- Permissions: N/A

- Age: Around 450
- Force Sensitivity: Master
- Species: Shi'ido
- Appearance: Being a Shi'ido of advanced age, Tammuz is at the height of his powers when it comes to shapeshifting. He can become virtually any creature he wishes, and so his appearance is never set in stone. For the sake of recognition and coherency, however, he often assumes a form which is a variation of his natural Shi'ido appearance: a pale-skinned old man with an eerily inhuman face and mannerisms.
- Name: Tammuz Hoole
- Loyalties: The Hoole family | Benandanti clan | Shi'ido | Lao-mon
- Wealth: Tammuz is a retired Jedi Master and scholar, but he is not exceptionally rich, at least not of his own doing. His wealth is primarily in the form of property, which was passed down to him by his parents and grandparents.
- Notable Possessions:
- House of Hoole (primary residence)
- Lightsaber (white blade)
- Skills: Intelligent and resourceful, Tammuz is also a Jedi Master with a career dating back to the days of the Gulag Plague. He has seen battle and he knows the cost of war.
- Personality: Tammuz is consistently given the epithet "the old patriarch". He is steeped in the traditions of his people and the Jedi of old. He doesn't like change, he doesn't like things that are different, and while he isn't necessarily an enemy of progress, he is always the first to voice his concerns and objections over the latest developments in the fields of science especially. A conservative among Shi'ido, he places a great deal of emphasis on family, morality, responsibility, and self-sacrifice; he wants to believe that others, especially his children, are morally decent people willing to make the same sacrifices themselves if necessary. When they fail to meet his expectations, his disappointment will quickly become wrathful. His love and respect are not unconditional, as evidenced by his disowning Inanna when she betrayed him. He understood why she did it and in a way he may even be grateful that she took the cup from him and dashed it to the ground, but he cannot tolerate the fact that she stopped him from sacrificing himself for the greater good. Tammuz can be pompous, self-righteous, stubborn and bullheaded, but he is wise, pure of heart, and a good ally to have on your team.
- Weapon of Choice: Shapeshifting/The Force
- Combat Function: In a fight, he will take on a suitable combat form. The Force is generally only used as a supplement.
- Shapeshifter: As a elder Shi'ido, Tammuz has reached the peak of his skill in shapeshifting. He can alter his physiology in various ways, including increasing or decreasing his mass substantially.
- Jedi Master: Tammuz was trained as a Jedi during the Gulag Plague, achieving the rank of master. He is particularly gifted in Precognition and Force visions, being honored as a prophet of sorts among his people, and has centuries of experience dealing with Sith and other Dark Siders. As a member of the Benandanti clan, he is also a skilled telepath capable of using his mind as a weapon.
- Intelligent: Tammuz possesses above average intelligence and an excellent memory, especially for someone of his age. He has a love of strategy games and puzzle-solving, which he uses to keep his mind sharp.
- Resourceful: If there is a problem, chances are Tammuz can find a way to solve it, even if his solution is seemingly pulled out of thin air.
- Traditionalist: Tammuz is quite conservative in his views and generally dislikes anything new. Given how old he is, this is to be expected. He is easily annoyed with young people and anyone who dismisses him outright for being too old-fashioned will face his contempt. Treat him fairly and consider his wisdom to win his favor.
- Cantankerous: Even when he was younger, Tammuz could be difficult to get along with. He hates to compromise and has little faith in the stability of taking the middle ground.
- As a Team: Despite his argumentative nature, Tammuz is no lone wolf, especially when it comes to combat. In battle he is best served as the leader of a group or with allies fighting alongside him. Alone, he is far less effective, a fact he has begrudgingly accepted.
Early Life & Apprenticeship
Born over four centuries ago on Lao-mon, Tammuz Hoole is the grandson of the famed anthropologist Mammon Hoole and the son of the linguist Dagon Hoole. He inherited Force sensitivity from his mother Eisheth and eventually left his homeworld, traveling to various Jedi strongholds in order to receive training. His wanderings led to him fighting in numerous conflicts over the centuries, shaping his outlook of the Force and developing his philosophy, which placed a strong emphasis on morality and honor.
