. It can also intelligently converse with visitors while acting as a guard. It can follow military and ceremonial protocols with precision while as acting as an honor guard for an ambassador, all while carefully minding that ambassador's cultural sensitivities and inclinations. A Praetorian is also typically conversant in several foreign languages, courtesy of its droid brain typically programmed for protocol droid base use.

Weaknesses:
  • Between Worlds: Praetorians occupy an unusual psychological niche between true organic soldiers and typical performance-based battle droids. Praetorians lack the physical combat performance, reflexes, and adaptable tactical programming found in most battle droids, while still not being quite as socially unique and unpredictable as most organics. Whereas most droids can be reprogrammed relatively easily, the Praetorian's complex social programming means that the droid's cannot be programmed with new skills, but rather have to learn them just like an organic would, with the end result being typical organic based combat performance rather than pure mechanical efficiency.

  • Environmental Prone: The same artificially organic components that allow Praetorian to bypass to many of the common pitfalls of droids also makes them vulnerable to hazards that don't typically effect droids, such as radiation and certain diseases.
DESCRIPTION
While Lucerne Lab's previous Hoplite series Synthetic Soldier has largely been successful in providing a droid replacement for the average human soldier, some commanders and government purchasers complained the droids were difficult to integrate into mixed organic-synthetic units because of their simplistic one-dimensional personalities. These "amped-up" personalities also have made it more difficult to employ the droids in more public roles, such as for internal security duties like riot control, border patrol, and honor guards. To fulfill that niche for a more socially adept combatant, Lucerne Labs went back to the drawing board and redesigned the Hoplite to accept a more conventional droid brain that blended protocol and battle droid programming. The resultant droid has been dubbed the Praetorian. While it does not possess the lightning fast reflexes or tactically flexible of the Hoplite, the Praetorian is much more effective in interacting in more social environments. Not only are these droids effectively employed for the internal security duties they were designed to perform originally, but many have pressed into the bodyguard role. Not only are Praetorians endless amounts of fatigue compared to an organic bodyguard, but their ability to provide translation for many common languages also gives them a secondary role for VIPs as translators.

Technical Explanations:

Personality: Praetorians sport a fairly advanced personality matrix that starts with a basic protocol droid personality that then has combat and other military skillsets and motivators spliced into it. Praetorians fresh off the assembly line consequently have a personality that is described as courteous, calm, dutiful, and disciplined. Such models are not known for being aggressive, theatrical, or curious. However, as the droids go through service and acquire experience, their personality undergoes gradual changes that make them individually different. In large part because of their droid brain's protocol droid based nature, users and commanders of the droids have found that this programming can be influenced by indoctrination through reading, speeches, and other forms of traditional organic communication.

Skillset: Praetorians have a mixture of protocol and battle droid skills as a result of their intended role as internal security troops. This leads to some similarities in skillsets with security droids, but a Praetorian's skillset is more dedicated towards extended, large-scale combat rather than security facilities or protecting people. Unsurprisingly, Praetorians all have a working knowledge of how to use common weapons, personal armors, and other combat devices in conventional and effective matter. They also retain some of their droid brains original protocol droid programming, including the ability to speak in at least several common languages aside from Basic. Other protocol based skills include many common cultural cues, subroutines in how to de-escalate situations in a non-violent matter, and how to perform certain ceremonies such as parade marches, honor guard duties, and other like display performances. From an internal security perspective, Praetorians also have riot control programming and how to establish security cordons and patrols. Praetorians can learn additional skills, but it's not a matter of simply downloading the appropriate programming due to their unusual fusion of their base programming. Instead, the droids must heuristically learn these skills through experience much in a similar matter to most organic beings.

Chassis: The base chassis of the Praetorian is largely unchanged from their Hoplite and Synthdroid predecessors. It uses a base Soma series Body Chassis modelled on a typical humanoid with some small variances for military acceptable height and builds in order to better imitate humans. Biofiber and Rybcoarse-based artificial muscles are attached to this frame to act in a matter similar to traditional servo-motors, which in turn are covered by quantum fiber underlay with synthflesh and artificial hair on top. These basic systems form the basis of the Praetorian's appearance and ability to almost serve interchangeably for and among human soldiers. To the typical onlooker, Praetorians appear to have the same physical performance as an organic soldier in peak physical condition. But Praetorians not only emulate typical soldiers, but actually surpass them in few characteristics, which largely serves to make up for their poorer intellectual ability compared to organic soldiers.

