Tabletop Ruminations

A few weeks after Dusaro had been Knighted, he would be found wandering down through one of the market districts of Kashyyyk deep in thought. While he did not have any plans to take on any Padawans any time soon, he did expect and was expected to teach a class or two. That in and of itself was not a big deal, but the question was what to teach. He was fairly competent with a lightsaber, but that was a culmination of experience using all kinds of melee weapons rather than being skilled with any one particular lightsaber form. Though he was coming along well in his training with Djem-So and Shien, he did not really feel comfortable teaching it yet. As for the force, he had a hard time grasping the use of the force on his own and didn't know much to teach there even if he didn't have his own issues with it. With his skill and life long experience of Echani Martial arts, having been raised as one by his mother, he could certainly teach a hand to hand combat class. But that would be a much longer term project, so he didn't want to start with that, though it was something he wanted to do later on down the road.

What he had noticed was that there seemed to be a reasonably large amount of Jedi who did not know how to, or simply did not use ranged weapons. This had always confused Dusaro even as a Merc and even still as a Jedi Knight. In a battlefield the ability to hit a target at distance was at time a life or death necessity and lacking the skills to be able to do so could get people killed. Because of that Dusaro had been trained on hundreds of weapons since he was a kid, disassembly and reassembly, cleaning and clearing jams. He didn't expect everyone to be as proficient or knowledgeable as him, but he did expect anyone else who was going to be on a modern battlefield to be able to pick up a fallen comrades weapon and be able to use it with at least competence. That included knowing proper safety and handling, jam clearing procedures, disassembly, cleaning and reassembly. Honestly speaking that was not even that hard, especially if you were just learning a single weapon, becoming proficient at such basic steps did not take long. While he was considering making such a class and how he would teach it, Dusaro came to a slow stop, pondering on this idea as he idly looked around the fairly crowded market area. 'Mmm.... Someone to go over these ideas with might be helpful about now..' Dus thought so as he idly looked around the bustling street.
