- Attack Corvette: The Thanaton is designed for swift attack and anti-starfighter maneuvers, and is thus outfitted with sufficient anti-starfighter weaponry and energy-efficiency ion engines to perform its assigned role without difficulty.
- No Fighter Complement: Being as small as the Thanaton is, there was no room for a hangar bay for which to hold starfighters. This leaves the corvette without an adequate starfighter escort when isolated.
The Thanaton-class Corvette is one of the smallest vessels put into service by the Sith Armada, though its role as an anti-starfighter vessel could not be overstated. Coming in just as two-hundred-meters from tip to end, the Thanaton is a wedge-shaped dagger that can achieve tremendous velocity through the airless void of space and perform quick maneuvers without much difficulty. Outfitted with four dual turbolaser cannons, two ion cannons, ten point-defense laser cannons, and four multiple anti-starfighter missile launchers, the Thanaton was readily equipped to serve as a supplementary support craft for larger and more heavily armed warships in the Sith Armada.
Only two engines propelled the Thanaton through space, but both engines were hooked up to high-efficiency fuel converters which could generate more energy output than conventional starship engines. This kind of advancement in propulsion technology made the Thanaton almost as fast as most baseline starfighters, although not as maneuverable given its larger size.
The Thanaton could dock with other starships via docking rings and extendable cofferdams on both the lateral and ventral surfaces of the corvette, though the ship itself possessed no landing gear for which to land on flat surfaces with.