Locomotion: Praetorians move around on a pair of legs and arms, giving it the mobility typical of most humans. The artificial muscles and Soma Droid Chassis provide the Praetorian with sufficient strength, endurance, and grace to perform at the capability of an exceptional human athlete. A Praetorian can easily perform such tasks as long marches, sudden sprints, or rockclimbing. As their endurance and frame is largely the result of its artificial construction, the droids can also carry and move around slightly more weight than many of their organic counterparts without any loss in physical performance. This may practically manifest itself as carrying an extra weapon, heavier armor, or more ammunition. Unlike Hoplites, the use of a verbobrain means that Praetorians only have the reflexes of a typical human.

Weapons: Unlike many battle droids, Praetorians do not incorporate their primary weapons into their base construction. Instead, they utilize personal weapons typically made for use by organic, humanoid soldiers. This allows the droids to be equipped using already existing stores of weaponry or to pick up and use weapons found on the battlefield. Because of that, many Synthetic Soldiers carry fairly typical weapons like blaster rifles and grenades onto the battlefield, though some have been equipped with more specialized or exotic weapons depending on the role of their unit after extensive training. Praetorians do have an unusual back-up weapon however. Where a human's lungs are, the Praetorian has a pair of gas reservoirs that hold a small amount of coma gas. Praetorians can release this gas simply through 'breathing' or 'blowing' out of their mouths on the target. This provides Praetorians with an inconspicious way to subdue targets, whether they are rioters in the streets or enemy sentries on the front lines of an active war zone.

Defenses: Like humans, the most inherent physical defense of a Praetorian is simply not getting hit, relying on their size and natural movements to avoid enemy fire or seek cover and/or concealment. However, they do possess a layer of quantum fiber which provides minor protection against many common threats such as shrapnel, primitive weapons, and glancing weapon strikes. Praetorians often rely on wearing armor suits originally designed for organics to provide them with better defense. While these inherent defenses are weaker than the physical defenses of many battledroids, Praetorians are conversely more resistant to the common weakpoints typical of many battledroids. Its structural chassis combined with its use of artificial muscles makes it largely unaffected by area of effect ion and EMP strikes, though the droid brain may suffer some setbacks from close or direct hits to the head.

SPECIAL FEATURES

  • Human Replicas: While actually droids, the Antiope series Synthetic Soldiers are designed to appear as strikingly attractive humans of Hapan descent upon casual interaction. A key element of this is the use of a Soma series Droid Chassis, which is then covered covered in synthflesh, much like their direct predecessor, the Synthdroid. Aside from making Antiopes easier to interact with organics (especially for civilians), it also enables them to utilize existing weapons, armor, and other equipment originally designed for organic use.

  • Variable Appearance: Antiope series Synthetic Soldiers use basic synthdroid construction, meaning that it takes only little effort to sculpt or dye the synthflesh to make it look like a variety of humans. Because of Lady Miilarta of Charubah's involvement in the project, there is much less variety in terms of skeletal frame differences in order to ease production and meet Hapan standards of beauty. Consequently, Antiopes of modeled after either sex tend to be strikingly attractive if all somewhat similar looking among their apparent sexes. Because of Lady Miilarta's concern with aesthetics, Antiopes do actually look and move almost organically, making it quite possible to confuse them for actual humans in most day to day circumstances.

  • Variable Personality: Antiopes borrow the same advanced personality matrixs originally designed for the Praetorian series. While these personalities start out as relatively basic, continued interaction with the world and a lack of memory wipes allows the droids to develop sophisticated and unique personalities that are almost on the level of many organics.

  • Subdermal Armor: While a Antiope appears to be a normal human on the outside, they actually have two layers of quantum fiber right underneath their synthflesh.

These provide the Antiopes with slightly better than average baseline vision than a typical human, along with a limited ability to see in the ultraviolet and infrared spectrums.

  • Light-Mass Core: Rather than use the complicated and biomemetic fuel cells of other synthetic soldiers, Antiopes use more conventional light-mass cores. This provides Antiopes with more power, which in turn allows them to incorporate more electronic components in their frames. It also quite clearly reveals the droid's true nature on a sensor scan, making them easier to detect than their other synthetic soldier counterparts.

