STRENGTHS
  • Heavy Hitter - The T8-B carries on the legacy of its predecessor. Equipped with heavy blaster cannons and ordnance launchers, the vehicle was designed to engage in pitched battles against enemy armored formations and leave a mark of its own.
  • Turtle - These vehicles were designed with heavier armor and expanded defensive capabilities compared to predecessors as a means to ensure that not only would it be able to reach an engagement, it would be able to come out on the other side relatively unscathed.
  • Crew Compartment - A unique design aspect of the T8-B can be seen in its crew compartment located at the front of the vehicle beneath the structure that houses its primary armaments. This compartment can serve as a quick-release escape hatch and detach from the rest of the vehicle similar to that of an ejector seat in which the compartment is launched up and away from the vehicle.
WEAKNESSES
  • Slow - The increased weight of its armor has resulted in a vehicle that is both slow and ungainly as the T8-B is incapable of accelerating to higher rates of speed or being easily maneuvered on the field of battle.
  • Flanking - Sharing a similar design flaw of the TX-150 and TX-170 which are both designed by Aether Systems, the rear of the T8-B is more lightly armored compared to the rest of its chassis. This lighter armor and the proximity of its primary ordnance storage compartment means that a strike in this location can result in a catastrophic consequence for the vehicle.
  • Ordnance Launcher - Located at the top of the central structure that houses its primary weapon, these launchers are much more exposed than the rest of its systems and more easily targeted. An accurate strike to this location can result in the launcher being disabled and rendered inoperable, greatly decreasing the threat this vehicle would pose to an enemy.
DESCRIPTION
Aether Systems continues to forge forward on its path of taking the vehicle manufacturing scene by storm as it continues to design and produce new assets to assist in further standardizing the Galactic Alliance Defense Force. Its most recent addition to this effort can be seen in the introduction of the T8-B Heavy Tank, a successor to the T4-B that was heavily utilized by both the Alliance to Restore the Republic and its successors in the New Republic. Whilst the TX-150s and TX-170s provide an agile striking vessel, and the HAVw A12 and T6-B provide infantry support, the T8-B Heavy Tank was designed with the sole intention of being deployed against enemy armored units and to serve as a primary battle tank.

The T8-B was designed with a heavier array of armaments than its predecessor, as well as increased armor plating to ensure that it could survive even the heaviest of engagements. However, the increased defensive capabilities came at the cost of speed and maneuverability, simply put, the T8-B is a turtle and lacks the agility and maneuverability as the more nimble TX-series of Tanks produced by Aether Systems. The design of the T8-B does contain a unique design aspect not often seen on vehicles, in that its crew compartment, located toward the front of the vehicle beneath the structure that houses its armaments, can be detached and launched away from the vehicle similar to that of an ejector seat; potentially protecting and saving the lives of the vehicle crew.

As the design of the T8-B was focused on producing a Heavy Tank capable of withstanding face-to-face engagements, the vehicle has inadvertently inherited the drawback of the TX-series of vehicles - in that the rear of the vehicle is less armored. A strike in this location, with the proximity of the ordnance magazine and storage, has the potential for a catastrophic result. Even with its drawbacks, the T8-B is a capable vehicle and provides the Galactic Alliance with a heavy hitter that can take as much as it can give and remain standing at the end of an engagement. The T8-B fills in another piece of the puzzle which is the Standardization of the Galactic Alliance Defense Force and has a long and storied career ahead of itself.
