A 'monowire' garrote, less than 0.4 mm across, and as long as it needs to be. Artwork by me.
Blown-apart cross-section. Three long blades of self-healing razorgrass are held in place with three motile leechweed buffers around a plem-cell-infused core. The leechweed actively absorbs blood and nutrients from successful attacks, feeding it into the razorgrass to continually sharpen and re-sharpen it.
SPECIAL FEATURES
- Composed of a triple-weave of leechweed, seating three long filaments of razorgrass, in a package barely 0.4 cm wide. A single spool of 50 m weighs less than a pound.
- The central core keeps the thread constantly alive and regenerated, but once the leechweed can take in blood & nutrients from a target, it is capable of self-sustaining without requiring the core drain.
- Able to be 'activated' for several minutes at the time, drawing blood from enemies allows the activation to prolong as long as necessary.
- Fully compatible with Sylva Vitae biotech & tracking suites
- Using a combination of razorgrass and leechweed, it is self-sustaining and armor-shredding, all in one
- Invisible to most scanners - made of organics, not technology, it is invisible to all but the most precise organics-specific scanners. It is entirely invisible to tech-specific scanners
- Compatible with the SV suite providing full coverage for regeneration, resupply, and repairs.
- Organic biotech, capable of slow regeneration if it is damaged, though there are limits
- Fully organic design is less durable than contemporary technology, making it potentially more vulnerable to destruction
- Heavier and denser than contemporary technology by size.
- Requires SV biotech to regenerate and recharge if broken beyond immediate repair
Designed for melee use against light or unarmored targets, with little to zero sound, this is a quintessential stealth weapon. Able to be stored in something as small as a palm guard or wrist-mounted armor plate, it can extend as long or as short as need be, acting as a whip or as a garrote, slicing through just about everything and anything with ease. While heavier armor takes time and effort to slice through, given enough time it can core through just about anything (aside from energy shields).
Its three-pointed design is thicker than a standard 'monowire', but the tri-point allows for more rapid spreading of armor and flesh, increasing its lethality and immediate effectiveness against weaker targets. The tri-point's thickness unfortunately does reduce its initial effectiveness against heavier, thicker, more durable armor. Its use is primarily against soft targets, locks, light doors, et cetera, and at that it more than excels.