  • Modular Slots: Because less emphasis has been placed on biomemetically recreating humans, the actual anatomy of Antiope is much more similar to a typical droid, which means that there are free spaces and compartments that can hold different pieces of equipment that are either plug and play or only need a little bit of modification. The most most obvious of these are located in either inner forearm, which typically hold weapons or other combat devices. A larger slot is concealed in the upper back of the droid, which typically carries larger electronic devices. All of these compartments are covered with synthflesh panels, though bits and pieces of certain devices may run through this synthflesh panel, causing many observers to think that they are cyborgs.
Strengths:

  • More than Human: Antiope Synthetic Soldiers are typically more physically strong than the average human soldier. While that strength is less than that of many other battle droids, their strength, endurance, and speed runs on the upper end of the human spectrum.

  • Adaptable: Antiopes can adopt a variety of devices and weapons into their frame, making them adaptable for different purposes and unpredictable: One arm might carry a wrist rocket launcher one day and personal shield generator the next day.

  • Close Quarter Combat Specialists: Antiopes are programmed and equipped to be particularly effective in close quarters combat, particularly with fast reflexive servomotors. Almost of all of their forearm modular slots support weapons or devices useful in such encounters, while both hands have obvious melee applications. In terms of programming, Antiopes can wield most melee weapons, submachine guns, and pistols proficiently.
Weaknesses:
  • Short-Range Fighter: As good as they are at short-range combat, Antiopes are equally poor at long-range combat. The fast-reacting servomotors do not have the right configuration nor stability to use rifles or heavy personal weapons effectively.

  • Ion/EMP Vulnerable: While the ionization buffer and Soma Body Chassis provide some protection to the droid brain and its operating software, the rest of the droid and its components have no protection from ion or EMP weapons.

  • Individualists: Antiopes' programming is based on achieving individual combat excellence, which means that they simply do not think about group tactics or strategy.
DESCRIPTION

Not content to rest solely on the success of their Hoplite and Praetorian Synthetic Soldiers, Lucerne Labs soon turned their attention to making more specialized niche versions of synthetic soldiers. As their research started, they were approached by Lady Miilarta, a Hapan noble in exile. With loyalty being difficult to find in the swirling intrigues of Hapan court, she requested a synthetic soldier who could serve as her royal guard as she plotted her return to that society. Through the woman and her staff's own expertise, Lucerne Labs came up with the Antiope series Synthetic Soldier, which blends Hapan beauty and martial arts with high-end, modular technology. The resulting synthetic soldier is a highly competent melee fighter with a few tricks up its sleeve. Unfortunately, it is also very much an individualist and more susceptible to ion weapons compared to its other synthetic soldier counterparts. Nonetheless, the Antiope seems to have successfully paved the way for future development even if its production run seems likely to be small and intermittent.

Technical Explanations:

Personality: Antiopes sport a fairly advanced personality matrix that starts with a basic protocol droid personality that then has combat and other military skillsets and motivators spliced into it. Antiopes fresh off the assembly line consequently have a personality that is described as courteous, calm, dutiful, and disciplined. Such models are not known for being aggressive, theatrical, or curious. However, as the droids go through service and acquire experience, their personality undergoes gradual changes that make them individually different. In large part because of their droid brain's protocol droid based programming, users and commanders of the droids have found that this programming can be influenced by indoctrination through reading, speeches, and other forms of traditional organic communication.

Skillset: Antiopes are purely combat focused droids, and unsurprisingly have nearly all of their skill programming based on achieving excellent combat results. The challenge with programming Antiopes was integrating their standard operating procedures with the modularity of their components. Fortunately, Lady Miilarta was able to provide her and her retinue's expertise in traditional Hapan martial arts as a starting point to this challenge. Hapan martial arts takes its basis in the rough brawling and improvised weapons of the Lorell Raiders, which manifests typically as straightforward boxing and swordplay attacks backed up with fluid counterattacks and graceful deflections. Consequently, Antiopes have a marked preference for engaging in melee combat with either their fists or whatever melee weapon (or impromptu object) that is laying around. Antiopes are somewhat limited by their fast-reacting servomotors in wielding ranged weapons effectively, but they can use smaller ranged weapons such as pistols fairly well. These weapons and many of the droid's modular attachments thus tend to be used as interjections within their catlike martial arts routines, oftentimes to catch an opponent offguard. If left without memory wipes, Antiopes gradually develop their own variants of fighting styles and techniques, making them individually unique fighters. Because of the nature of their programming as martial artists, Antiopes have a tendency to fight as individuals rather than as a collective group, and oftentimes are thought of as more of duelists and champions rather than as true soldiers. With so much combat programming in their droid brain, Antiopes have only the most basic skills and knowledge in other areas. As an example of their limitations, they're not particularly good conversationalists, nor can they operate a vehicle or perform first aid.

