Structure Name: Tan's Place
Classification: Diner – but secretly a hideout for the Silver Shadows.
Location: Trandosha
Affiliation: Tan Ulin (NPC)
Accessibility: The Diner is accessible to the public. However, the kitchen, and cellar (hideout) are off-limits.
Description: A little run down, this diner is a hole-in-the-wall, most well known to locals. The building is shabby, as is the decor, but it fits what most of the seedy characters on Trandosha are looking for in terms of food service. It might not be the best grub, but it's fast. Tan Ulin is the chef owner, and while he does take a certain amount of pride in his dishes, he recognizes that this is a good way to make some credits... and it's a great place for him to eavesdrop. He's supplied some of the best tidbits of information concerning local happenings, and deals that happen in the darkness.
The Diner: A couple of booths, tables, and a long counter... pretty simple. It's not fancy, but it's a place to sit down and eat a quick bite.
The Kitchen: Access is denied to the public, Tan's recipes are secret. And so is the business that happens takes place behind these doors. Members of the Silver Shadows may gain access to this area by ordering any entree with a side order of “pickled radish,” an item that is not listed on the menu. Generally, this is a place where Shadows can receive quick information from Tan – and maybe even see him cook.
The Cellar: A place for Tan to store his ingredients... and other things. If in dire need, a Silver Shadow member may speak the words: “I'd like to order off the menu, please.” in order to alert Tan to danger. He will dismiss any requests for off-menu food, and promptly kick the Shadow from his establishment... but he'll show them around back, where they can gain access to the cellar to hide. Any such requests made by non-shadow members will result in simply being removed from the restaurant.
SECURITY
Low – Tan usually carries a blaster, just in case. However, there are no other forms of security.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
A former mercenary mate of Liuna Onzidi, Tan Ulin eventually came to settle on Trandosha. His days of fighting and stealing were over, but that did not mean he would leave the game completely. He's a keen listener, and delights in gossip and whispers. After opening Tan's Place, he realized that he'd make more than a meager living if he dealt information alongside his dishes. With the right phrase, and number of credits... mercenaries, bounty hunters, and others regularly seek the chef out.
However, unknown to most – Tan has a low-key deal with the Silver Shadows, and has ever since the Order of the Silver Jedi came to Kashyyyk. With the Jedi in such close proximity to his diner, he grew nervous about operating in their space. But, it was very good news to him when he was paid a visit by an old friend, Liuna. He was also pleased to learn that he could continue to work on Trandosha relatively undisturbed, but he would need to lend his aid to the Silver Shadows.
While he is not a Shadow Agent, he is a key lead to information. He has also devised a few secret phrases that members of the Shadows may use in order to get information or seek shelter. It's a good deal for them.
And, the Karkan ribene is pretty good, too.
