Source: BUDK website.
Intent: To develop a concealable weapon for Tamara which also gives her great survivability in combat with a lightsabre. Importantly this is a weapon designed for defence, and as such is not overly powerful in or of itself.
Development Thread: http://starwarsrp.net/topic/23555-puppies-can-fly/ - Suffered a devastating defeat to Nemene Talith; broken limbs, punctured lung, etc.
Manufacturer: Herself
Model: Swordcane
Affiliation: Personal
Modularity: Hilt can be swapped out, new bindings or ornamentation can be added.
Production: Unique
Material: Cortosis alloy blade, Wroshyr wood scabbard, leather binding on grip, durasteel handle.
Description: The mysterious and sometimes maddeningly evasive wanderer Tamara has gotten by for centuries without resorting to weapons, relying on the Force and her wits to aid her. Recently though, a greater intervention into galactic events have proven this to be an overly optimistic view. After suffering a near fatal beating by the Sith Nemene Talith, and a friendship with Jedi Master Kiskla Grayson, she knew she needed a weapon capable of holding back a lightsabre. Although she knew how to use a lightsabre, it was not her weapon, and she kept Kiskla’s gift hidden away. Instead she decided on something a bit more…classy.

Using cortosis obtained from an ancient Imperial stockpile, Tamara forged a blade for her own protection. This weapon, whilst it would not deactivate lightsabre, was able to resist them in the manner of other cortosis alloy items. However, an outright weapon was far too much for her, so she instead turned to a swordcane alternative. By concealing the weapon in an everyday item it would ensure that she would not be marked as armed, but also that she could have a stick to lean on whilst she recovered.

Travelling to Kashyyyk she acquired some of the hard Wroshyr wood to act as a scabbard, and finally crafted a strong hilt of durasteel. Finally, a small release catch was added so the blade could be drawn. The result was a weapon both effective and aesthetically pleasing.

The downsides of such an item are of course apparent:
  • Cannot reflect blaster bolts or cut like a lightsabre.
  • Blade can be detected by a more intense scan.
  • Although well balanced the weapon is not as easy to use as a lightsabre.

Classification: Concealed sword
Size: One-handed
Length: 1 metre total, 60cm blade
Weight: 1.5kg, of which a quarter is the scabbard.
Other Features: Resistant to lightsabres, concealed weapon, designed to resist basic scans.