Chassis: While the Antiope series does use the base Soma series Body Chassis like other Synthetic soldiers, there is a more limited range of builds within the Antiope series than with other synthetic soldiers. This was done in part in order to meet Lady Miilarta's need for the droids to match Hapan cultural expectations/aesthetics and to speed up production. This latter goal was furthered by the use actual servomotors rather than the artificial muscles. Because Antiopes are designed as more of martial artists, the servomotors of the Antiope are tuned to be fast-reacting and strong, which unfortunately means that they are also not very precise or stable enough to use ranged weapons such as blaster rifles or other larger personal ranged weapons. This working frame is then covered in quantum fiber armor and then Synthflesh to allow the droids to effectively mimic humans. In order to better conceal their nature, the droid's modular compartments as well as their cybernetic hands have been carefully covered in sculpted synthflesh. Because of Lady Miilarta's involvement, more care was placed into the droid's aesthetic looks, and they can convincingly be confused for organics by most people.

Locomotion: Antiopes move around on a pair of legs and also have a pair of humanoid arms, giving it the range of motion typical for most humanoid species. Using servomotors means that the Antiope has sufficient strength, endurance, and grace to perform at the capability of an exceptional human athlete. An Antiope can easily perform such tasks as long marches, sudden sprints, or freehand rock climbing. As their endurance and frame is largely the result of its artificial construction, the droids can also carry and move around slightly more weight than many of their organic counterparts without any loss in physical performance. This may practically manifest itself as carrying an extra weapon, heavier armor, or more ammunition. Because of their specially tuned servomotors, Antiopes have unusually quick, almost catlike reflexes.

Weapons: Antiopes are somewhat unusual for droids in that their weapon of choice (against organic foes) is their fists, or rather their Repulse-Hand or Neuro-Shock Hand. Each of these hands is randomly selected as a right or left hand on the assembly line, which tends to affect their fighting stance. Regardless of which hand is where, Antiopes prefer to uses these hands in conjunction with their Hapan fighting style to be fluid and devastating martial artists. Antiopes can also use these hands to carry melee weapons and small ranged weapons originally designed for organic use. Antiopes can also sport a variety of small weapons and devices mounted inside of their forearms. Most of these devices have been already designed as wrist weapons. Because these devices are so compact, they can be easily concealed within the droid's frame, allowing Antiopes to use them as a last minute surprise to opponents; an opponent may be expecting another punch towards his face but may get a wrist rocket or a gout of searing flame instead. This modularity also allows Antiopes to be optimized for different combat roles or uses. As an example of this, an Antiopes expecting to fight Yuuzhan Vong warriors might use a flamethrower and wrist rocket launcher while another Antiope being assigned as part of a security detail might equip a snare launcher and energy shield instead. Perhaps more esoterically, sometimes Antiopes are equipped to masquerade as Force users with ARC Casters (to simulate Force Lightning) and Tractor Beam Projectors (to simulate telekinesis).

Defenses: Like humans, the most inherent physical defense of a Antiope is simply not getting hit. Antiopes frequently rely on their size and natural movements to avoid enemy fire or seek cover and/or concealment. However, they do possess a layer of quantum fiber which provides minor protection against many common threats such as shrapnel, primitive weapons, and glancing weapon strikes. Antiopes often rely on wearing armor suits originally designed for organics to provide them with better defense. As an example of this, those in the service of Lady Miilarta use Hapan Battle Armor. As they rely heavily on traditional droid components and traditional power sources, Antiopes are susceptible to ion and EMP attacks, though their core droid brain is somewhat resistant to this thanks to the built-in ionization buffer and Soma series Body Chassis.

