Tales of the Outback

Kal'Shebbol

[member="Quinncolson"]

There wasn't too much to the outback. Maybe that's why they called it the outback. Since leaving this dirthole she'd been drawn back time and time again. Her last job was a bust, losing her almost all her credits. After hunting down the treasure map for weeks she'd had to face off against her partner whom had betrayed her in a last ditch effort.

A Jedi does not kill needlessly.....

The words echoed in her head in the gruff voice of her Master, Talon Caren.

Yes but she'd killed. whether out of need or out of spite she'd drove her saber through Cromwells heart with a vengeance unlike her as soon as he had drawn. Outnumbered by his men the battle raged hot, and the map being only ancient paper had burned.

"Damn it."

Was all she could manage as her toe stubbed on a large rock in the street.

Now she remembered why she left.

"Ey there sweetheart, need any lettuce?"

Jade cast a wary glance at the vendor, giving him a slight smirk and waving her hand with a subtle but sure tone in her voice.

"You don't want to sell me lettuce, you want to point me to the nearest tavern or cantina."

A glazed look came over the farmers face, and then he nodded.

"Jus' that a way. Two doors down. Best pilots and such in this side o the galaxy miss."

"Thanks a bunch."

She pulled her cloak tighter about her, concealing her ratty and tattered Jedi robes. The Lightsabers still jingled against her hip, which was a small evil to be tolerated. Folks round these parts were none too fond of the Jedi.

Minutes later through the pouring rain and wind she stumbled through the door of the tavern, glancing about.....

Quinn would be in the back looking over the room. Most people kept their distance as she entered knowing her saberstaff was on her hip and it showed no mercy if you crossed its path. She would take her normal seat in the very back of the dimly lit room. She was a fighter pilot from the clone wars who had been frozen in carbonite. She would be looked at as a weirdo for they would call her the girl frozen in time. She would remain still but order her drink and wait. As she waited she would look over and see if someone was staring at her which they weren't. As she did this she had a flashback. She found herself in a bar just the same as this one but she was dressed as a fighter pilot. Then the scene changed, she was flying into battle her guns blazing but she would be knocked out of the sky. As the starship fell to the ground Quinn would see herself passed out and her body limp at the controls. She would just get ejected before it made impact. Then she was on Coruscant that fateful night where her master was Mace Windu was killed but she just got out alive. As she raced through the streets of Coruscant she Was scared to death then she found out about the Jedi temple and she automatically fled the planet

Most of the place was wooden, which made her cheeks flush that much more. All it reminded her of was the burning map and having to lay waste to her co-pilot and his friends. The question was, was it justice? Well if you considered that the outcome was the loss of her vessel, marooned and possibly killed yes. She justified it.

Or maybe not.

"Gargghh."

Brushing off the rain from her cloak she moved across the room past the dimly lit lamps and laid down two golden coins on the bar top. They were old relics, leftover from the days when the Crusades had run this place. But somehow gold was worth more than any credit on the backwaters.

"I need information if you could."

"Couple more and I might talk."

Two more coins slapped on the counter top.

"ok girl, shoot!" Said the bartender, knobby sausage fingers polishing a pewter mug.

"I'm looking for two things. One a co-pilot and two, any known associates of this man."

A Picture of her now dead Co-pilot slapped down on top of the coins.

"Oh missy, I'm not sure that's the man you want to go after."

Jade smiled.

"It actually is his associates. I hear they run the trade around here. This man is dead, took something very valuable from me and tried to kill me. Now.... about his associates."

Jakkor was on Kel''Shebbol for only a short time. He had traveled to the world because it was a world he had never seen. Wherever he walked clad in his desert style jedi robes reminiscent of famous jedi before him such as Sharad or A'Sharad Hett he recieved stares from many people who from the looks of it never seen a tusken before. He ignored it as it was nothing new and went inside what looked like a complete dirthole he only assumed was a Cantina. For all intents and purposes Jakkor didn't exist he was merely legend having been a Jedi who served in the clone wars and was commander of the 350th Attack Battalion as well as a survivor of Order 66 and the Jedi Purge that followed. He slept for centuries locked in a Sith Stasis Casket unaware of time now he was nothing more than a relic of the past traveling the outer rim like a nomad. He walked inside and noticed two women as well as the sabers they carried he payed no attention as he sat down and ignored the world around him hoping to drink the nightmares he suffered from last night due to his crippling PTSD with a bottle of Corellian Whiskey.

