A subsidiary of the NAKAIOMA Corporation. Tanaka Shipping and Logistics is the corporate entity responsible for the conglomerate's commercial freight transportation throughout much of the Inner Core, Core, Colonies, Expansion Region, and Mid Rim. One of the younger subsidiaries of the Corporation, it was established when the Hosnian Shipping Group was acquired following the Yuuzhan Vong War. Reorganized from the top down, it has since gone on to become one of the Group's most successful ventures. Operating from every major starport in the interior of the galaxy, it transports everything from personal computers, to clothing, to precious minerals, to entire starships. Anything and everything that is legal in the respective territories in which it operations can be delivered through Tanaka Shipping. The corporation tends to state that it provides galaxy-class customer service to the individuals, businesses, and governments that do business with it.
To ensure that its own logistics are up to par with the ever-growing demand of the galactic economy. Tanaka Shipping typically will rent entire sections of the starports in which it operates out of, to ensure a continual flow of ships, and subsequently, the goods they carry. Hiring an entire corps of engineers, and maintenance crew to work in these Tanaka Shipping exclusive zones, guaranteeing that they will be maintained to the standard which the board expects them to be. Though it does not restrict itself to carrying cargo in space, Tanaka Shipping also operates its own ground division, utilizing vehicles from speeder bikes, to hover-trains, to large seafaring vessels, to allow for deliveries to be made to anywhere on any planet. Regardless of the natural, or societal hurdles that could affect its possibility. Similar to other divisions of the NAKAIOMA Corporation, Tanaka Shipping greatly utilizes NSS to protect both its ships, and its starports.
Starting in 840BBY, Tanaka Shipping has begun offering a variety of other supply, and logistical-related services. Including the charting of new hyperspace lanes, transportation of energy and ore resources, and dispatching its own specialists to developing worlds or systems that require transportation infrastructure. Tanaka Shipping has finally decided to begin the production of its own private battle droids, to serve as automated security on the tens of thousands of large container ships that it sends to and fro about the galaxy, and to support the other subsidiary groups of Tanaka, whom it regularly provides services for. Also like its cousin subsidiaries, Tanaka Shipping has made proposals towards neutral governments throughout the galaxy, to begin a major expansion of its already colossal operations.
Inherited from his father, Szuko Nakaioma, when he unexpectedly passed away. Saro Nakaioma took the reigns of the massive conglomerate as CEO at the age of 38. Where his father was a steady hand, never wanting to unnecessarily rock the boat, in-order to ensure the conglomerate's continued longevity, in the face of an unstable galaxy. Saro had an opposite view of the situation, seeing the chaos that was enveloping everyone and everything as a means to the NAKAIOMA Corporation's growth. Investing heavily in new projects, and innovations in all sectors of their business, and even expanding into new ones. He has become a popular figurehead for the brand name, and is well liked among the core elite.