Miscellaneous Equipment: Antiopes by default have no particularly outstanding features that warrant mention, but the ability for the droid to incorporate different technologies through modular compartments in their forearms and in their back makes them fairly adaptable. Most forearm components are weapons, but they can also house some more miscellaneous device such as grapple spike launchers, a small personal shield, or a fusion cutter. The back slot is somewhat larger and is more focused on combat support devices, such as entire body shielding, sensor arrays, micro-repulsorlifts (allowing a limited ability to ascend and glide), and an interference box (to conceal the droid's presence). While there are consequently many combinations of modular slot loadouts, these are some of the common ones:

Low Profile Security:
Arm Slots: Dur-24 Wrist Laser, MagnaForce Security Shield
Back Slot: 9320/B Sensor Pack
Description: This loadout is used to make Antiopes appear as innocuous bystanders while they wait on standby to act against potential intruders. The wrist laser provides the Antiope with a reasonable ranged punch in such circumstances while the shield generator allows it to better take a few hits itself or shield someone near by it. The sensor pack is used to detect people and objects where they shouldn't be and to pursue them, or to detect incoming threats.

Intruder
Arm Slots: Grapple Spike Launcher, Fusion Cutter
Back Slot: Interference Box
Description: This loadout allows Antiopes to be used as intruders, typically to assassinate or abduct targets. The Grapple Spike Launcher allows the Antiope to scale up walls and vertical obstacles while the Fusion Cutter allows the droid to cut through barriers such as walls in order to get to the target. The Inteference Box is used to conceal the droid's presence and to jam outgoing distress calls.

Force User Decoy / Training Partner
Arm Slots: miniature tractor beam projector, miniature ARC Caster
Back Slot: Micro Repulsorlift
Description: This loadout is designed to allow the Antiope to mimic a Force User to either act as a decoy or sparring partner. A tractor beam projector allows the Antiope to emulate telekinesis while an Arc Caster can simulate Force Lightning. The Micro Repulsorlift makes Antiopes much more acrobatic, allowing them to better keep up with a Force User's movements, especially those that prefer lightsaber fighting styles like Ataru. It's not uncommon for Antiopes in these roles to be equipped with lightsaber-resistant melee weapons, such LPD's own beskar-forged vibroblades, to allow them to engage in lightsaber duels.

Vong Fighter
Arm Slots: MM9 Wrist Rocket Launcher, ZX Miniature Flame Projector
Back Slot: Myntor Personal Shield
Description: This loadout is commonly used to fight Vong and other combatants who have a tendency to employ unusual technologies. The wrist rocket launcher typically employs specialty munitions based on the opponent. This variant uses a flamethrower as few opponents are prepared or equipped to deal with the possibility getting burned alive. The shield generator is also customizable, allowing it to be tailored to protect against the favored weapons of a foe.

Royal Guard
Arm Slots: Snare Launcher, MagnaForce Security Shield
Back Slot: Density Projector
Description: This loadout is frequently used by Antiopes wearing uniforms and acting as guards for VIPs where the focus is providing a nonlethal means of incapacitating opponents. A snare launcher allows Antiopes to capture interlopers while a Security Shield allows them to better protect their charges. The density projector helps ensure that the droid won't be easily knocked down by a Force Push or a crowd of people if the droid gets between the attacker and its ward.

SPECIAL FEATURES

  • Human Replicas: Myrmidon Synthetic Soldiers are designed to appear as typical humans at a casual inspection. A key element of this is the use of a Soma series Droid Chassis, which is then covered in artificial rybcoarse/biofiber muscles to as servo-motors and then covered in synthflesh, much like their direct predecessor, the synthdroid. Aside from making Myrmidons easier to interact with organics (especially for civilians), it also enables them to utilize existing weapons, armor, and other equipment originally designed for organic use. Unlike previous synthetic soldiers, Myrmidons do actually eat and rely on chemical power to run, which further suggests that they are human to observers.

  • Variable Appearance: Myrmidon series Synthetic Soldiers use basic synthdroid construction, meaning that it takes only little effort to sculpt or dye the synthflesh to make it look like a variety of humans. Myrmidon Synthetic Soldiers typically possess randomized appearance traits to make them look like more organic units on the battlefield, those purchasers can specify certain physical appearances if desired.

  • Variable Personality: While only capable of having simple personalities because of the robust nature of their droid brain, Myrmidons can be programmed with a variety of personalities that can be summed up in one word such as “dutiful”, “wary”, “aggressive”, etc. This means that while they're not particularly intelligent or creative fighters, they are not universally predictable either.

  • Subdermal Armor: While a Myrmidon appears to be a normal human on the outside, they actually have two layers of quantum fiber right underneath their synthflesh.

These provide the Myrmidon with slightly better than average baseline vision than a typical human, along with a limited ability to see in the ultraviolet and infrared spectrums.

  • Chemical Synthesizers: Myrmidons are designed