After the deed was done Jade was left holding a scrap paper with names scrawled in a scratchy, sloppy manner across it. Her brows furrowed a bit as she felt a floating feeling in her gut. Instinct was tipping her off, alerting her to something. Her gloved hands crumpled the paper, shoving it into a utility pocket as her eyes darted, scanning every surface for three seconds.

There seemed nothing out of place. Her mind began to quiet now, and Jade focused on each breath, letting the thoughts of the day fall away. Raw force began to flood her being, like a cool crystalline river it rolled through her veins, calming her nervous heart.

There.

She spotted... no felt whom it was that had triggered her internal alarm. What looked suspiciously like a Tusken Raider. But they were just legends weren't they?

Deceit? Evil? No something else. There's certainly those motivations at play in this room, but not from the newcomer.

It's time to find out.

In a few seconds she had crossed the room and stood before the man, both hands folded into her sleeves.

"Greetings stranger. Whom might you be?" She queried, cocking her head to the side.

He took a sip from the bottle before him savoring the burning liquid going down his throat. As he was slowly nursing the bottle he noticed a woman who looked like she was a a jedi, and from the looks of it the same age as him. From the way she was looking at him with her head cocked to the side it's as if she never seen a Tusken before. He looked at her inquisitively through the red goggles of his mask, and replies in a curious but kind tone.
"I'm a relic of the past my dear. Who are you,and why do you want to know?" He knew that she had no hostile intentions still he had to be on his guard and to be wary of anyone or anything.

Quinn would just snap out of her flashbacks and she would notice the man and woman standing in the middle of the bar and she would automatically stand pushing her hood off of her head. Her hair was a bright red like that of a phoenix's feathers. So that made her stand out. She would cross the room trying to figure out what was happening between those two. As she made her way across the floor the wood would creak as all else became silent. People would get very quiet as she had never pulled her hood off in this establishment before and people thought she was a freak out about her hair. Once she reached the two she would smile "Whats going on here?"

And now there was two of them. Was it coincidence or will of the force? Quite possible.

Jades brown eyes flickered from Jakkor to Quinn, feeling both of their intentions in a rush through the force. Still nothing ill. In these parts a young woman could never be too careful. when Jakkor mentioned he was a relic she nodded, not quite understanding. But she could feel his pain. Waves of torment were rolling off of him through the force, impacting her own serene balance and toppling it.

Like a red hot dragons breath.

"You are clearly in pain, mr...?"

She paused, not knowing his name.

Then she addressed Quin.

"Just a friendly conversation. Who are you?"

Another pause.

"My names Whisperwind... Jade Whisperwind."

Jan followed the ranchers around the corner, cruising his speeder bike to a stop as they all disembarked off the vehicles. He slightly kicked the vehicle with his foot, and stood there as the ranchers went into town, peering back at him. They didn't understand. Everyone was being paid 350 credits for the job....Everyone except Jan. As he got off one of the ranchers waved a hand at him, and Jan made his way over.

"First off, I want to apologize that we can't pay you in full this time. There was a a error in our system." the rancher started.

Jan grunted back in response. He knew it was a load of krayt piss. This planet thrived on herding and ranching. They had their system of payment perfected eons ago. He knew the actual reason. He wasn't from around here. This was a local trade, and he had taken a job that one of the locals could of had. He had tried to look the part, not wearing his helmet and most of his weapons. They saw right through him though.

"That is what I was told to tell you. Here is your 200 credits. We leave for the next job in a hour or two." the rancher said as he gave Jan the credits. The rancher started to turn away, but suddenly turned around.

"Also.......you see the Cantina over there? If you go in there, say that Yero sent you. The first few rounds will be on the house. It's the least I can do." the rancher said before leaving Jan contemplating the credits in his hand.

"....Thanks!" Jan yelled at the rancher, who jumped in surprise.

Jan hadn't talked much during the job, so his sudden shout startled the rancher. The rancher just waved back, and continued walking away.

Jan turned his head towards the Cantina and soon started making his way to it. So far, he was actually enjoying this vacation he had taken.

Quinn would look first at the man and instantly feel a connection, she didn't know how she knew him but he felt to her like someone she knew from her time with the clones during the clone wars. She knew there were many jedi back then but she was the only one she knew that survived them. She would then look at the young woman and speak "I am sorry to interrupt I thought something was happening over here so what brings you here?"

