The Tanuki are small mammalian appearing droids with a raccoon-like appearance. Comprised chiefly out of durasteel and electrical components, these little bots don’t have a whole lot going on in the way of technology. Their primary scanner can detect life forms and heat signatures, a necessity for a droid. The main offensive weaponry a Tanuki has are its sharp teeth and claws, used for biting, scratching and kicking. Each droid is equipped with a weak stun ray, strong enough to incapacitate a typical organic for a few moments.
The Tanuki are not particularly strong or intelligent, but their strength lies in numbers and unpredictability. Often seen in a swarm, Tanuki bots can do quite a bit of damage to infrastructure and occasionally the unsuspecting opponent with their teeth and claws. Aggressive in nature and causing havoc wherever they go, these droids sometimes become so consumed with mayhem that they occasionally forget who their allies are. When this happens, they just split the difference and attack everyone and everything. There is no kill switch, and the bots must be taken out by force or EMP disruption. This puts them squarely into the chaotic battle droid category.
Strangely, the more time one spends with the Tanuki herd, the more accustomed they will become to that person, and the less likely they are to attack them. Unless they’re tagged as a hostile. Or hungry. Or bored.