At some point in his youth, he became the apprentice of Jedi Master Tobias Murdoch. Described by Tammuz as a "hermit wizard", Murdoch was a quiet, patient man who preferred solitude. The trying times they lived in forced him to serve as a soldier and agent of the Jedi, who during the Gulag Plague were met with much more suspicion and disdain than in other eras. To avoid discrimination in their travels, Murdoch and Tammuz posed as father and son, with Tammuz taking on the form of a young human male resembling Murdoch. The disguise was made all the more convincing by the strong bond between them, a friendship forged over many years of companionship through hell and high water.
Childhood's End
"I gave you the sanitized version, scrubbed clean of horror. You don’t know what it was really like. I thought the scars would never go away. Me, a skinshifter with flesh like water." - Tammuz Hoole
His actions distracted Murdoch, who tried to save his apprentice by stunning him and shoving him to the edge of the woods, sustaining serious burns in the process as Phyre set the forest on fire. Phyre then inflicted her power upon the wounded Murdoch, driving him to despair and causing him to plunge his lightsaber into his chest, taking his own life. A helpless Tammuz felt his master die, and in his distraught state he fell to the Dark Side, attacking Phyre viciously. She was too strong for him, however. Tammuz was defeated, held prisoner and tortured by Phyre before he managed to escape, having been forever changed by the experience.
After the death of his master, Tammuz was knighted by the Jedi. He continued to serve, fighting in numerous battles and resolving conflicts around the galaxy during the post-Gulag Reconstruction Era. Eventually he chose to return home to Lao-mon, where he began taking on his fellow Shi'ido as students. He married another teacher, Lilith Aerie, and had eight children with her, seven sons and one daughter.
In the Twilight of My Life
By the 860s, Tammuz had more or less settled down, content to enjoy grandchildren and the fruits of his labors. He took on a final protégé, Arimanes Bosch, around two hundred years ago. Arimanes would become very close to Tammuz and his family, especially Tammuz's daughter Inanna, but he never measured up to the standards of the Jedi. Frustrated, Arimanes abandoned his training and left to wander the galaxy. Inanna also left, seeking training from the Jedi on Coruscant, only to leave the academy and sever contact with her family for nearly half a century.
There was no word from Inanna until the day a young man named Pygar arrived at the House of Hoole. A Sithspawn on the run after stealing a datachip full of invaluable information about the experiments of his creator, Pygar sought the Hoole family's help and safety. He carried with him a letter from Inanna requesting that the family formally adopt Pygar. Tammuz was initially reluctant to invoke ish'ken, being suspicious of Pygar due to his origins. Even after Pygar proved himself worthy through acts of heroism and bravery against the Sith pursuing him, Tammuz hesitated, plagued by strange visions of the future that he could not fully interpret. He agreed to help hide Pygar, shielding him from his attackers.
A Self-Sacrifice Thwarted
“But… what if they track you down as the source of the leak?”
“I am prepared to take the brunt of the punishment. The rest of our family know what they must do to protect themselves. We are Shi’ido—we will do what we do best.”
“Blend in and disappear... Oh Dad. That’s such a heavy burden to bear…”
“But I will bear it gladly if it means good wins the day."

When Inanna returned home, inquiring after Pygar, the events foretold in Tammuz's visions began to unfold. She arrived with another, a Sith Changeling like Pygar named Faya. But this one harbored evil - a Dark Side demon summoned by Pygar's creator was using her body as a host. Likewise, Inanna had come under false pretenses; she was really there on behalf of the Sith Lord Darth Prospero to destroy the datachip.
Because Tammuz knew of the demon, he was able to make the proper preparations and entrap it. But he could only take precautions against Inanna's impending betrayal, trying to convince her not to go through with it. Not wanting her father to sacrifice himself, she ultimately chose to destroy the datachip. In his rage and grief, Tammuz summoned Pygar and officially adopted him, then disowned Inanna, vowing never to hear or speak her name again.
Since then, Tammuz has become increasingly devout in his quest to protect his people from the Sith scientists who would seek to exploit them. His most infamous act was to spread the news of Sith experimentation on Shi'ido across the Holonet, urging Shi'ido travelers to exercise caution or to come home if possible.
Then the Brotherhood of the Maw attacked Lao-mon, bringing the Sith to his very doorstep, and Tammuz was thrown back into the nightmare of his youth.