He studied the young lady standing right in front of him and clearly she was a force wielder like him if she can sense the pain that was probably coming off like waves. He noticed a second woman approach who had odd looking hair but to the Tusken it was really nothing having seen all sorts of creatures in his travels across the Outer Rim Territories. He moved his head side to side glancing at the two before answering the lady in a casual tone. "Hmmm...Yes indeed i am... My name is Jakkor. Jakkor Kess. Jedi of the Old Republic." He put his bottle down and turned around in his seat so he could have a conversation with them a bit easier and he honestly thought that he had had enough to drink.

"Honest answer? A job. Well it's gone bad anyways."

Flashbacks of Cromwell drawing his DL-44 cropped up into the fore of her mind. In that instant she'd struck, detecting his treachery for some time. The saber had come whizzing to her palm, meeting her hand with a meaty smack. As it had buzzed to life she thrust, spearing the merc right through the heart, delivering a killing blow.

Then ensuing battle....

"Yeah really bad. Kal'Shebbol is my home anyways, so I might ask you the same question."

Her hand unconsxiously dropped to the folds of her cloak, closing in around the paper with a tight grasp.

Three names, three more shots at finding another map to her score.

Treasure was everywhere here, lost in time and left unclaimed in the forbidden valleys where the Moross Crusade had once lived...

Jan walked into the Cantina with his hands at his sides, close to his revolvers. He knew nothing would most likely happen, but it was a habit he picked off from living on Tatooine. Jan walked right up to the bartender.

"Hey just give me the local special." Jan said as he sat down on a stool. "Oh and Yero sent me."

The bartender stopped whatever he was doing, and actually looked Jan right in the eyes.

"Yero sent you?" the bartender asked suspiciously?

"Yeah we just ended a job of herding some Chollas to another ranch nearby." Jan said.

He didn't really have anything else to give the man. If the man didn't believe him....well krak. The bartender nodded then, and quickly started making Jan his drink.

"You get the first 4 rounds free, because Yero sent you." the bartender said as he gave the drink to Jan.

"Really? That much." Jan asked, surprised. He though he would get at most two rounds free.

"Boy, you don't know that much about Yero do you?....Good, keep it that way." the bartender said quietly.

Jan shrugged and started to drink, wondering about this Yero. He should hang out with this guy more.

Quinn would assess the situation all around her the woman with the piece of paper and the gentleman whom she shared something in common with and then their was the new comer. Her violet eyes would glint as she looked around the room she would then smile at her two new found companions. "I am Quinn" She would say "Can I buy you guys a drink?"

"Hm," A thumb rubbed the precious head of cabbage as Rhan continued his mussing on the product in front him. Rippana and Charles stood behind, a bored expression shared between two as they watched their friend inspect on the newest batch of ingredients. "Ja, good enough for moment," Rhan finally submitted.

"Good enough? Well fine, fine, as long as your credits are good enough too," The otherwise disgruntled but well paid vendor responded as he turned away and began barking orders to his loaders to get the merchandise to Rhan's ship.

"You know Rhan, we have two more full orders to get, so inspecting each box isn't the most efficient method of getting them quickly," Charles explained his current issue, before adding a shrug.

"Well ja, I can just let you get them all while the rest of us just relax, but it is important to make sure what we use to make food is made by ingredients that at least meet my bear minimum standard," Rhan responded to his partner. Rippana herself nodded in agreement as she went off to inspect the loading process of their cabbages.

"Anyways, I'll let the two of you keep an eye on the rest of our orders, I trust Rippana's judgement for the next two," Rhan explained as he started to head towards the Market Place, "I'll go scope out anything that catches my interest, maybe something exotic to add to our menus," Rhan explained waving back at his two partners.

"Oya then," Charles replied with as he walked over to inspect the new order that had just arrived by a trio of loader droids. Rippana in turn simply bowed quickly and returned to her inspection.

Rhan walked through the market, giving glances and interest but he found a bit of the same between several markets. He sighed inwardly as he realized that perhaps his regular orders were going to be the only thing he would be picking up from this planet. His hands brushed at an interesting red and blue round fruit, he wasn't sure why but he was certain he had seen this fruit before.

The rain began to fall, and that signal for several Merchants and such to begin moving their products to a much secured area. Rhan took this time to leave and begin his trek for one more final search of anything he could possible miss. Rhan's hands search for his own hood to help with the rain. Just need to look around a bit more, and give Charles more time to make sure everything is ready to go
