- Description: Tall and muscled, the Taeki are the last remnants of the Ancient Atrisians that managed to survive on the surface of the world. Becoming dark and twisted with tattoos, painted bodies, filed teeth and body modifications. Hide and bone clothing as well as weapons that are usually melee with bows and arrows for hunting the dangerous creatures of Ukiyo. Their hair is put up in ornate jewelry.

- Antibodies: The Continent of Ukiyo is dangerous in many ways from the twisted and dangerous creatures to the flesh eating, brain eating and bone eating parasites... poison spores, venomous bugs and creatures. Their bodies have adapted to be able to survive and fight off the diseases of the region. They might not have full immunity but they are several factors more resilient then invaders or native Atrisians who come to the continent.
- Pheromones: Powerful on the levels of zeltrons and falleen, the Taeki have overdeveloped pheromone glands that allow them to attract each other and soothe or they cn project fear inducing pheromones that repel predators.
- Mental State: While they have devolved compared to many of the others there is a baseline primitive intelligence. They can't operate heavy machinery or the advanced technologies compared to their cousins.
- Force Light: The Taeki have become twisted by the darkside and use it almost exclusively. Force light is harmful even deadly towards them.

- Religion/Beliefs: They follow many of the old gods of Atrisian specifically the Moon Goddess Shonogan who demands sacrifice and servitude from the Taeki. Dark rituals that see outsiders to their jungles and mountains shredded in body, mind and soul. Ancient arcane tales of how they use the beasts of the jungles to protect the riches many want.
- General behavior: Dangerous to outsiders, the Taeki are not ones who welcome others to their home... generally attacking and killing anyone who comes to the shores of Ukiyo. Among each other it is a twisted matriarchy with each small village having several females who are in control and dozens of males. They have many children as predators hunt them down and others are sent into the deeper caves under the temples. Among each other it is a very simple structure with the strongest in charge and most serving under them... living in caves and groups that are able to move if need be and when they encounter the few followers on the surface who preside over the temple fo the sun they are violent. In recent years they have mellowed a little accepting other Atrisians in the face of constant offworlders bringing trouble to the world and defend a few of the outposts in exchange for crystals and stones.
Ancient compared to many of the species living on Atrisian, the Taeki are the remnants of the Ancient Atrisians who were forced into service. Where the Yamagata became twisted and killed each other the Taeki broke in a different way. They became primitive, reclusive and the land around them poisoned with darkside creatures that were more dangerous and larger... mental parasites, flesh eating spores, giant creatures that could eat them whole... all of it sought to mold them into cannibalistic predators who attacked anything that came to the island. The centuries for them were different after the attack on Atrisia that fractured the Oni into several tribes that scattered.
The Taeki retreated into the dark jungles and mountains of Ukiyo, the Chi-Oni retreated undergroundand others chose different paths. Their temples, their cities slowly becoming overrun with the jungles excape where they had sculpted crystal. They thrived for a time, the remote location and natural spores of the continent made offworlders sick when they pressed further and further inland... there was the dangerous of any number of predators as well as thousands of natural caves and tunnels that ran across the continent they could travel and hide in without going onto the surface and into the jungle.
They remained there largely undisturbed for tens of thousands of years... growing in mystery and viciousness but devolving as their technology levels dropped to barely existing... simple tools, weapons and systems in the caves and temples for water distribution. The other kingdoms and emperors, warlords, empresses on Arisia came to the continent.. they encountered the Taeki and som left in fear with stories... others tried to colonize the jungles... they never got far into the interior of the continent as the dense and overrun jungles destroyed things the deeper one went and sckness could spread.
Only when the Jade empress united the planet under her rule and eventually what would be her sons did the Taeki have to bend the knee to a superior foe... she fought them and the few who were there learned just how dangerous they could be as airships were able to go over the jungles and get to some of the more ancient cities on the continent that were protected. Later starships would be able to fly down and land in cleare dareas but offworlders trying to explore met even more horrible fates. The centuries continued going on and on as many dind't come to the continent.. the Taeki continued to devolve and live as a primitive society in the caves.
The great plague that spread across the planet and the galaxy brought many deaths that were sacrificed into the well of souls and the fires burned across the caves letting the infected ascend into the skies. The sickness drove them down into their caves though and they encountered the Chi-Oni in small battles that brought them back up when they realized some of the more dangerous things lurked that far down... whole worlds. Under Akio who sought to bring Atrisia into an empire again the continent remained largely isolated and the islands near it sending what soldiers it could to support the national army.
The continent and the Taeki continued to defend the realm from sith incursions as offworlders who laid claim tried to overtake the jungles and land. Their natural pheromones and resistancesto the sicknesses of the continent kept them largely safe from being exploited and they were able to observe not attacking their fellow Atrisians as much when there were offworlders who chose to try and take everything from them. The wars didn't reach the shores but they were visited eventually by Atrisians from the royal family and befriending one of the tribes had allowed them to create on the coast small outposts to observe and access the cave systems that lead down to Chitei.
